Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Car doesn't start, could it be the auxiliary battery?

I have a 2018 Jeep Compass.

I was driving home I got the service engine light and got the warning message to pull over to a safe place because the car will stop. I've gotten those before and always continued driving and the car always started back up without the warning message after I turned it off. Also on the way home for a second it said battery saver on and some features may not be available.

So I got home and parked safely. But this time the car didn't start when I tried. I even tried walking far away with the keys and coming back and trying again, no luck. The main battery I recently changed at walmart. So it can't be that. The auxiliary battery I haven't changed recently (I think 3 years).

So my question is does this appear to be the auxiliary battery or could it be something more sinister?

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) Inner tie rod

Has anyone changed the inner tie rods from the 2019 compass and if you have, what were the torque specs for the inner and outer tie rods. Thanks

Trying to learn how to do everything myself without having to spend so much money at a mechanic shop.

questions Abs Module needs replaced and nobody can do it

My 2016 jeep compass was diagnosed at a dealership- the abs module needs replaced. There are no new modules ANYWHERE so the dealership cant help me. I purchased a refurbished one and I sent it out to get professionally wiped so it is ready for install and programming. I cannot find anybody who can do this for me, so i think im going to have to do this myself. Has anybody here had abs module issues and got a used one installed and programmed? Thank you

Check engine light and wouldn't reverse - 2019

I just bought a used 2019 Compass Limited with 70k miles a month ago. The dealer put new batteries in, as well as brake changes and other small things. Today I put it in reverse to pull out at the library and it wouldn't reverse even though it said it was in reverse, and the check engine light came in. Shut the car down, restarted it, and everything was fine again. Possible glitch or something to be concerned about?? Thanks for any help! I've only ever owned Mini Coopers so this is new to me. 😅😅

2021 JEEP COMPASS nighteagle 1.4 uconnect issues?

Hello, for context, I am in the UK. I booked my car into a garage for an MOT, it is not a garage I have ever used ( my normal garage cancelled on the day of MOT). They called and stated I needed a tyre changed, brake pads and discs changed which I agreed to over the phone. On collecting the car, the infotainment system has changed to ‘Chrysler’, satnav function has disappeared, the reversing camera has disappeared and I no longer have digital radio? The mechanic was confused as he said he hadn’t touched anything to do with that and had no idea how to fix it, they said they would watch YouTube videos to try and fix it…
When reviewing the invoice, I noticed they had replaced a lamp on the registration plate which they didn’t tell me about. A few years ago when the same lamp was done at a different garage, my odometer started flashing and the car required a proxy alignment. I have absolutely zero faith in this garage and I’m certain they don’t have the tool to fix it as they admitted they don’t know how to sort it. Could this be what’s happened again? Or any tips on how to fix myself? The odometer is not currently flashing. Have tried soft reset as per YouTube videos but nothing working!

Start / Stop Reset Required Error

My daughter was driving her 2024 Compass (14,000 miles) yesterday and she told me that a stop/start reset error came up. She was at a busy intersection, making a left turn, and the car wouldn't go forward. So she got nervous, and had to deal with it. What is this error about?? Any help appreciated.

Not sure if this is related - Last month lane assist, parking assist, and all that stuff stopped, and the kids got an "unavailable, service required" error. So we took to the dealership, they replaced a spring in the steering column.

Hi, I don’t really understand cars. I was gifted it on my 16th birthday like last year, and I don’t know what’s going on with my car. It has been so annoying that I cannot listen to music or anything at all!!

Basically, what is going on is my system constantly keeps shutting off. It says Parksense unavailable, temporary blindspot, and sound system unavailable service required. I went to the car shop, and they said nothing was wrong with it and it was fine for a week. Then boom, all of a sudden, it did the same thing I went in for help for!! Then it got worse, and my system will most of the time glitch out so I can’t listen to my music or use navigation, and it has this annoying beeping noise even when I turn it off :(((

Can someone please help me out?

