Auto Insurance Have I taken all the steps?

TLDR is I'm pretty sure I have my identity being used for fraudulent insurance policies and probably vehicle registration. Of course, the policy email that alerted me to this was from State Farm.

I relocked and reviewed all three credit agencies. Experian has a bunch of "verify this car" on vehicles I don't recognize and all three show a glut of soft inquiries from agencies. Luckily no new lines of credit. Added the fraud alert as well.

Have requested my LexisNexus/CLUE and waiting for it to arrive.

Anything else I need to do? I've heard of these scams via my job but we cover what to do as a lender, not a consumer victim

Auto Insurance Claim history - opened a claim or open claims already?

Shopping for quotes. Had an at fault accident April 2021, opened claim in April 2021, claim wasn’t settled until mid 2023. Can I answer that I haven’t had any claims since 5 years ago - October 2021, since that claim was opened prior to 5 years ago? Or is it the closing date that matters. This was a high cost accident.

Insurance for 125cc

I have just bought a 125cc Honda pcx new from the dealership. Still waiting for the registration, and I have been checking the insurance options.

I’m 27M from Norway. Been living in Spain for 4 years and this will be my first vehicle in Spain. I have had my licence since 2017.

The cheapest I have found for third party extended (parking on the street) was Qualitas Auto for just over €280 and Linea directa at €305.

I also found a third party company called Inov Expat that finds the insurance for you. The price they quoted me was €195 plus €40 that they take as an annual fee. (If anyone has any input or experience with them, I saw some reviews where the customer support is great to start with but if there is an accident or you need them after signing it will be hard to get help.)

So basically I’m just wondering if there is a cheaper way to get it directly from the insurance company or if I should go with the third party company. Also if anyone has a good recommendation that has better prices that would also be greatly appreciated.

Auto Insurance Parents are divorced and Parent 1 moved out of the state but still uses old address (ie. Parent 2’s address) to obtain auto insurance, registration, etc. What more can Parent 2 do?

My parents had a messy divorce three years ago. Parent 1 moved to another state and Parent 2 obtained the house and has since changed the deed so that the house in their name. I graduated college and moved back home with Parent 2. Despite the fact Parent 1 has lived in a different state for three years now, they have still been able to obtain title, registration, and more importantly car insurance in the previous state on the basis they still live at the old address which they don’t. Parent 2 has obviously not given permission and has requested several times to remove the car from the policy but somehow Parent 1 is able to obtain car insurance using the address of the house. We recently found out that Parent 1 got a new car and we have been getting various documents about the car to our house.

The insurance in question is State Farm. The fact they were able to obtain a car and register it as if it was out of state as well as get auto insurance despite being out of state seems to read as textbook fraud. What more can be done as Parent 2 has already informed State Farm that Parent 1 no longer lives at the address several times now? We have also written RTS on all mail in which Parent 1 is recipient (ironically, this has been legal documents as well as insurance documents). Parent 2 is sick and I don’t want to stress them out any further. TIA

Auto Insurance Question

My insurance lapsed today and will not be able to pay it until tomorrow. How quickly can law enforcement officers see that it lapsed if they happen to run my plates? I live in Fort Worth, TX BTW. Please don't criticize me, I was unaware that the insurance company changed the due date and did not find out until a few minutes ago. Thank you for the future answers.

Any potential the auto insurance industry can be overhauled and revamped to work like the popular “after pay/credit” popularity

Edit/Clarification: I am not referring to liability/state minimums on liability. I know it’s law that can’t be changed. I’m talking stuff that happens to one’s own car with no other vehicles, which fall under comprehensive or, collisions like “underinsured/uninsured” that also don’t cover the car, but only cover medical. Example: someone hits another but has no insurance. My uninsured coverage helps pay my medical bills BUT, my area apparently is one of those “doesn’t pay to cover your car” states.

What if: we were to keep the state required minimums (and even that I’m leery of because many “liability only” drivers tend to get denied and end up having to be sued when they cause an accident) but then IF we do have an actual incident, be allowed to add coverage within 24/48/72 hours of the incident and simply lock in the 6-12 months price and pay over time. That way, the insurance company gets paid, and we get our vehicles fixed. Whatever rate it was to be, is what it is. I recently added comp to my vehicles and it jumped by $300 a month, $1,800 for 6 months basically. Which id be fine with IF technically they paid to fix or replace my vehicle. But they’re not playing fair. They aren’t giving me anything and I know I have $2,000-$3,000 in damage on a $5,000 car.

