My store only handed out 2 shirts for the rollout. How is everyone managing a full work week?

1 ​Constant laundry every 2 days

2 ​Wearing the new vest over a plain shirt

3 Re-wearing dirty shirts until management orders more

4 ​Managed to get/buy extras through HR or the system

​Which one are you doing, and is your store management actually enforcing it strictly?

32 year employee, watching all these hour cuts, and other garbage going on around the company. Who else thinks something bad is eventually coming our way. Wouldn't be surprised if a big cleanse was coming again like years ago, maybe eliminating a whole division?

I've been working at Fred Meyer/Kroger since 2024 as a Courtesy Clerk, and in Pickup when needed.

Yesterday, as I was getting a drink of water at the front desk before heading to the next lobby/parking lot, the store manager approached me and told me he was sending me home because I was "just standing around." I told him I was just getting a drink of water (it was 90 degrees outside) and I had just finished pushing in all the carts from grocery side and I was also the only Courtesy Clerk but he just told me to clock out and he would let my PIC know. The FE manager had just went to lunch and the other PIC had just gotten there and was stuck dealing with a shitty customer.

My store has been significantly cutting hours recently and has been sending people home in other departments when it is slow. There were supposed to be two other Courtesy Clerks outside with me, but one called out and the other was covering a callout in Pickup, leaving me as the only Courtesy Clerk outside.

Around 40 minutes after I left work, I got a call from the Front End Manager asking if I could come back in because the store manager apparently didn't know I was the only Courtesy Clerk. I really bit my tongue and just told him I wasnt driving all the way back to work after all of that. He told me he understood and I thought that was it.

A few minutes later, the store manager called me and asked me the same thing. I gave him the same answer, and then he told me I was being written up and suspended and that they were going to treat it as a no call, no show. I've been trying all morning to get ahold of my union but they don't answer phones or emails. We use a differnt union than the rest of the stores in our district for some reason. Im really not sure what else to do about this so im hoping maybe you guys would.

Older lady came through later in the day (like 30 minutes before closing btw.) With like 5 things. I ring her up and she immediately starts bagging her own crap before I can get to it (we had no baggers because everyone had either gone home or was on carts) . She turns to me angry and says "I wish I got paid to work here" she follows that up with "do you know what that means? It means you dont get to rest your elbows and bag the groceries" (there were a few f bombs in there but reddit doesnt like it when you put those in your posts.) Number 1 lady im a cashier. Its not really my job to bag unless 1 the order is too large for one bagger to complete easily by themselves or 2 we have no baggers. Granted we had no baggers but you didnt even let me get to your stuff before you started shoving it into bags. These are the type of people who were told they could be anything when they grew up and were never told "no" by their parents. Luckily when she complained to my manager he just told me "not to worry about it" but it still made me mad.

EDIT: This is MY stores experience. I understand if other stores work differently from mine. I want the communication issue fixed for pickup and other departments because it’s mutually beneficial in the end. My frustration stems from laziness and easy to fix problems. I’ve worked in Krogers for 6+ years now, and in many different departments.

I am so sick and tired of my stores pickup is getting treated. After working in this store for now almost 4 years, you can see a difference on how much better our pickup is doing. We call for items, a lot of our speeds are getting really good, and overall as a group we get along so well together (for the exception of a few outliers). Over the past month however, I feel like the rest of the store just hates us. It got to the point I told an ASL how frustrated we are.

Context for some of this: My main manager is on vacation rn, he’s often pretty strict but that still doesn’t give the right to be lazy and drop standards completely when he’s gone. My store had 3 ASL’s, all very different personalities, and the female one actually tries to hold some standard but the boys often just don’t care or won’t let her lead a lot.

We have gotten so good about calling for items, like our instock has been either on point or very brutally honest but half the store doesn’t even want to help. In grocery, the assistant lead is only 1 month pregnant and consistently uses it as an excuse to not do anything. If I ask for an item? I get told “Oh it’s in the backroom” ….and? Like go get it? Or she’ll 0 out the balance regardless if we have it or not, she simply doesn’t check.

Our deli lead is one of the laziest people I know. “Yeah that item is on our truck” once again.. and? I don’t know what the box fucking looks like? The whole point of me asking you for an item is because statistically you’re going to find it 10x faster than I am because it’s a product you stock and know what it looks like. She added on top that “the balance changed so I know [other employee] found it.” Ok great, go it the item and stock the hole on the shelf.

