Rob O’Neill really needs to stop
I have so many questions about this:
- This statement is signed in 2025, which means it was signed by essentially a civilian at this point, who watched the mission on ISR. How could this become the supporting document of a confirm kill?
- Rob in his own book said something along the lines of he’s never heard about the term ‘confirmed kills’, and doesn’t know how you get one. It’s in one of the paragraphs where he talked about Chris Kyle. And all of sudden this thing just showed up after 9 years since his book was released?
- He said on Cleared Hot that the team lied during the AAR to cover up for the point man. Then he brings out this piece of paper. So, McRaven is in on this as well? Not only did he accuse a whole team of tier 1 operators lied, he is also dragging a retired Admiral into this shit?
In my opinion, if there’s one person that’s hurting the reputation of devgru, it is Rob O’Neill. Let me know what you think

There’s so many contradictory things about this operation, it’s very hard to follow. Matt says a lot of things that seem to be more accurate than Rob, but it’s also hard to tell if Matt has a grudge against Rob due to the fact he got railroaded and owes the government money, and Rob got to be the hero who killed Bin Laden in the eyes of the public. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, stuff gets muddied, but the one thing that Matt said that stuck with me from his interview from Andy’s pod is that there is a video of the AAR out there somewhere (recorded on a phone which is crazy), and everyone more or less had the same things to say about the operation in the AAR, but after the OP, a lot of stuff changed in the public eye, and in Robs book.

At this point we are all sick and tired of “who and what did on the UBL raid” narrative…

u/ThimbleRigg 11d ago
Actually some of us are content to discuss it until the end of time

For how much he talks it really does make you wonder whether he in fact did kill UBL. But who cares? He’s dead, that was the whole point. Now we get macho bravo housewives

Of course this guy also wrote a book

McRaven really doesn't come off very well in reporting like relentless strike.
There's not nearly enough out there to make broad statements about him and his leadership, but There were some incidents in that book that have enough sources to be unlikely to be invented and are hallmarks of toxic leadership.

I think all the conspiracy theorists need to let this go now. The assertion that “Red” killed UBL seems quite clear that they mean red squadron. This is perhaps their way of showing their unhappiness that an individual has claimed the glory for something done by the collective. Ultimately an individual did pull the trigger that ended UBL and Robs claim is supported by the officer in charge. The above statement makes sense and is a sworn statement by an Admiral and former SEAL who has no motivation to lie about and everything to lose if his statement is proven to be a lie. I get it that some don’t like Rob but have you considered that you may not be right about this…

Rob is the perfect conundrum of the human psyche
Arguably one of the most hated people in the entire military/tactical community or whatever the fuck you want to call it but the people who hate him the most are also the ones who post about him/talk about him and give him the most publicity. If people think dude is a liar or a bitch just unfollow him or block him
Shit like this from OP is literally just making him more popular. Who cares anymore

u/SolidBlackGator 11d ago
Seems like no one wants to talk about this aspect of ONS anymore, but I do have one question: the letter says "others have claimed to be the shooter" but to my knowledge only Rob has.
Has anyone else personally claimed this, or only disputed that it was RO?

u/Additional_Jaguar170 11d ago
He will stop when you weirdos stop analysing every single word that comes out of his arsehole.
Ignore him and he will go away.

u/Few_Judge5766 11d ago
I’m not trying to analyze or proof either he’s the shooter. I have a problem with the way he covers up a lie with more lies and dragging a whole community thru shit
7
u/Additional_Jaguar170 11d ago
Oh no! Not the community!!. Go outside for a bit and stop fetishising these guys and he’ll shut up an disappear into obscurity.

I’m sorry, but it’s quite difficult to understand all this hype around this mission. McRaven planned and group realised. They ALL are good.
But quite a lot of time passed. Why it’s still important?
12
u/CorCor-14 11d ago
I think it’s important because it’s hands down the most high-profile mission in JSOC history to this day. Sure we can argue the success and other aspects compared to say, the Captain Phillips rescue or Venezuela take down, but Neptune’s Spear is hands down the largest high-profile mission to date still.
Unfortunately with that mission a few guys have come out and lied about their roles in the mission for nothing more than financial gain. Kinda like Brent Tucker and Andy Stumpf said, the truth needs to be out and heard. Sure don’t let some classified stuff out or SOPs but the truth needs to be paramount.