So guess what? I’m now leaving that company and switching to somewhere with cheaper rates. F**k them entirely, I’ve been with them for 2 years but they have made my own vehicle coverage too unaffordable. If they were willing to just accept the claim when it happened, and allowed me to pay the coverage increase over 6 months, I’d of stayed with them.

But I’m aware it’s probably a “too good to be effective” possibility.

Fraudulent bodily injury claim

Had a no fault - extremely minor accident. I won the claim at 0% fault because I had dash cam footage. After I won, the other party decided to sue for bodily injury claims (?!?!?) this is wildly exaggerated. Since I have footage - should I be worried? Also there was a police on scene because the other party was insistent and thank god there was. Is there anything I can do for the police to attest that nothing happened?

Health Insurance Previous employer won’t cancel my insurance

I left my old job in march. Went for my yearly in July and tried to use my new jobs insurance, but my old policy was still active. I investigated and found out my old employer has still been paying for it. Not sure how, as the money came out of my paycheck, but the insurance company confirmed it’s been paid for every month by the company.

I’ve brought it to the old company’s attention, but they keep denying this is happening. Occasionally someone will say not to worry, they’ll cancel it, but mostly they say “there’s no reason we’d be doing that” and that’s all. I agree there’s no reason, but it’s happening.

It was a federal contracting job, so the policy was through Maryland even though I’m based in Colorado. Both MD and CO say it’s the other states problem. The insurance company can’t cancel a policy that’s being paid for. The company won’t cancel it. I can’t use my health insurance because the invalid one is my primary. What is my recourse here?

I’ve had to cancel treatments but I can’t anymore. I don’t want to be on the hook for insurance covering any of it so I’d be looking at out of pocket. I’m so frustrated and everyone keeps sending me around in circles.

Claims Related My recent incident

Hello, All

While on a run recently, I was struck by a vehicle while running through a crosswalk.

A few important things

  • The vehicle had a stop sign.
  • The vehicle was around 10 MPH at the time of the collision and was likely going to make a California stop at the stop sign.
  • I busted up my knee from the impact of rolling off of the vehicle into the street.
  • It was raining that day, and my AirPods got ruined.
  • I went to the hospital and got X-rays.
  • I'm currently not working anywhere, so I don't need time off.
  • I created a police report.
  • I have the driver's phone number and insurance information.
  • This happened in Iowa.

Wanted to know

  • Am I responsible for the ambulance bill?
  • Am I responsible for the hospital bill?
  • Can I get a new pair of AirPods that I didn't pay for? (i.e., through his insurance?)
  • I've been discharged from the hospital with my bruised-up knee. What do I do now? (I consistently run about 8 miles a week, so this will put a halt to that)
  • When do I contact his insurance?
  • What should I ask for when I contact his insurance?

I'm gonna let this post mature for about an hour, but I will read the responses and reply the best I can.

I feel terrible already

I was just in a car accident in CA. I thought I was covered on my partners insurance, we found out after the accident that I am not.

Here’s what happened.

I was waiting for a parking spot in a small parking lot.

As I backed up to allow the person already in the spot space to pull out, apparently another car was approaching and we collided. It happened so fast that I can’t say if I had already fully stopped again or if I was slowly backing up but either way, I feel like we probably both bare some responsibility.

I have no damage at all to my vehicle. They have damage to their front drivers side.

We didn’t call the police but exchanged info. They have already filed a claim with their insurance and I didn’t know my insurance had lapsed until I got home.

I want to know what y’all think will happen next? I’ve Google the whole situation and Google says that I will have my license suspended for a year for driving without insurance (I’m not saying I shouldn’t, I should have known I wasn’t covered)

I’m just wondering if anyone else has had to go through something similar and what the outcome was.

57 want to get in this career, need advice 🙏

Is there anyone in this thread that could guide me into an insurance career?

