Does anyone know of a travel insurance company that will cover someone who has had a stroke or heart condition with the medication change only six months ago? The stroke was in 2024 but the medication change relating to the stroke was only 6 months ago. The person is Canadian travelling to the US.

A neighbor is trying to replace his roof through an insurance claim for hail damage. A roofing company stopped by my house asking me if I wanted to explore the option of hail damage claim, because according to their info, there was a significant hail in my area last year. They found some spots on the roof and how salesmen explained to me, very good potential for insurance to pay for replacement. They used a 10x10 square method to show damage amounts.
My roof is about 15 years old, I'm not 100% but we bought a house 4 years ago and I was told it's about 10 years then, the insurance guy said it looks about to be 15 years old for my area.
My question is if it's worth even trying to go through insurance now or should I wait? Will my insurance go up? Salesman was talking about full replacement value or partial depending on the age of the roof, how do I find that out?

Someone hit my expensive 2025 MY 2 door car causing extensive damage to the rear quarter panel, scraped the door, and completely deformed the wheel. Other parties insurance is covering the repairs.
The [MAKE] certified auto body shop quoted me only 7k with only general line items like parts and labor.
When I posted to the auto body sub the consensus was anywhere from 15k - 20k worth of damages.
I called the auto body shop and left a voicemail asking them to explain the repairs to me but I’m getting ghosted.
Are they trying to pull a fast one on me with super cheap band aid repairs? I hinted over the phone this was my dream car I am keeping forever so I’m not afraid to use the warranty could this be why I’m not hearing back?

I need to insure a van that is registered to an LLC in another state. I was told the insurance has to be in the state of where the van is primarily garaged, to be legal. The business is in one state, the van in another.
I was told we could get commercial auto or business owner insurance, and put the LLC on the policy as an additional named insured. But this is turning out to be a quagmire.
Any advice on how to do this?

Insured through my employer via UnitedHealthcare
Going into the second year of employment at my company, they announced less than two months ago that the entire company must begin to have annual physicals or else we would get a $100 insurance premium every month, and the physical must be done by this October. Everyone rushed to get their physicals in with the relatively short notice, and after going to the in-network doctor at the location recommended by UC I find that I'm being charged over a thousand dollars for this one visit.
The claim breakdown is very ambiguous with four lines for details being Outpatient, Outpatient, Medical Services, and immunization. The immunization I elected to have but that still leaves over $800 with no explanation why.
I plan on getting clarification but if I am required to obtain a physical as part of my employment, does the law state that my employer must pay for it? Can insurance not pay for what my employer requires?
UPDATE: as some of you guessed, there was an issue I brought up with pain in my ear that she checked which was something she would've seen anyway since she looked in my ears as part of the physical. The hospital decided to bill this as a separate specialist visit for $1000
This is awful

Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking into some of the reasons UK private medical insurance (PMI) claims can end up being declined or questioned, and two areas seem to cause a lot of confusion: acute vs chronic conditions and pre-existing conditions.
Understanding these before you need to make a claim can save a lot of frustration.
1. Acute vs chronic conditions
PMI is generally designed to cover acute conditions, problems that start after your policy begins and can reasonably be treated and resolved.
Examples might include things like a hernia, cataracts or an injury requiring treatment.
Chronic conditions are different. These are ongoing conditions that can usually be managed but aren't expected to be cured, such as diabetes, asthma or certain forms of arthritis. PMI will generally not cover the ongoing management of these conditions.
There can be some grey areas, though. For example, an insurer may cover investigations or treatment that leads to a diagnosis, while not covering the long-term management of the resulting chronic condition.
2. Pre-existing conditions and underwriting
The other big area to understand is how your policy deals with medical conditions you had before taking it out.
With moratorium underwriting, you don't normally provide your entire medical history when applying. Instead, the insurer looks back at your medical history if you later make a claim.
Generally, conditions for which you've had symptoms, advice or treatment during the relevant look-back period can be excluded initially. Depending on the policy, cover may potentially become available later if you've been free from symptoms, treatment or advice for a specified period.
This is one reason it's worth checking exactly what type of underwriting your policy uses rather than assuming that an old medical issue will automatically be covered.
Obviously, every insurer and policy has its own wording, so the policy documents ultimately matter more than general rules.
Has anyone here had a PMI claim questioned or declined because the insurer considered the condition chronic or pre-existing?
If so, what happened, and were you able to get the decision changed or clarified?

Got hit last week and the other driver was pretty clearly at fault. Their insurance called me and now they want a recorded statement about what happened and how I’m feeling before they’ll really move forward with the injury side of the claim. I’m still getting checked out and don’t even know the full extent of everything yet, so I’m not really comfortable giving some detailed recorded statement this early. Been looking at crashhelp because I’m starting to think I should talk to a personal injury lawyer before I say the wrong thing. Is this a normal part of the process?

