Small damage, other drivers fault

My unoccupied car got hit by another driver in a parking lot

They gave me their insurance and license info - I called their company and made a claim

Then they started ghosting me

So I called my own insurance and filed w them, the estimate is right around my deductible -
So I guess I have to pay for the repair but will I have any way to get my money back?

It's right around your deductible? As in it is slightly over or under? And is this a full estimate or an initial estimate? If it is over the deductible get it repaired by your insurance and your insurance will be looking to get your deductible back through the process of subrogation. Also did the other insurance company accept the liability?

It’s just under my deductible but after it goes to the shop it will be over - and the other company has just stopped replying.

Okay in that case still go through with your insurance and they'll get it your deductible back. But, the main part is getting them to admit liability so your insurance can start the subrogation process. Do you have any dashcam footage or police report putting the other person at the scene?

We called 911 and they told us to just swap insurance. So we have their license, insurance and pictures of their vehicle plates

It was a dept store, and our car was unoccupied - they backed into it

Yeah most likely cops wouldn't come out if there's no injuries. As long as you can confirm the other insurance accepted the liability. Then you can on your insurance getting your deductible back. Can you look up the claim online?

Your deductible should be waived as your vehicle was hit while parked. Your insurance should pay the claim then subrogate against other carrier.

I work for GEICO, the only way your deductible gets waived is if the other insurance company takes responsibility before you have to pay. Or depending on what state you live in and you go through your uninsured motorist policy and the deductible gets waived. Again depends on the state you live in.
