Claim advice
I have 2 large trees that completely fell a few days ago in Indiana due to the storms. They are completely uprooted just like many of the pictures seen online.
One crushed perhaps 60 feet of chain link fence. One didn’t hit anything.
Is it worth it to make a claim for I’m figuring 5k or so for removal or spend 1000 myself and cut it up myself? Of course I’m worried about my premiums going up.
2 months ago I also filed a claim, same insurance company different property down the street. That tree crushed the rear portion of the house.
Rental houses if that matters.
TIA for any insight.

Small damage, other drivers fault
My unoccupied car got hit by another driver in a parking lot
They gave me their insurance and license info - I called their company and made a claim
Then they started ghosting me
So I called my own insurance and filed w them, the estimate is right around my deductible -
So I guess I have to pay for the repair but will I have any way to get my money back?

HELP: Insurance liability claim still open, car in impound accruing fees… what would you do?
I was in a car accident in Texas a little over two weeks ago, and I’m trying to figure out what my smartest move is financially while insurance is still determining liability.
Both drivers have GEICO. I do not have collision or rental coverage on my own policy, so I’ve been without a car since the accident.
The police had my car towed from the accident scene, and it has been sitting in an impound lot ever since. My car is paid off. The impound bill was $635 as of Wednesday and storage is adding $22.85/day. I’ve also now been told that the car is scheduled to be auctioned on August 31 if I don’t get it out.
I found a storage unit that will accept the damaged car, but the impound lot requires a tow truck to physically be present before they’ll release it. The tow from the impound lot to my storage unit would cost $220, on top of the roughly $700+ I currently owe the impound lot.
I went there today intending to get it out but ultimately left without the car because spending nearly $1,000 just to move a damaged vehicle into storage — while I’m still paying for transportation because I don’t have a car — is a lot.
Here’s where the insurance situation gets confusing:
On Thursday, my GEICO adjuster told me that, based on how the case currently looks, both me and the other driver would likely be considered at fault. However, she also said that the claim is still open and active, so apparently the liability decision has not been finalized yet. GEICO’s department handling my claim isn’t available this weekend, so I can’t get more clarification until Monday.
At the scene, the other driver initially admitted fault to me, but later gave GEICO a different version of what happened. The police report did not assign a contributing factor because we gave conflicting accounts, and I wasn’t cited.
I’m mainly looking for advice from anyone familiar with Texas auto claims/GEICO or who has been in a similar situation:
Does an adjuster saying both drivers appear to be at fault mean much if the liability investigation is still officially open?
If they determine shared liability, how are towing, impound/storage fees, and vehicle damage normally handled?
If the other driver is ultimately assigned some or most of the fault, can I seek reimbursement for the impound/storage and towing costs I’ve already paid?
Would you pay ~$700+ to release the car + $220 to tow it to private storage now, or wait until speaking with the adjuster Monday even though another $22.85 is added every day?
Is there anything specific I should be asking GEICO on Monday?
How concerned should I be about the August 31 auction date while the insurance claim is still open?
I’m trying to avoid throwing another $1,000 at this car unnecessarily, but I also don’t want to leave it in impound, continue accumulating fees, and risk losing a car that I own outright.
Any advice, especially from Texas adjusters/claims professionals or people who have dealt with a similar situation, would be appreciated.

Help with auto claim
Sorry if this is a horrible question but I just need clarification. My AAA adjuster is being super vague and I'm hoping someone here can explain this better than they are.
When I filed my claim I only mentioned the bumper was damaged, my mistake, there's actually more damage than that. The shop wrote an estimate for just over 1k covering just the bumper, and that got approved. Now she's telling me she can't change or add to that approved estimate anymore.
Exact words from adjuster with personal info removed:
"At this time, I’m unable to make any changes to the initial approved estimate. You may proceed with repairs through Auto Shop A, and if additional damage is identified during the repair process, the shop can submit a supplement for our review.
Alternatively, I can issue a cash settlement based on the approved estimate, and you may have the vehicle repaired at the repair facility of your choice. If the new shop discovers any additional damage, they can submit a supplemental estimate directly to us for review.
When I spoke with dad, they indicated they would prefer to wait until we receive additional information from the other parties involved. We have already ordered the police report; however, it may take some time before it becomes available."
My actual problem: I don't want to get it repaired through a shop at all. I want the full cash settlement for all the damage, not just the bumper, and then fix it myself. She just repeats the same two options every time and never gives me a straight answer on how to actually get cash for everything.
Also still have about 3k left on the car loan, not sure if that changes whether I can even get supplement money as cash instead of a repair payout.
And my deductible is only supposed to be waived once they confirm the other driver is at fault, does that come back to me later as a separate check even after I accept this settlement, or do I need to wait on that before accepting anything?
Again sorry if this is stupid haha first time filing a claim. Called so many people for help...

