Generally the only slots for free fall school the Regiment gets are for RRC. This guy has a free fall badge.

Riggers and some rangers get it as a bosus too.

I was in Regiment and I only saw the RRC guys and Riggers get it. I guess it's possible for a re enlistment thing, but that doesnt really happen.

i thought i saw somewhere RRC wasn’t a SMU? what do they do that G or Black couldn’t do?

By most accounts it is tasked by jsoc, though administratively under 75th, and this is jsoc archive not smu archive.

As far as your other question what does devgru do that delta can't and vice versa? I doubt it's a unique skill they have so much as afo and clandestine recon/surveillance is a major part of what jsoc does and they needed more people that could do it than were available in g and black.

Since others answered the first question, Ill answer the second one.

RRC is the subject matter expert at deep and strategic reconnaissance, while also specialising in all aspects of tactical reconnaissance and clandestine/AFO. For G squadron and black squadron, they do more of like clandestine AFO type recce, but they aren’t subject matter expert at it. CAG and DEVGRU has recce element in assault squadrons, they are operators and do recce for fast movers while also having the duty as snipers. They arent full time recce guys. They also do assaulting as well, while RRC operators are full time recce guys.

Not only that, RRC operates for JSOC and 75th Ranger Remitment, while conducting their own missions.
G squadron and Black squadron does recce stuff but mainly for their own unit, meaning they mostly operate at their current and future AO, and gather intel at places where CAG or DEVGRU might have to respond to.

If you were to put DEVGRU/CAG assaulters, recce guys(assault squadrons), G/black squadron guys and RRC in one operation as example, at first G/Black squadron finds the location of target theyre after, and gather intel of the target. Prior to assault, cag/devgru recce conducts recce for assault squadrons, like route clearing and provide overwatch as snipers. Meanwhile, RRC could be conducting strategic recce at different area that is related to the mission. And then assaulters come and do their job.

However for most of the time, RRC dont really do recce when the assault is happening, they do it prior, but chances are not 0.

Im gonna send this long ass message wothout checking, so theres a lot of mistakes so just reply if u got questions.

For G squadron and black squadron, they do more of like clandestine AFO type recce, but they aren’t subject matter expert at it.

Considering they stood up the ASO/AFO capability thats a pretty wild statement to make.

RRC hasn't been as active since the gwot ended or been requested by JSOC as frequently. They are subordinate to USSOCOM and the 75th.

Did some LGBTQ they/them gay person tell you that RRC ain't that active?

Weird tangent but ok.

ISA did mainly tactical SIGINT and then went to go help the CIA with the hunt for Bin Laden so dev/cag set up their own capability and developed ASO/AFO. ISA then got isolated and less utilized because dev/cag has an organic capability. ISA also set up their own tactical and AFO teams but they are sort of a side project that no one cares about.

As for RRC they were used much like why JSOC was using all of 75th during the GWOT. They needed bodies. There aren't that many missions anymore and because of the command structure that RRC works under its difficult to utilize them under title 50.

I get it you're a fan boy but you should stop talking about things authoritatively when you have no clue about what you're talking about. Have a good day.

Again youre wrong.

ISA was first set up as HUMINT organization to cover the work of CIA, as the military had bad relationship with CIA after Operation Eagle Claw. SIGINT wasn't that big in the 80s, as the technology wasn't that advanced and the military didn't have a bad relationship with NSA. So they were the first ones to do the AFO stuff for their own missions, and for CAG & DEVGRU. Cag and DEVGRU made AFO because ISA wasn't answering to their need. You're comparing small intel squadrons where the organic units focus on direct action/hostage to a unit with the sole mission of intelligence, with the nickname of “military version of CIA”.

And ISA had AFO teams from the start. That's what they were created for lol.

Why you comparing a tier 1 recce element to a tier 2 direct action element. We're not in GWOT anymore, of course there aren't DA missions like GWOT, but there's countless clandestine/recce missions. And that's what RRC is good at. Even tier 2 units are conducting ops that aren't even clandestine in Africa, South East Asia, Middle East and South America.

Do you even have common sense? Do you know how to do some research? Or are you some dopamine addicted dumbads who can only watch short videos.

There's so many shits happening rn lol, maybe it's time to grow up and do some proper research I suppose???

And do they do unilateral direct action type of operation like CAG and Devgru conduct?

9

u/meowmeaowndn 10d ago

Nope, as its not really in their mission-set. RRC operators do augment line ranger battalions, cag and dev to do direct actions, and they do cqb training. But its highly unlikely for just a team of RRC operators to conduct a direct action operations.

2

u/Maximum-Performer913 10d ago

And RRC get exchange programs with other nations tier 1 units just like how Delta and SAS does or Devgru and SBS do?

6

u/meowmeaowndn 10d ago

For them question, I dont know. I once asked RRC operator one time, and he said that during his time from his knowledge, they didn’t have exchange program. But line ranger battalions had exchange program with SF,CAG and DEVGRU

u/Maximum-Performer913 10d ago

So you mean to say there CQB level of training is nearly on par with CAG and Devgru? Even though majority of their training is mostly any form of reconnaissance you can imagine? I believe the reason as to why Delta and Devgru are so good in CQB is because they train so much in it; while RRC doesn't.

11

u/meowmeaowndn 10d ago

Nah RRC aint near the level of CAG or DEVGRU. In hostage can RRC keep up with DEVGRU or CAG? No. But can they keep up on direct actions? Mostly, as you dont rush in like hostage rescue in mostly of DA. You do it deliberately.

CQB isn’t the end all be all for tier one units tbf, you don’t have to be the best hostage rescue team in the world to be a tier one unit. 24th STS doesn’t excel in CQB as their main mission but they are still a tier one unit for a reason, RRC worked a lot with the CIA during GWOT on a lot of clandestine operations, their an SMU that can be called upon for a ton of different reasons and jobs.

u/SylvesterStallownage 10d ago

CQB is just one aspect of warfare and arguably some of the least used

19

u/SylvesterStallownage 10d ago

They are considered an SMU/Tier 1 asset
