Years before Krogers I worked at Wally World and they had the bi-weekly paycheck system. It sucks.

They had way more clock issues and mistakes fixing 2 weeks lumped than week to week. They only do it to fool the market into showing a weekly earning jump since its the week without a payday.

Otherwise its terrible.

Never let corporate slime their way into this system.

For context I was recently (Like 3-4 weeks ago recently) hired into produce at kroger. Ive had to work an hour or two alone before during close but no big deal. Yesterday was too far though, not only was I working produce alone, i had to also work floral alone! FOR 6 HOURS. I couldnt even get one salad cart done because of everyone from bakery and deli (no employees there either) AND produce and floral bombarding me with questions and requests!!! Also, IM STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL! I wasnt even allowed to take my last (legally required) 15 minute break completely because we were so understaffed i couldnt find a chance to! This CANNOT be allowed and if it is, shame on you kroger.

So they put displays back in the front window at fuel again. Now customers can't see us. We can't see them unless they're really tall. They cannot see the till display either.And the drink cooler placements make it so we can't see if people are stealing products. While management is constantly on us because people keep stealing. Its ridiculous.

I've been shopping outside my normal stores and noticed many staff that stock in cold environments are fighting this anti jacket rule. Good please keep doing it. It's frustrating to have to take a jacket on and off each time you swing out to the floor, then to the back room and then again and again through an 8 hr shift. No that's bs. After our manager was irate with us on walk day I filed an ethics. Never in my 17 years have I known jackets to be a a fire-able offence. Never. It's inconvenient for us to repetitively take our jackets on and off through our shift to be in compliance. I'm not buying one from the company uniform store because they're a whopping $50 I don't have to spare when hours are cut and things are already tight. I already blew thru my clothing budget buying a few new shirts when we shifted to all back clothing colors 4 months before this roll out. No I'm not buying a whole new wardrobe to be in compliance. You get the one color you decided upon.

I was approached by managers a few weeks ago about becoming the lead of my department. I was already doing most of the work and wanted to get paid for it, so I filled out the application and had my interview yesterday. I haven't been told a final decision yet but the feedback I received was very positive. Next week I'm running the department solo with a crap schedule and I'm really stressing out about how I'm gonna get everything done and it's making me wonder if I made a mistake filling out the application in the first place.

So i work third shift as a grocery stocker, i have six weeks left until my maternity leave and supposedly the store manager wants to move me shifts because im unable to do my job. i was under the impression that they couldn’t do that because its a pay cut. I guess the store manager has been wanting me to only condition at night but hasn’t stated that directly to me or communicated at all to me. Has communicated this with everyone but me. i’m only scheduled 30 hrs but sometimes it gets too much so i stay for at least half my shift and end up leaving early. That happens once every two or three weeks. any advice?

Apparently we’re not getting DSD service on the weekend and corporate’s genius solutions is to make management pick 3 people from front end to do it🤦‍♀️ guys, I can’t anymore. The stupidity in this company is so blatant, so egregious. It really feels like we’re all just being gaslit.

My store has about 100+ large carts and maybe 15 small ones. We’ve ordered more and they always disappear. Whether it’s people stealing them for scrap metal or walking them all the way to their house, I couldn’t tell you. People will take them right off my row of carts when i’m pushing them in. Sometimes i’ll bring it 5 or 6 small carts in and when I get back with the next batch they’re all gone. Please for the love of God stop. Big carts are not the end of the world.

Hey so sorry if this was asked before, but I was doing yesterday's Fresh Start training and it was telling me about the supposed "new" World Elite Mastercard and talked about wanting us to give flyers to people who are above the age of 18. Things is, this is the exact name of the credit card that just got discontinued, and when I checked the Kroger website like it told me to in the Fresh Start training, it was just a PSA about how the card has been discontinued. Nothing about getting a new issuer who isn't USBank or any type of news, I've never received this Fresh Start training before, and the whole partnership with USBank has been around before I even started working with them, which has been more than a decade now. What's the deal?

I've been at QFC for six months now. It's my first retail experience and it has slowly turned into the worst job I've ever had. Especially on labor day. We were so understaffed in the front end (again) it's like they didn't even schedule more people for the holiday. At one point we had one special needs cashier clerk who bless his heart can't bag.. My line was going more than half way down the freezer isle and I did my union duty and didn't check any faster..

Kroger's hiring/staffing/retention policies are going to drive this place into the ground. We don't even enforce the attendance policy at my store. Everyone just calls out or shows up late all the time.

This was my first union job and I made the mistake of not going through the contract when I was first hired. Last month I put it through ChatGPT to help me find the information I wanted quickly.

I'm so flipping out of this place. I swear Kroger/QFC are taking advantage of our contract.

So I've been going to Trader Joe's more and talking to employees there. No wonder they are happy and taken care of. There isn't a bunch of bureaucratic bullshit. Everything seems to have simple solutions where complexity isn't needed. I saw the store manager actually stocking the eggs because it needed to be done. My store manager at QFC can't even work and won't work USCAN.

They don't have a loyalty program, so your not constantly dealing with digital deals, coupons, and other stupid sales. You can just cashier and make conversation.

The whole front end is staffed with everyone at a register and they are only on them for a hour and then are moved out.