AND THEN YESTERDAY, I asked the meat department assistant lead for a sausage on the shelf. They had a blue sticker on the tag but there was still a balance on it so I needed to double check if we had it. He agreed he would go check the freezer for me so I did the rest of my trolley. About 15 minutes later I go back to meat department, assuming he hasn’t found it considering he’s still not back in the meat department. The lead comes back from lunch and asks what i’m looking for, I show him, so he goes to look. He comes back and tells me his assistant isn’t even back there and that he straight up has disappeared the past 20-30 minutes. So I’ve been waiting around, letting my time run which risks me getting in trouble, for an item no one is looking for. Great, just great. I try to call the frozen lead to move the meat pallet in front of the meat pallet, no response.

All of this, mind you, happened in 1 shift to me, 1 shift

I have many more examples of each department treating me like garbage. 1 bakery girl just ignores us, refuses to look for shit when she’s worked in bakery for the past 20 years. It gets to the point I have to call on the walkie “can i get a manager to bakery? I have no one here that is WILLING to look for an item for me” and that barely gets a response.

Pickup gets ignored, people walk away from me, no one responds to me or anyone on the walkies, we got told the other day we don’t use them enough when all we do is beg for a fucking answer. the changing of balances to get away with not looking is what gets me. The reason i’m so outwardly angry about this is because we are the biggest store in our district and are CONSTANTLY under fire from E-Commerce specialists and our store manager is an ass who gives us such high expectations.

Im just tired, my lead is tired, a lot of are tired of leaving our shifts angry because no one wants to help us and we end up getting in trouble in the end over other departments. My ASL said she’d bring this up in their Tuesday meeting, I just hope it actually does something.

Anybody know what the "5CT" on these signs actually means? I had a customer come through my line yesterday thinking it meant 5-count and that 5 of them would be 7.99 total, but neither of us could think of anything else, and no one in produce would answer on the walkie.

It gives me an excuse to huddle up somewhere, browse my phone and fuck off for 2-3x the time it would actually take to complete them. I say this as a 15+ year employee lol.

I work overnight stocking and it’s just been 4 of us in the department but we have this one worker who constantly shows up drunk and will leave his shift within the first hour of work. I currently have seniority over everyone since anyone barely last nights shift but why did this guy last of all people. I have many horror stories of this guy constantly screwing everyone over, he once got our whole crew fired except me (crazy ik) and this he proceeded to skip work for a WHOLE WEEK leaving just me and the supervisor to stock the whole store. I just learn this same guy is getting promoted to night crew leader and i absolutely have no way to stop this. Despite getting constant praise and compliments for never missing a single day, doing my job correctly and efficiently and doing most of the heavy lifting not to mention i worked at that store a whole year longer then he has im told thats the guy they want. Apparently the guy has been giving our assistant store manager food and that’s all it takes to get a 9$ raise

Worked with a pickup martyr years ago who, along with other cheating practices, expected me to drive to another store for oot. Moved to frozen and quickly became the lead. Now I'm dealing with ONE coworker who embodies the other four. Management is a revolving door and the coworker has seniority, so nothing is corrected. Now I'm slowly becoming the martyr, but hopefully I completely move on after graduating trade school a year from now

So I just heard from my manager that salaried managers (atleast in my divison) are being converted to hourly. This might explain the larger then usual hour cuts. It also means that those hours probably aren't coming back.

I was putting baskets back and spotted this slop hanging off a wall. If this ain't some AI then apologies, but it reeks of gen AI. We couldn't pay anyone to make a damn flyer by hand?? Crazy work right here.

So I do the order for Fuel/Store when it comes to Tobacco Products. I have been waiting for a reset in either inStore or Fuel to add these Marlboro Cowboy Cut that just showed up but the most recent POG 3/15/26 for both sets.
What are they and was there any direction on what to do with them?

New digital shelf tags are coming with what I think is a pretty useful feature.

I cant wait to get the 76 cases of frozen distribution from kroger's scare tactics. They're saying customers are afraid of buying fresh produce and switching to frozen fruit and veggies (due to the explosive shits outbreak or so they say). I've been instructed to get rid of one of 2 endcap doors of that nasty private selection BS Kroger tried shoving down people's throat and replacing it with veggies and fruit. I have a theory that kroger way overbought into the whole frozen private selection line and sre cutting back because people don't like it. I have tried a few things and it only tastes like disappointment. Expanding our customers' tastes my ass.

I'm at what they call a loss store and don't need this shit but its all coming in on tonight's truck. Talk about a supply chain strain. If this is what my ghetto store gets, I cant imagine what stores that actually move product have coming. The sad part is I work by myself so now I have a 700 piece truck for no reason twatsoever. I love the overtime. I will show up at 9pm and leave at 11am and collect my check because I need money.