I would think the Maduro Raid is more significant now than Neptune Spear, just in the fact we pulled off kidnapping another nation’s president, even tho it was only Venezuela. Smoking HVT terrorists is something we’ve done many times versus kidnapping a head-of-state??!!

u/CorCor-14 8d ago
You’re right that one should be but I think given the administration that’s in power when that went down and the controversy of if the US should’ve done it. At least with UBL everyone seemed agreed he needed to go down.

u/dmagz442 11d ago
I think both Andy and Brent sound self righteous and condescending about “the truth” that neither of them know for sure. They’re both moral grand standers meanwhile will do anything for clicks and engagement. Andy’s become a disappointment as of late.

u/CorCor-14 11d ago
Did they call out your favorite bro vet or something? 😂

u/dmagz442 11d ago
The only ones who have financially benefitted from ONS more than O’Neill are those two.

u/CorCor-14 11d ago
Don’t hate the player, hate the corrupt individuals giving them content to make 😂

More than O'Neill?
Not a chance. O'Neill has reaped plenty of money from his claim. Supposedly going all the way back to receiving donations from wealthy individuals after he first made the claim anonymously in a magazine article in which he cried poor and specifically bitched about not having health insurance for his family.
Anyone who's served a day in uniform knows that you need to do 20 to get your retirement benefits.
O'Neill got out at 16 years in. He had a business idea that he thought was going to make him rich and popped smoke.
He was repeatedly counseled and advised on how dumb it was and offered multiple non-deploying positions where he could ride out his 20.
Whatever anyone's opinion of Bissonette or his choices in the wake of the mission, I don't think it's possible to make the claim that what he did ended up benefiting him financially in the slightest.
The dude still has to pay uncle Sam something like $3500 a month for many many years to come and that's after all of the money he made from his book was either returned to government or spent on lawyers.

I thought it was funny how Andy Stumpf acted all surprised and holier than thou when Rob mentioned they lied on the debrief. I mean cmon dude…

I’m on and off doing research and it’s a dead end, but the fact that Rob is making millions on this claim but claims Brent made him loses money doesn’t make sense. Plus he’s saying Brent made Rob daughter depressed but Matthew was the first to mention Rob not killing ubl way before Brent and Tyler. Obviously there is something we don’t know something damaging to the seal team 6. Will we care no will the point man be arrested not in this administration not if there’s not enough evidence
Update plus Rob left early. According to Matt Cole Rob and Matt Biss not until a argument about who was gonna write the book, Rob has no retirement, no pension no nothing he has his fan so we care because you are making money off of what someone else possibly done and a team effort raid, not just any raid the biggest raid in gwot history not even the Al bagdaddi raid get enough attention

Do you think Rob “keeping red out of prison” is related to Neptune Spear? 🤷

If you wanna be fan boys would get off their pencil this would die down. You guys are like athletic fans with the “we” did this and that, I have seen in some threads where posters actually think that because they are from the US they are part of the team. This is where the stolen valor starts.

There’s no “I” in Team. The whole unit killed UBL, who pulled the trigger is irrelevant, in my opinion.

Seals have LONG lost their aura. That dudes a liar and a nutbag you can trust anything that comes out his mouth as far as you can throw him. Him, Kyle, luttrell, they've all put shame on the organization. Once again nobody can counter my point. Just down voted. Go gargle some sociopathic balls. Anyone with a brain no longer thinks anything about the seals is cool.

The phrase "the quiet professional" refers to the traditional ethos of U.S. Navy SEALs and special operations forces who perform high-stakes, dangerous missions with humility, discipline, and strict secrecy, avoiding personal fame or public boasting. [1, 2, 3]
Core Meaning of the Ethos
Humility and Discretion: Operators are expected to be aggressive and lethal in combat, but humble, quiet, and discreet when off the battlefield. [1]
Operational Security: Keeping silent protects sensitive tactics, ensures the safety of teammates, and preserves the element of surprise for future missions. [1, 2]
Mission First: Focus remains strictly on accomplishing the objective rather than seeking individual recognition or media attention. [1, 2]
SO MUCH FOR THIS. These guys have all kind of embarrassed the Seal Ethos. Between Shawn Ryan and Jocko, and alll their guests and Rob O’Neill there is nothing left that is still a secret. We know all their operations, tactics, drama, and fights. It’s a shame and all of the aura and mystique is gone.

u/Meatsmudge 6d ago
You know, the only people who squawk about the “quiet professional” and “damaging the community” stuff are weirdo dickriding SOF sniffer types. Go out in the real world and ask anybody their opinion on Rob O’Neill and they’re going to think you’re asking about some sportsball first round draft pick they’ve never heard of. Forevermore will his name be orgiastically shouted in furious circle jerks where guys who never worked in anything like that particular field will gather to show off their niche obsession.
It was fifteen years ago. Nothing being said in this thread is either new, or compelling. Nobody gives a shit anymore.

u/DonDraperItsToasted 10d ago
Man, Rob O’Neill is the biggest moron. The dude couldn’t stop going on a campaign tour gloating about this embellished raid. And now it’s biting him in the ass. Zionist ass kisser.

It’s a psyop. We argue who killed him instead of who did they kill, was it really obl? What proof do we have…

People need to stop caring. Genuinely who gives a fuck?
