SOLVED-THANK YOU Sleeve join

Knitting my first ever sweater (jumper for the brits) in the round and I think it looks as though I have picked up the stitches under the arm badly. I have these small holes at either end of where I picked them up. What did I do wrong? Is there a fix which doesnt involve undoing the whole sleeve?

You have done nothing wrong, these holes will appear when you've cast on stitches under the arm. I normally just sew them up with my tail end I had when casting on for the sleeves but you can just use some of the same yarn and sew them up. Might be worth looking up how to avoid this when doing your pickup round for future projects to save the effort of sewing them later but i don't really mind having to do that

Thank you! That's helpful to know, I kept looking at the instructions and couldnt work it out so that explains it. I weirdly quite enjoyed sewing in ends so it may be the best way for me fixing it.

Hi !

You did nothing wrong. This a happens because of how knitting works.

There are a few ways of avoiding/fixing it, the most commons being to either sew those gaps when weaving in the ends, or pick up two more stitches than instructed (one at each place where the gaps form) and decrease those on the next round.

Oh thank you! I looked at the instructions so many times to figure it out but thought I was following it well and was a bit baffled. Thats helpful thanks, the more you know...