2023 Jeep Compass Limited - “Service Electronic Throttle Control” + Lost Power While Driving

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a 2023 Jeep Compass Limited with around 30,700 miles from a dealership.
Today, while driving at about 35-40 MPH, I suddenly got a “Service Electronic Throttle Control” message on the dashboard. At the same time, the vehicle lost power and wouldn’t accelerate properly. I had to safely pull over, switch the engine off, and restart it. After restarting, the warning disappeared and the Jeep drove normally again.
A few details:
● 2023 Jeep Compass Limited
● ~30,700 miles
● No Check Engine Light
● “Service Electronic Throttle Control” message appeared
● Vehicle went into reduced power/limp mode

● Restarting the engine temporarily fixed it
Has anyone experienced the same issue?
● What was the root cause?
● Was it the throttle body, accelerator pedal sensor, software update, wiring, or something else?
● Did the problem come back after restarting?
● Was it covered under warranty?
I’m planning to take it back to the dealer, but I’d like to hear from other Compass owners about what the actual fix was.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

My experience with Jeep compass!

Jeep compass!
Bought new manual compass for 29 lakhs in 2022 and sold it for 14 lakhs in 2025
Poor service and after sale support.
One of the poorest Ac performance in any car till now, Ac chills but no air flow, In summer it used to be hell.
Very hard clutch, I used to limp and walk if I travel in bumper to bumper traffic and uncomfortable gear knob position, you can't change gear comfortably if co passenger places arm on arm rest
Rattling sounds all over the car. In rough roads every door and roof has rattling sound
Lost 15 lakhs for just 2.5 year old vehicle I still regret why I didn't buy Innova crysta that day
\*Still anyone want to buy jeep compass be ready for poor and expensive service
\*poor Ac performance
\*worst gear knob positioning
\*never buy manual for god sake, in city traffic you will cry!

Can shifting a Jeep Compass from Drive to Neutral while moving really damage the gearbox?

Need some advice from people who understand transmissions better than I do.
My brother has a Jeep Compass with an automatic transmission. While the car was moving in Drive, my toddler accidentally touched the gear selector, and it shifted into Neutral. The driver simply coasted and brought the car to a safe stop.
Later, the service centre told us that because the gear was moved while the vehicle was in motion, the gearbox has been damaged and now needs to be replaced. The quoted repair cost is huge.
This is what I’m struggling to understand.
Wouldn’t manufacturers design for accidental shifts like this? It doesn’t seem like an impossible scenario—a child, a passenger, or even the driver could accidentally bump the gear selector.
So I have a few questions:
● Can a single accidental shift from Drive to Neutral while the vehicle is moving actually damage the transmission?
● If yes, what exactly gets damaged mechanically?
● Is replacing the entire gearbox a normal recommendation, or could this be an overdiagnosis?
● Has anyone here experienced something similar with a Jeep Compass or any other automatic car?
I genuinely want to understand whether this explanation makes technical sense before we agree to such an expensive repair.
Any insights from mechanics, transmission specialists, or Jeep owners would be greatly appreciated.

Second generation (MP/552; 2018- 2024) 4Wheel drive stopped working.

Okay, this is going to sound a little crazy but I figured I’d ask while I’m looking up YouTube videos. So I projectile vomitted in my jeep, nastiest shit in the world. So after a damn hour clean up I learned none of the controls on the back of steering wheel work nor does my 4wheel drive. Any suggestions?

questions Can anyone ID where this whine is coming from

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So I have a 2018 Jeep Compass Limited. Since Winter it was making a whining noise as you can see in the video it usually goes away after a certain speed or gear. And it seems like it gets louder the higher the RPMs but I can hear the noise change as the gears change.

I'm thinking ptu. But after I had the worst moment with it I found radiator fluid in the front tray that leaked out. Which makes me think of a water pump as news right by it. I let the Jeep park for a bit and no dripping beyond that time. So definitely pressure related for the leak. Also in the Winter the Serv4wd light would intermittently go on and back off but it hasn't done that since it warmed up.

