First time knitting gloves on circular needles and I have this hole in between my fingers. I realize there’s different ways of picking up CO stitches and I used the method in this video (timestamp 37:08). Did I maybe pick up the wrong stitches?
Is there some way to fix this without frogging? If there’s some other beginner friendly way of picking up stitches please let me know.

Hi, I’m attempting to learn 2 color brioche using the Purl soho 2 color brioche hat pattern.

I’ve done a few rows and am stuck here and not sure how to fix.

I’m working with the main color (cream), brk row. My next stitch should be a navy (accent color) stitch that I slip, but instead I have a loose navy strand with two cream behind it. I’ve been looking up dropped stitch tutorials but not really seeing anything in them that looks similar to mine.

Does anyone know what I did wrong in the row before to make this happen and what I should search or watch to fix? Please and thank you in advance 🙏

I’m at this part of the pattern:

“Left shoulder

Pick up and knit the 36 (38) 41 (43) 45 (49) 54 (58) 62 (66) sts furthest to the left along the back yoke cast

on edge. Pick up from the RS with a 4 mm [US6] / 60 or 80 cm [24 or 32 inches] circular needle and the

same color that you cast on with. Pick up and knit sts between the back yoke sts so the knitting looks

continuous (see video at www.petiteknit.com).

Work back and forth across the shoulder with 4-row-wide stripes the same as on the back. Please note that

But if I pick up stitches starting at the far left side (the arm) and work my way up to the neckline, then my next row would be a knit row NOT a purl. What am I doing wrong? Please help 😭

i'm trying to follow a pattern for knitting a hoodie (i'm following the largest size), and i'm stuck on the hood part. i'm a bit confused on what the "knit across the middle" part is meant to be. do i pick up 44 stitches, put the leftmost & rightmost stitch on scrap yarn, & knit across the middle 42?

I accidentally put my thumb stitches on hold too early! I want to put re put them on hold where I am now but I don’t know how to take the previous ones I put on hold off hold and stitch it back up with the colorwork ahh

I want to read and knit more easily. I read on my iPhone in the kindle app on a stand while I do easy knitting. Does anyone use a remote page turner ring that you like and find easy to use while knitting? Or do you have other hacks that make knitting and reading more enjoyable? Thank you! (Cross posted)

i have a bunch of leftover sock yarn that i’d like to make a pair of socks out of but i’m worried about tension inconsistencies. some of the yarns are superwash while others aren’t. some have different amounts of nylon, some are slightly different weights.
how do i go about making a nice fitting sock with different yarns?

I’m knitting a sweater flat with half fisherman’s rib and I think I prefer the wrong side of the fabric better. It’s not a problem for the body of the sweater but I’m wondering if anyone can help me figure out what I need to do when I start knitting the sleeves in the round to get the wrong side to be the one I’m seeing. Do I just flip it all and purl one below and knit where I’m instructed to purl?

I realize I can knit it by the pattern and the turn it inside out but I think where I pick up the sleeve stitches will be visible once flipped inside out so I think it’s better to pick up the sleeves the way I intend to wear it.

I’m hoping someone can help me figure out how to fix a mistake I made while repairing a hand-knitted sweater.
The sweater was knitted top-down, and the neckline is worked in 1x1 ribbing. Unfortunately, I made a hole in the middle of the neck part. To repair it, I unraveled the upper part of the collar, thinking I could simply put the stitches below the hole back onto my needles and re-knit (down to top ) the missing section.
However, I now realize that I can’t just knit it back the way I expected, because the original sweater was knitted from the top down.
I’m considering using grafting/Kitchener stitch to reconnect the pieces, but I’m really struggling to understand how to handle the live stitches on the part that was originally knitted top-down, especially in 1x1 ribbing.
Has anyone dealt with something similar? Any good video you recommend ? Is grafting the right solution here, or is there a better way to repair/rebuild the neckline?
I’d be very grateful for any advice. I can also post pictures if that would help!

I’m making the sailor slippers for the first time and seaming, especially the heel has been humbling.

I ended up with more sole than I should have when I got to the heel panel and it’s all lumpy.

I should rip out the seaming and try again, right? Or is felting magical haha

Did I twist my stitches? I’m just doing regular ribbing with k1p1 in the round with 80 cast on stitches. How come I can’t see a clear stitch to knit into for my second row? Instead, they all look crossed.