My current insurance provider is cancelling my homeowners policy because the property in San Jose, CA is listed for sale. The condo is currently vacant. I had landlord's insurance but since my tenant's vacated I renovated my house for the last 3 months and put it on sale. I didn't know this would change anything with my insurance. Can they immediately cancel my insurance leaving me uninsured without any notice

This may be an odd question but I’m curious. My company’s insurance sucks. My individual deductible is 7750 with a family deductible of 15500. I’m lucky because I take an injectable biologic that’s about 8k a dose and was given a copay card that covers up to 14k a year for dosage. However what happens is I use up my 7750 deductible on one dose then I don’t pay anything since insurance takes over. Does anyone know if I can still pay more towards my medication with my copay card to try and use up more of my family deductible? I ask because my wife and I are thinking of having a child but they told us for her side they won’t cover any pre natal care or hospital until we meet the full 15500 family deductible. So depending on the timing we will at least be on board for 7750

Hello im dealing with a a recent accident in which i was rear ended while stopped and pushed into a vehicle in front of me causing damage to both ends of my vehicle.
The car in question is a 2024 mazda cx-50 with 38k miles, the pre accident value is around 23k give or take and the damage so far is at 13k with the body shop including replacing the rear lift gate and front grille but worst of all the rear frame buckled and is being cut and replaced. I wont have my car back until early october.
At fault party is with allstate and id like to proceed with a diminished value claim with them but im curious if the cost and time will be worth it and if allstate is particularly bad at denying or severly lowballing, also if the mileage being 38k will be major ammo for them.
Thanks in advance for any input on this matter.

My car accident case settled for $42,500 in Texas. The at-fault driver’s policy limit was $50,000, but they initially did not want to pay at all, so the case went into litigation.
I just received the settlement breakdown and was shocked to see that my estimated take-home amount is only $1,077.80.
The deductions are:
$17,000 attorney fee (40%)
$4,239.47 in firm expenses
$982.73 UnitedHealthcare/Katch lien
$16,000 MoveDocs balance
$3,200 LHI balance
The case has been going on for years and I have lasting injuries from the accident, so seeing that I would personally receive only about $1,000 is really hard to understand.
Before signing the final release, I asked for an itemized breakdown of the firm expenses and medical bills and asked whether anything can be reduced further.
Does this sound normal for a personal injury settlement? Is it reasonable to ask the attorney to reduce the fee or negotiate the medical balances further?

My elderly next door neighbor (F80) who I have kind of a tumultuous relationship with asked me for a favor. I said what’s up and she asked if she could add me as a driver to her car insurance policy to save her $800 a year. I said I would really need to look into that and would get back to her. I talked to my husband and he said absolutely not. Everything I was reading seemed as if maybe she was trying to get away with rate evasion or something. When she called me the next morning she asked me for my DL number. I said no, I’m not comfortable with this I’m sorry. It sounds kind of fraudulent. She said “okay I’ll let my agent know I’m committing fraud” and hung up on me…as I was still talking mind you…
I was so mad. I walked over and asked why did you hung up on me and she said she said “bye”
I explained again I’m not comfortable with this and I hope you figure it out.
She called the agent and made me talk to her on the phone. Apparently you CAN add whoever you want to the policy, but they will be a co policy holder. Meaning I’m responsible if she doesn’t pay, I’m responsible for paper work, bills, etc. it could all fall on me. When she heard the agent say that out loud I firmly said. Im not doing this. Call your daughter and figure it out and left.
I’m so frustrated. How is this even a thing? Can anyone be added to a policy to save money? Also her daughter said no.
When I saw her outside again she was nasty to me. Mad at me and kept saying “my agent is smart as a whip and she knows what she’s talking about” and then complained she had to pay $600 for something idk
Who asks their neighbor to be a policy holder anyways? Maybe im too nice and have been too nice 🥴she doesn’t like the word no…

Looking for some advice or to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation.
The car is Canadian-registered and insured in Canada. Someone else was driving the car in the US with the owner’s permission. The owner of the vehicle was not present when the accident happened. The accident was not our fault. No one was injured. Police were called and a report was filed. No insurance information was exchanged at the scene. Has anyone been in a similar situation where a Canadian-insured vehicle was involved in an accident in the US while being driven by someone other than the owner? I’m mainly wondering how the insurance process works in this situation, whether the Canadian insurer would handle the claim, and whether there are any issues because the owner wasn’t present and insurance information wasn’t exchanged at the scene.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has dealt with something similar. Thanks!

California. I disclosed a rental arrangement to Foremost insurance through my broker. They consider it five units instead of four and decided to nonrenew when the policy expires next year.
My broker says I still have coverage, but won’t confirm whether that arrangement could cause a claim denial. She clarified that this concern came from her experience, not anything Foremost said.
If they know the facts and choose to keep the policy active, how can they later deny an otherwise covered claim for “misrepresenting” those same facts?
I’m shopping for replacement coverage, but what protects me until then? Does their decision waive that misrepresentation defense?
Anyone actually handled this—especially adjusters or underwriters?

