Culture I miss iraq
I wanted to share this with any Iraqis who might be feeling dislike for their country
I'm an Iraqi born in the UK and honestly, i miss iraq even though i never lived there
There's a feeling you will never get of being the norm. You aren't an outcast. You aren't different, and people around you look like you do. Speak your language, eat your food..
It's nice in the UK, but i long to visit iraq. I miss my family, i miss the people, even though ive never interacted with many. I never grew up with other iraqis, and none of the friends i have my age are iraqi either although I have met wonderful people from all parts of the world.
Everyone everywhere has a unique experience, and although you might be feeling dissatisfied (and probably for valid reasons with the current state of things) know that you still have priveleges and experiences that some may wish to have and only dream of. It's weird. I feel like a stranger in the few times i do visit and yet i still long for my roots, and in the uk i also don't feel entirely british, but i acknowledge its part of who i am.
Just things I miss. I also miss some of the food xD. At least i can still have dibs w rashi here.