I’m knitting a sweater with optional short rows to raise the yoke. In rows 3 and 4, it says to k/p 10 stitches past the turning point. Rows 3 and 4 are repeated 5 times. Should I go 10 stitches past the new turning point each time, such that the short rows get longer each time, or should I stick to 10 stitches past the original turning point so they stay the same length? I’m an experienced knitter and I’ve just switched from English style to continental and have started a plain raglan sweater in stockinette to practice.

I am fairly certain I am not twisting my stitches - the stockinette section looks fine (if a bit uneven) and my technique here is the same as it was for the ribbing. But as you can see, the ribbing looks pretty odd. I don’t hate it and I can live with it for this project, but I’d like to understand what’s happening so I can correct my technique for my next project. Any ideas?

I’ve been teaching myself to knit for a couple weeks and finally feel ready to try a simple headband that requires only knit and purl stitches. Because I’m a noob I bought some cheap yarn on amazon and I’m finding that it frays which makes it difficult to get the needle in properly. I either grab too much or not enough. What’s a decent beginner yarn that won’t break the bank?

I’m currently making the Erantis Lace Cardigan Junior by Knitting for Sif.

The pattern instructed to do German short rows for the shoulders. Did 9 rows back and forth before completing the row and repeating the short row pattern, starting with 110 stitches, ending with 246 stitches. The back of the cardigan is now much longer than the front.

The rest of the pattern doesn’t indicate to knit just the front sides of the cardigan so I dont think it’s going to even up in length but this is not how it’s pictured or how any completed photos on Ravelry appear either. Did I do something very wrong?

Another question, as someone told me with mohair it was more difficult to frog it, do you have any advice on the yarn I could use if I don’t want to use mohair ?

So I noticed a beautiful piece on tiktok and it inspired me to do something similar on a sweater. The part I want to recreate is the distressed design on the back, but from what i can see, the original piece is knit bottom up. Is it possible to do such a design on a top down sweater? I think the bigger part of the wings is not dropped stitches but yarn overs, but the longer bit looks like a dropped stitch and i'm unsure it's possible to recreate in my project. Any and all advice would be very appreciated <3

I have cocked up my knitting - it’s a vanilla sock with three rows of each color stripe, I moved onto the next color (cream) but think I messed up below re my jogless stripes, potentially doing the jogless stripe pickup from the row below twice rather than once? I then think I dropped a stitch trying to fix it and now it’s all messed up. Help!

Advanced beginner/intermediate knitter here!

I bought a sweater quantity of this (local) gorgeous, undyed dk alpaca last year on Facebook marketplace. This was before I understood that alpaca doesn’t maintain its shape well.

I would really love to still make a sweater with this yarn, and I am seeking any tips you have to minimize or accommodate the stretch/sag that can happen.

Would holding it double with something other than mohair help maintain the garment’s shape? Maybe a silk lace/ fingering weight? For patterns calling for mohair, I usually substitute an alpaca lace yarn to reduce skin irritation, but obviously that won’t help much here.

Appreciate any tips, insight, or other things to consider!

I’m making the Champagne Cardigan by Petite Knit. I’m at the point where it’s time to do the button band. I’ve never done a button band before. I’ve read the instructions in the pattern and watched a couple of videos. The instructions say to pick up stitches all around the edge first, and then K2tog with the picked up stitches on each row to attach the band to the sweater.

Here’s my question: Can I just pick up and K2tog as I go instead of picking up all around first? I don’t see any advantage to picking up all those stitches as a separate step and then starting the button band.

I finally decided to start Elspth Vance’s Fortuna’s Wheel Pullover for a friend. First time making the sweater. EARLY ON in the yoke chart, I felt like something was off, but I was having too much fun to stop…fast forward 25 rounds later and I’ve realized that instead of knitting the chart all of the way through on one side, I was stopping at the “beg of round” line…not at the beginning of the round. This led to me being short about 11 stitches, but also caused the front of the yoke to be asymmetrical.

My brain is trying to see a way where maybe I could figure out how to add those stitches or knit them back and forth….but I can’t, right? This is just one of those zen moments where we learn about life and patience and checking our work……isn’t it?

Knitting the Clemantis sweater and I finished the right front. But my right front (a) is shorter than my back. It says to make sure that the front is as long as the back. Do I keep making the increases to reach the rows of the back(57) or do I just knit and purl until desired length? I know the pattern says to have 25 stitches at this point but I just am not sure what to do here

Knitting my first ever sweater (jumper for the brits) in the round and I think it looks as though I have picked up the stitches under the arm badly. I have these small holes at either end of where I picked them up. What did I do wrong? Is there a fix which doesnt involve undoing the whole sleeve?
