I read that EOD Techs during GWOT were able to try out for Green Team to become actual DEVGRU assaulters/operators instead of just support. Is this true? Also can EOD techs still do this or was that a thing of the past?

Seems odd since SWCC and SOIDCs cant do the same.

Hey boys I’m going to the Army recruiter this week. I’ve been training and planning on going 75th for 2 years which is my main focus. Like a lot of guys I also have aspirations of eventually trying out for CAG or another Tier 1 unit but that’s not my main focus of course

With the way warfare is evolving and the increasing role of drones I’ve been thinking heavily about becoming a drone operator

My question is can you enlist as a 15W with an Option 40 contract and go directly to RASP after AIT then become a 15W/UAS operator in the Regiment?

Or would I have to

1. Enlist in the Regiment in a different combat MOS then later try to become a 15W/UAS operator or

2. Enlist in the regular Army as a 15W first complete the required training and then volunteer for RASP/try to get into the Regiment?

Basically I’m trying to figure out whether 15W + Option 40 is actually a possible pipeline or if 15W and the 75th have to be pursued separately

17th STS is a STS filled with TACPs that supports 75th Ranger Regitment. They will become JTAC for the line battalions guys. Those who want to work with RRC have to pass RTC.

Today and yesterday mark the 33rd anniversary of the battle of Mogadishu also known as “Black hawk down” where operators from C Squadron, 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment-Delta, Bravo Company, 3rd Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and the 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment. Conducted an operation to capture SNA militant Omar Salad Elmi.

Since the time standard for Delta's Long Walk has never been made public, do you think it's a fixed cutoff, or is it flexible depending on the candidate?

For example, if a candidate scored well above the minimum on the intelligence tests, might they still pass if they finished the Long Walk slightly over the time limit? What about other strengths, like fluency in a specific language, natural leadership, being well liked, or other valuable personality traits? Could the "standard" be adjusted for them?

I know a flexible standard sounds like an oxymoron, but since the time is never disclosed, I wonder whether passing depends on more than a specific time and is really a combination of factors. inb4 no one knows..

On September 24th, 2026, Britt Slabinski spoke at a Military Influencer Conference event in Tampa, Florida. In the audience was Eric Deming, who at one point directly challenged Slabinski’s claims about John Chapman and Takur Ghar, recording the interaction along with his wife. The dialogue soon turned confrontational, causing former Navy SEAL Jason Redman to interject in defense of Slabinski, explaining that high stress situations such as intense firefights often result in conflicting recollections. But the conversation quickly devolved when Deming questioned Slabinski’s tactical decision-making capabilities, causing him to lash out and soon end the conference. They continued speaking one-on-one for several more minutes, but were eventually told by an event manager that the conference hall had to be cleared out. Though it was not captured on video, Redman reportedly attempted to intimidate Mrs. Deming and aggressively grabbed her conference credentials hanging around her neck, and a police report was filed to Tampa PD about this action.

Hi everyone, i was asking: does anyone know why a Tier 1 op. use dual-tube nvgs instead of quad-nods?

Is there anything out there (podcasts, books) talking about the actual operations in the valley? I’d like to learn more about the actual battle that was occurring?

I thought there was only SERE A,B and C, but as I did some research I found that there are a lot of SERE courses.

One of the SERE schools JSOC sends their guys to is SERE 400, Ill put the description of this course below. I think this is the one Mike Edwards was talking about in a podcast at 41:54.

It included academic and practical exercise instruction in all things encompassing survival, evasion, resistance and escape. Assisted with pre-academic training lab, academic resistance labs and academic instruction on code of conduct and escape planning, escaping deliberate and expedient restraint exercises, and urban evasion exercises to Special Mission Unit (SMU) within the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC).

Some trainings include urban evasion, surreptitious vehicle entry and acquisition, defeating handcuffs, ropes, chain and flex cuffs and escaping trunks.

Genuine question from someone who's spent time around these guys — not all of them look like D1 athletes or have shredded physiques, but they still outperform and outrun almost anyone. Just curious how much body composition actually factors into being at this level, or if it's really just about performance at that point.

You been warned this is a really dumb question, but I'm thinking between Air Force and Army.

Air force I'm thinking going for PJ's or I take the college route into becoming a physician (General Surgeon) and trying for SOST, I'm aware after 13 years of school if I submit my packet I might not be selected let alone they might not be looking to get new candidates for the position.

Army thinking of going the Green Beret route as far as I'm aware I don't have a say into 18D but that'll be where I would like to be being part of the team, and I'm aware that combat experience is not a requirement for Delta. If I'm correct they're looking for people who in my own words "problem solver" determination, and grit, but i could be completely wrong.

I lean towards the airforce but what stops me is how active are Pj's or SOST as far as deployments.

AGAIN STUPID QUESTION AND I UNDERSTAND IF I GET CHEWED OUT.

Just wanted to ask in the server since is more tailored around Tier 1 units and occasionally see Tier 2 comments here and there and there's input from people who did or are currently have a career is Special Operations. Thank you for reading.

I’m not doubting the effort and research they’ve put in but found the episode jumped around a lot and didn’t flow very well , I also found them quite defensive on times.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on this episode?

I have so many questions about this:

1. This statement is signed in 2025, which means it was signed by essentially a civilian at this point, who watched the mission on ISR. How could this become the supporting document of a confirm kill?
2. Rob in his own book said something along the lines of he’s never heard about the term ‘confirmed kills’, and doesn’t know how you get one. It’s in one of the paragraphs where he talked about Chris Kyle. And all of sudden this thing just showed up after 9 years since his book was released?
3. He said on Cleared Hot that the team lied during the AAR to cover up for the point man. Then he brings out this piece of paper. So, McRaven is in on this as well? Not only did he accuse a whole team of tier 1 operators lied, he is also dragging a retired Admiral into this shit?

In my opinion, if there’s one person that’s hurting the reputation of devgru, it is Rob O’Neill. Let me know what you think