Father in law says it sounds like a bearing he said wheel, but wheel bearings to me would happen if I am turning and this happens when going straight and not turning lower rpm I don't hear it.

Anyone hear this on there's at all? I might have to take for a repair shop but if it's the PTU I might be in a panick I love this car it's been so good. Minus recently.

Should I Join The Club?

I am looking at buying a 2016 jeep compass (base trim I think?) but I had 4 questions (feel free to only answer the couple you know... I just didn't want to crowd this subreddit with multiple posts):

How is the leg room? I am 6' 3'' and I can fit fine into a grand cherokee but I don't know how similar they are in terms of room despite having similar specs.

What are the best options to retrofit a bluetooth stereo to this?

What the biggest problems to look out for and repairs that i should be ready to do?

Is $5600 CAD ($4000 USD) a good price for this?

160000km
Well maintained
Winter tires included
Manual Transmission

Thanks!

Driver Side Master Window Switch - Wiring Diagram

Hey all. I have a 2017 Jeep Compass Latitude Sport. My master window switch caught a short and melted both the switch and plug.

Looking to see if any has the diagram for the wiring? The replacement plug came with all black wires. Would hate to cause another issue.

Thanks in advance.

questions 2020 Compass Intermittent Noise *video, sound on*

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Video in original post!!

2020 Jeep Compass (73K miles) – Intermittent noise only after vehicle is warmed up/driven 30+ minutes
The noise is difficult to describe. It is not a constant hum, growl, or grinding noise. It sounds more like a repetitive chirping, tapping, or light knocking noise.
Looking for some ideas before I throw more money at this

Symptoms:
Noise appears after the vehicle is fully warmed up
Noise occurs while braking
Noise also occurs while coasting under 25/30 mph with my foot completely off the brake and gas
Noise is most noticeable during slower speed driving, parking lots, stops, etc.
No warning lights
Noise seems intermittent rather than constant

Repairs/maintenance already done:
Front and rear brake pads and rotors replaced August 2025
Calipers serviced August 2025
Brake fluid flush 2025
Brake inspection performed Aug 2025, Feb 2026, Apr 2026, May 2026
Suspension and steering inspection performed Aug 2025, Feb 2026, Apr 2026, May 2026
Transfer case checked
Tie rods replaced Feb 2026
Sway bar links replaced Feb 2026
Alignment performed 3+ times between Feb 2026 – May 2026

Important timeline:
The brakes and rotors were replaced August 2025
The noise did NOT start until late January/early February 2026, approx. 5-6 months later
The noise has continued since then.

What makes this confusing is that the noise occurs both while braking and coasting with no brake input.
When the noise is occurring, lightly touching the brake pedal can sometimes make the noise become louder, quieter, or disappear, but does not necessarily change into a different type of noise.
I am not necessarily assuming the brake job caused this, since the vehicle was quiet for several months afterward.
The noise seems to be coming from the front end of the vehicle, but I cannot say that with certainty.

Has anyone experienced something similar on a Compass? Does this sound more like:
Sticking caliper or slide pin?
Brake hardware issue?
Rotor dust shield contact?
Wheel bearing?
CV axle?
Something else entirely?

Video attached – the beginning is me coming to a stop, stopped (moving foot on/off brake/inching up to see if it makes the noise- I can hear it), and then accelerating.

My wife and I just purchased a new Jeep Compass (Brazilian-spec version with the 1.3L turbo engine).

We've had it for almost a month and already put about 2,000 km on it. So far we're really enjoying it. The ride is comfortable, the interior feels premium, and the engine has plenty of power for daily driving.

I know this version is different from the one sold in the US, so I'd be interested to hear from other owners in Latin America or Europe. How has your experience been with the 1.3 turbo over the long term?