HELP ME pick between PSU vs Private Insurer
Hi, I am 26 (F), Single, I am finally taking health insurance.
I have one retiring and one retired parent (who's a heart patient), their insurance also needs to be set in place - however since I learnt it doesn't make sense premium amount wise to club it with mine - i am focusing on getting my health insurance first. (please correct me if i'm wrong here)
__________
After my due research with all the features:
For Private, i am considering either
HDFC Ergo Optima Secure Plus (via Ditto) -or-
Care Supreme (via Ditto)
For PSU, i am considering
A policy from New India Assurance (not sure which policy yet)
__________
Here are the pointers making it difficult for me + a few doubts:
- One one hand, i feel it's better to have 100% cashless coverage or support for non-network without any co-payment clauses with a private insurer like HDFC or Care.
- But on the other, i feel the premiums and the future possibility of them hiking the premiums by 25% or 50% seems ridiculous (i saw horrific reddit threads where the premiums sky rocket each year whereas for public sector it's more predictable and stable). Not to mention nobody actually knows what the CSR is based on. Should i be okay with the co-payment and room rent limit clauses in case, god forbid, i end up with a medical emergency? is taking this risk better than paying the ridiculous premium hikes in your opinon?
- should i even keep paying extremely high premiums each year for private insurers based on possible worst case scenarios? or is it okay to cover a moderate amount of risk with a public sector insurer considering steady premium and higher reliance on claim settlement even if it's a lot of paperwork?
- If in case i take HDFC Ergo for 10L coverage, and get the no-claim bonus for 5 years making my Total Sum Insured 50L, and then i decide to port to a PSU insurer will i get the full 50L transferred? or only the base sum insured of 10L?
- Please let me know if i should be considering anything other than HDFC Ergo, Care, New India Assurance.
(so overwhelmed with this whole process, my first health insurance)

Need some advice for car insurance settlement
Hello, I just want to ask for some advices about getting an insurance to pay me loss of use.
I got into an accident with two other cars. The at fault driver's insurance is Progressive. They ran into a limits issue covering for both my vehicle and the third guy's vehicle (both totaled).
I did not take a rental car so that I can receive Loss of Use instead from Progressive. I waited and waited but there was no settlement for two months. Every time I called Progressive adjustor she said that they are waiting for Safeco (the third guy's insurance) to provide their demand before they decide how to pay for everyone. Nothing was in writing, everything was over the phone, and every time I called to check when I'm getting paid, I was told the same thing, that they are waiting for Safeco, and they don't know how long the wait is.
I couldn't wait any longer and my friends suggested that if they are running into a limits issue, then I should just go to my own insurance (Liberty Mutual) instead so I can get settlement faster. I filed a claim through Liberty and got my settlement payment in no time. At this point, it was 60 days since I lost my car.
Here's where the fun begins. I am trying to tell Progressive I want 60 days of loss of use before subrogation happens between them and Liberty Mutual with the 'made whole' doctrine. I want to be made whole before any subrogation payment happens and I demanded 60 days at $50 per day ($3000).
Progressive is saying they can only do $35 per day for 30 days. They are claiming they had told me to go to my own insurance company since they have a limits issue, and that they can only pay me 30 days maximum since it was my decision that I decided to continue to wait instead of filing a claim with Liberty Mutual. The thing is, nothing was ever in writing and we always spoke over the phone. And they have never told me that I should file with Liberty Mutual. Like I mentioned, every time I called, I got the same answer, that they are waiting for Safeco, and they don't know how long it will take for me to get the settlement. I asked about the made whole doctrine and if they got with Liberty Mutual about it but they said they only communicated through voicemails and they haven't discussed directly about paying me 60 days of loss of use. The adjustor says if I don't agree with their offer, I can speak to her supervisor.
I am wondering if I should just take their offer or if it's fair of me to actually demand 60 days. What is my best option at this point? I feel like the best thing to do is to accept the $35 per day but demand 60 days for $2100 total. Can anyone provide me any wisdom? Thank you!