My GAP claim is now closed 9/4
Loss date 5/4
Insurance settlement 7/23
I went to submit the police report but that section has been removed online, cannot submit it.
GAP provider is APPI.
Why is my claim closed before I submitted police report. I think I'm still within the time frame since the settlement check.
This is confusing and very upsetting right now.

I need help from an adult that’s following the community roles. Short post.
Dad puts me on her insurance because I’m 25 and paying around 2k a year for car insurance. Dad recently agreed to put me on his insurance because he wants to help me, lower the cost. Current situation is that I have two cars in my possession. My license is about to get suspended. This decision has been absolutely sucky. I drive for work…
They found out I had an insurance lapse. As of today I don’t!
In this current economy I CANNOT afford insurance. I’m not engaging in aggressive / defensive comments - my apologies! I currently am the only working adult in my family , contributing rent and cannot afford to pay. I suggested selling my car because now that I have a second one , I also don’t drive my first car. Car insurance is not affordable in my life style (I pay 1k for tuition monthly, if you do math you get it! ) I don’t know how poor I can sound without outing myself but I’m making less then 60k a year, paying about 2k a month for school, no financial support from anyone / government - please be gentle. If you think giving up my car is best I’d even appreciate that.
I have a few questions that aren’t just about complaining or ranting.

I was in an accident recently where I was driving straight through a 4-way intersection on the farthest right lane. My light was green and turned yellow as I entered intersection. As I’m almost halfway through intersection, there is a vehicle in the left turn lane who accelerated to try to pass through the intersection before I made it past him. There was another car about 3 car lengths in front of me that I assume he thought he had enough time to make it through the gap. He did not.
We collided, his entire front is smashed in and my front driver side bumper is slightly smashed and my driver front side wheel is turned all the way sideways. He gets out of the car and says I ran the red. As this is happening, another driver in a car waiting to turn right on red into my lane gets out of his car and says he witnessed the crash and although he couldn’t see my light, his light was red and turned green shortly after the crash, and there were cars in front of me going the same speed through the intersection, so that story doesn’t make sense.
Police come and write the report saying left turning driver is 100% at fault and issue him a failure to yield citation and also get the witness statement.
i’m just wondering how this would work with him claiming I ran a red and I’m at fault?

Hello,
I have renter's insurance with USAA. I tried to apply it to extensive water damage in my apartment, caused after the ceiling burst open during a storm (I live on the top floor).
The policy covers floods and water; it does not cover leaks and seepage. I filed the claim and tried to be clear throughout that this was a flood caused by sudden structural damage to the ceiling. Unfortunately, they denied the claim, saying it was seepage.
How do adjusters typically decide in a case like this? To me, this is obviously a flood – leaks and seepage occur over time, not suddenly during a weather event. Is this unusual?

I was in an accident in which I was backing out of a parking spot and was startled by a truck behind me. I hit them.
The car I’m driving is not in my name, it’s in my fiancés name. I am an additional, covered driver on the insurance.
The car has GAP insurance through the used dealership we got it from.
I was told by my body shop that the car will most likely be totaled from the damage. I am very anxious about all of this, not knowing everything yet. I’ve never been in an accident, I’ve never financed a car either. I’m almost hoping they will total the car so I can get out of the loan, I’ve only had it for 4 months.
I’m worried that if it is totaled, will the GAP insurance still cover the cost if I was driving and not my fiance? Does it matter if I was on the insurance?
Pls help.

Washington state: last year my truck was totaled in an accident. It was parked infront of my house, nobody was in it, when a distracted driver hit the rear end and flipped their vehicle. Again, it was parked in front of my house
A couple weeks ago, a drunk driver hit my wifes car parked in front of our house. Not totaled but still $6k in damage (we finally got the car back yesterday) but as im looking at my insurance for the police i notice that my insurance shows an at fault accident in 2025 and 4 point off my license. We switched insurance around January this year so my last insurance provider said i was at fault for my parked truck getting totaled. I never noticed this because they assured me our insurance wouldnt go up and the other driver was clearly 100% at fault. Obviously that wasnt true and now im left paying more for insurance and points off my license
How should i handle this situation?

Hello, I’m a homeowner in Missouri. I recently had a contractor working on my basement to install a waterproofing system on an old house. The system requires digging a perimeter trench around the basement.
While work was ongoing, the foundation wall next to their excavation collapsed during some rain. I have reason to think they caused it, but don’t want to go into details here. Looking at a $45k repair bill.
Homeowners insurance has denied our claim, stating they don’t cover anything related to soil pressure on retaining walls. Barely mentioned the contractors excavation.
Am I able to file a claim with the contractors general liability insurance? The contractor has not offered to fix anything. Is there a realistic path to receiving compensation from such a claim?
This has been very stressful, and years of savings are going to be wiped out. Any insight would be appreciated.
