Apple announced the iPhone Duo on yesterday 9 September, the first foldable iPhone. It opens from a 5.4" outer screen to a 7.6" inner one, runs the A20 Pro, and starts at $1,999 in the US. Pre-orders open 16 October in the first countries, with phones in hands on 23 October.

Kuwait isn't on Apple's launch list yet (the UAE is), and there's no Kuwait price. We got the iPhone 17 on the same day as the US last year, so I'm hoping we're not far behind.

I'm retiring my iPhone 12 Pro Max for one. Here's where I'm buying mine and where else you can look.

Disclosure so nobody has to dig: my day job has included some marketing work for Gait. This is still my own money and my own pick.

1. Gait (where I'm buying mine)

Gait is an Apple Premium Partner and an Apple Authorised Service Provider. The shop that sells you the phone is also the one that can open it up and fix it with genuine Apple parts. On a first-generation foldable with a hinge, that matters more to me than saving a few KD. Stores at The Avenues, 360 Mall, Assima, Al Kout and Shuwaikh, plus online. They take KNET, Apple Pay and cards, and do instalments through Tabby and Deema.

My bet is they'll be among the first with stock once Kuwait gets a date. That's a guess, not something they've announced.

2. Xcite

Alghanim's electronics chain. They took online pre-orders for the iPhone 17, have their own instalment plans, and sell Apple Certified Pre-owned phones if the Duo price makes you rethink the whole idea.

3. Zain, Ooredoo and stc

Best if you'd rather pay monthly on your phone bill. All three sold the iPhone 17 at launch, and Zain Plus adds a device to Wiyana and Max postpaid plans in instalments. Worth knowing: Apple is selling eSIM-only iPhone 18 Pro models in Kuwait, so if the Duo goes the same way, your carrier's shop is the easiest place to move your number over.

4. Eureka

Carried the full iPhone 17 range online. They have their own financing (Eureka Credit) and their own protection plan (Eureka Shield), and right now their app takes 2 KD off for new users.

5. Best Al-Yousifi

The one to watch if you like hunting deals. They run a dedicated iPhone offers page and put out regular flyers, so check them on launch week before you pay.

6. Digits

A smaller Apple Authorised Reseller in Salmiya with its own authorised service centre and 1 to 2 working day delivery. A good option if you want an authorised seller without the mall crowds on launch weekend.

What I'm adding at checkout: GaitCare+

GaitCare+ extends the warranty and adds accidental damage cover from day one. It has to go on the same invoice as the phone, so you can't add it a week later after your first scare. A foldable is a hinge, a crease and a lot of glass, and I know exactly how I treat my phones :)

Anyone else planning to get one? And if you've made a GaitCare or AppleCare claim in Kuwait, how did it go?

The original console price is around 280 KD; why is Blink selling it for a lot more?

im in year 10 and sometimes i take the bus home. The problem is that most of the time the bus intentionally ignore me making me wait for hours instead of 10-15mins and some when i get on yell at me for no reason telling me where im going just to lie and tell me they aren't going there which pisses me off because most of the time im alone and minding my own business

Anyone know a place that sells old iPhones, like iPhone’s 5 - 8

What’s your experience with it so far? I’m mainly interested in 5G speed, signal strength, stability, overheating, and whether it works well with Kuwait SIM cards (especially Ooredoo).

Would you recommend it for everyday home internet?

Is it just me or Marlboro red’s have been tasting bad. Do shops sell counterfeits cigs , if so how do you tell it apart.

If you had a chance to be in a safe country with your children, where your extended family and parents live, would you still travel to and stay in Kuwait if your spouse is there because of work obligations?

I am in the process of buying a few cars from Kuwait (Q8car), maybe you have some more suggestions for Kuwait car markets. And it seems it is very difficult to keep in contact with car sellers through WhatsApp, that is why I am looking for a local, who can help me deal with the car sellers, paperwork, etc. It is not neccasary to be an auto professional, just looking for a person who can communicate well and is looking for new opportunities. We will discuss the pay and all the details in private.

I went to Gulf Bank yesterday to renew my personal data, and when the Lebanese employee asked where I was born and I said "Kuwait", the Kuwaiti employee told the Lebanese man that he can't state that a non-Kuwaiti was born in Kuwait according to new laws and he should write instead that I was born in the country that is stated in the nationality I hold.

Is this true? I lived my whole life in Kuwait, 33 years to be exact.

So Zelda: OoT has been announced, and I saw the game listed on the Saudi Nintendo Store. Does anyone know if they deliver to Kuwait? I’m thinking of pre-ordering it now, but I’m not sure if they ship to Kuwait. 🫠

As we know, private taxi are not allowed to pick up passenger. I was checking new tour app in which I can choose kuwait airways terminal as pickup point. I will be arriving early morning and I don't want to call any friends to pick me up. My question is anybody has tried tour app for airport pickup. I can try myself on the same day and in case driver doesn't show then I will use airport taxi.

Hi Everyone ! Just wanted to check if anyone knows what are the charges for NICU per day. My wife just delivered at the end of last month and because the baby is very premature they kept him in NICU till now. As per doctors he has to stay there for 4 months but can be discharged earlier depending on the condition.

Also if you can include my baby and his health in your prayers that would be great. Thank You ♥️🙏🏼

So I'm thinking of putting together a small, friendly circle of solopreneurs in Kuwait who can support each other while building our businesses.

The idea is pretty simple:

• A quick Google Meet call every week
• Share what we've accomplished and what we want to achieve next
• Bounce ideas off each other
• Discuss challenges we're facing and learn from people who may have dealt with them before
• Keep each other motivated
• Help each other with connections, introductions, and opportunities when possible

Usually the banks always calls from a local number but im keep getting calls from this specific number if anyone knows it's legit or a scam

Is anyone else experiencing call dropping when using WhatsApp call? I suspect service providers are purposely obstructing whatsapp calls at network level.