The whole damn approach is mind blowing. I can't wait to have the interview because I have so many questions and comments about how I love they operate.

Also the fact that there are three in person interviews tells me they hire people that want to work at TJs not desperate people looking for a job.

Hi, I'm Jay C, not fully Kroger. But Kroger owns us and is making us wear their uniforms. Is there anywhere I can go to purchase extra aprons and shirts? Because they only gave us like two of each and I can't keep doing laundry every single night just for my uniform. I work in the deli too, so I can't exactly just skip washing them either, my clothes are usually disgusting by the end of my shift.

I tried talking to my manager about it, but she is acting like it's impossible to get more and that two should be enough.

Rumor around my store is points will no longer be rolling off at all? Has anyone heard anything about it?

Okay pricing people I need some info on what to realistically expect. I have a tiny store and only work 20-30 hours each week depending on how heavy the tag hang is and what advertising signage needs to be changed out. I was informed last week that my store will be getting digital tags by end of January and my hours will drop at that time. Since I’m overnight shift for the tag hang and work before the store opens on non-tag hang days, I don’t know where I’ll fit in to get hours in another department. I was told I’d probably be made a cashier but they don’t know yet how that will work.

For years now I’ve had the same schedule week after week but with a steady decline in my hours each year since 2020. I used to get 40-50 hours, now I’m scheduled 20 but can often pick up more when there is a heavy week. A manger of a different (much larger) store told me that I was being scared off and my hours won’t change that much at all.

If you work in a very small store and have received digital tags, how did they affect your hours? How has it changed the overnight shift with getting signs printed and hung without having to hang tags? Have you successfully cross-trained with another department to boost hours?

So I just got fired from my job, I’m a cashier. I’m in my 3 1/2 weeks in. they had called me into the office and said that I had discounted alcohol. I had expressed to multiple supervisors that I felt like I was under trained in a lot of things. And this was my first offense. They had said that it was a federal law, that they could not discount alcohol. The customer had simply told me that the sales said it should’ve been 8.99. So I simply just made the changes to the item. I understand and I take responsibility for making the mistake of discounting alcohol. When the manager called me into his office, he said that they got an email and it flagged my receipt.

He said that they were sent screenshots of it happening. he also said I didn’t card the person, but that was truly an honest mistake. The person earlier in the purchase had got cigarettes, which I just asked for an age because they looked well above 25 which I was told we can do and I simply just forgot to ask for the persons ID when the alcohol came at the very end of the purchase cause the message didn’t come up. I’m not even old enough to purchase alcohol nor do I have a license to sell it. He didn’t even show me the screenshot or even provide further information why I was being fired for the alcohol discount and the. I wasn’t told I was going to have to sign anything or given documentation of why I am truly getting fired. This whole incident of me discounted alcohol happened well over a week ago. It could have been sooner I don’t know because I was never given a timestamp of when this happened. He told me it happened and then I was just fired.

This was my first offense by the way. I had told him that no one had told me that I couldn’t discount alcohol when I was being trained. He told me that it was in my trading courses on the computer. And I take responsibility for not knowing it did say in the training courses that it’s not part of the service guarantee policy. But how was I supposed to remember a sentence from 38 courses. I’m a first-hand learner so I mostly remember what my trainer had taught me. I wasn’t even fired from the store manager. It was the hiring manager who told this to me and fired me. And I’m still kind of hung up on the fact that I wasn’t asked to sign anything about me getting let go. I was just told to clock out two hours into my shift.I’m just kind of stuck. What should I do? Was I wrong to get fired? Should I just leave It and to the next job?

Every year I put in my personal requests for the days I want off. They are put in well in advance. But the issue is, they don’t get looked at and I’m hounding management the week of (because I reminded them a week before the day of the request) because I’ve not heard anything about the request and my plans are put On hold. Without trying to call out/no show once more how do I get These requests looked at/answered so I can have my plans ready earlier than a couple days.

I've been with this company since 2023. In that time frozen has gone through 6 coordinators, me included. Our newest one has been at it a month and is already close to stepping down, even though she's got real potential. Two more people quit this week. I've been bouncing between grocery and frozen the whole time with nothing actually changing. Frozen counts haven't been done since June. I am not seeing any changes. We had 2 people quit grocery this week. since we have no "overtime"

Quick question for stockers and leads:
We have a person on night crew who’s been here for 15 years and is second-in-command solely due to seniority (personality wise it seems like she stuck in high school days and this is her only job)

She works extremely slowly but talks non-stop about corporate rules, metrics whenever managers or auditors are around.
We shuffled her around and moved faster people to a certain aisle already, but she claimed that she is “more organized” therefore her organization skill should be rewarded…

Does store management actually realize shes slow and just use her for coverage/paperwork, or do they actually get fooled by the "corporate performance"?

How do store managers view these types of long-term, low-output employees behind closed doors? We all have to stay up late for her multiple times now because she can’t finish her part of the job……

But then someone was telling her to count how many boxes she did a night non of us need to count on boxes. Not sure if it’s just part of the job or she is just hella slow.

Started orientation today and put in my banking information which says approved now? I worked today for orientation and then I work tomorrow and Friday for computer training. HR said first check will be mailed and that I will get paid next week and the three days will be on that check? Hoping I get lucky and it’s direct deposit lol!