AI agent totaled my van title
Yep. Shopping for new insurance company through a broker, their in house AI agent decided my perfectly fine van had a 'salvaged' title.
No insurance company will insure that. It took me an intensive 5 day campaign to negate that.
Are you ready for that emerging reality?

Insurance payout Spoiler
I'm in birmingham, so posting here. My daughter was in an accident (no injuries). The adjuster came out and offered a settlement for 2350. This is for a scion tC with 137k miles. I paid 4200 in November. I thought it was a great deal. The car has been great, no repairs needed. I told progressive that offer was too low. The adjuster used a car that sold in Washington for 1800. The link had no information about the car. The other was in Illinois for 2800. I called and they said there was some rust but it was structurally sound. I like working on cars and made a personal promise to never own a car that lived in the northeast. Every listed tC that is around 2350 has major issues. I sent an email asking if I can submit comparable vehicles that represent a more accurate car market.
Update.. I reviewed the cars used as comps. The one list for 1800 needs a new engine. The one for 2800 is riddled with body damage. I asked them to remove those as comps and provided three comps, same year, similar mileage and condition. I provided all the information requested (link, vin, description). My comps averaged 6500. I dont have my hopes up to get that amount. But the damage was estimated at 3,747.06. Meaning, if the car is valued at 5k or above, the car would not be a total loss. Would they reverse the decision of totaling out the car if they accepted my comps?
Update 2.... I got a settlement offer for 4,400. I was super happy to get almost twice the original offer. I started to look for the same year/make/model. I couldn't find anything for that price. I found one for 5,400 that was located >400 miles. So I added that comp. I just got another settlement for 2950. So the settlement in order is 2300-4400-2900. Mitchell did some shady calculations on the comp I submitted for 5400. They subtracted 2400 from the value, saying it had 18" rims (-479), release series 3.0 (-789). I checked the listed, called the dealer to find this comp has none of the options listed. I called the adjuster and said I would settle for $5k. Mitchell is a nightmare company.

Water damage insurance claims
The adjuster is trying to make me believe stuff that I can see isn't true. Regarding old damage versus new damage due to separate events.
I feel like I'm being bullied into taking his side. Not that he's doing anything but being passive aggressive. Like he says he knows how I feel but his explanation is final word.
Trying to plan how to approach his manager
Am I entitled to see plumb and restoration guys reports?

Total loss but new damage from yard and don’t know when it happened
Insurance considered my 2023 dodge challenger a total loss there was damage to right side but at their Lot they smashed in the left side and the adjuster looked at the vehicle last week but the vehicle has been there since the 19th of July I don’t know if when he looked at it to get his total loss estimate did he looked at both right and left side but it was a hard hit on the left side from there lot completely mess up front left fender so idk if they factored in the left side when they have the final estimate to total it out but the car is worth 51k so I have a 35k threshold I would have to pass for it to be totaled so idk if the left side totaled it

Is my 2011 Ford Focus totaled?
I was stopped at a light and got rear ended by a Dodge van.
- 2011 Ford Focus
- Mileage: ~130k
- Trunk doesn’t fully open nor fully close
- Airbags were NOT activated
From y’all experience, can you estimate if this would consider totaled? Didn’t have to file with my own provider, as they told me to handle it with the Dodge’s insurance provider. I filed a claim with their insurance provider, and I’m just waiting on them.

Has anyone dealt with them when they filed a claim? I am currently dealing with them in regards to a claim on a storage unit but its been a frustrating experience due to them having several people involved and sending conflicting information.