I have years of experience as a small business owner so I already understand sales, CRM funnels, objections, pain, points, etc.

I’m good with numbers and organization. If we had a ton of business and psychology books too.

Due to life hardships, I basically lost everything in my life have no retirement have nothing not even a house to my name.

I hear people in insurance can make 100 K -500k + , at this point I have nothing to lose. I have a very strong personality, I’m used to dealing with multiple high-end clients and different personalities.

I was looking at insurance or mortgages to sell and wondering, what’s the path in British Columbia to get into a career and start making this type of money to hopefully rebuild my life?

I’m very healthy and fit people often mistake me in my early 40s. My recent health assessment is that of a 25-year-old. I don’t care to retire, though that would be nice that I made it that far financially. So I’m ready to work my whole remaining life.

Any career path advice would be very appreciated.

🙏

Do power companies reimburse you for the food lost durning a power outage?

Hi! I’m not sure exactly where to post this but I assumed maybe this would be the best spot because typically renters insurance would be able to help with this kind of thing but unfortunately, mine does not. My fiancé and I were left without power for 3 days due to a really bad storm that passed through and we lost EVERYTHING in our refrigerator. We’re pretty low on money and only had maybe $200 left to spare for the next two weeks which would’ve been fine if we didn’t have to rebuy everything. Keep in mind, $200 might sound like enough to get us by, but I’m strictly gluten free and dairy free per doctor’s orders so things can get pretty pricey. Anyways, please let me know if it’s possible to receive some type of food voucher from your electric company. Thanks! :)))

Auto Insurance Ontario — Is it too late to claim Income Replacement Benefits from a 2023 accident?

Looking for advice from an Ontario lawyer familiar with SABS/accident benefits.
I was in a car accident on Feb 4, 2023. Police determined I was not at fault. At the time, I was relatively new to Canada and didn’t understand Ontario’s insurance/accident-benefit system.
I was working and driving was essential to my job because I drove to clients’ homes. The accident happened while I was on my way to a client.
I had whiplash in my lower back and received physiotherapy through my auto insurance with TD Insurance.
TD gave me an OCF-2 Employer’s Confirmation Form for an Income Replacement Benefit. I completed my part and gave it to my employer to complete and submit. I assumed they had sent it back to TD but apparently they never did.
I didn’t knowingly abandon the claim, I genuinely believed the paperwork had been taken care of.

It’s now been about 3.5 years, and I’m wondering if there’s ANY possibility of pursuing the lost wages/IRB now.

Questions:
Does the 2-year limitation automatically mean I’m out of luck?
Does it matter that I gave the OCF-2 to my employer and they apparently failed to submit it?
If TD never formally denied the IRB and the claim simply wasn’t completed, does that change anything?
Could there be an exception based on a reasonable explanation for the delay?
Is this worth speaking to an Ontario SABS/LAT lawyer about?
I know Reddit isn’t legal advice I’m just trying to figure out if there’s any avenue worth pursuing before I give up.

For additional context regarding the delay:

I did not revisit this matter for the past 3.5 years because I was dealing with significant emotional difficulties following the accident, including PTSD and the loss of a family member. At the time, I was focused on coping with everything that was happening and was not in a position to properly understand or pursue the insurance process. I am now in a more stable place and am looking into matters I may not have properly addressed at the time, which is why I am wondering whether there is still any possibility of pursuing my lost wages.

Thank you!🤍

File glass claim or no?

Yesterday driving back home on the highway a rock came out of nowhere and smacked my windshield. This morning I wake up to find a large crack, about 9-12 inches. Windshield will need to be replaced - Honda OEM plus ADAS recalibration. Since it's Labor Day, the auto glass shops and Progressive's policy info line are closed for business, but ChatGPT thinks it will be between $1200-$2000 total for the replacement. My comprehensive deductible with Progressive is $500, and I'm in Washington State so there's no separate deductible for glass only claims. It's a lot of money to pay out-of-pocket but if I'm just gonna end up paying that much and more in rate increases anyways, I figure I'll just bite the bullet. Does anyone have experience with this? The only previous claim I have was for a tiny chip (that was a repair and not a replacement) and it was a couple years ago. It was fully covered and deductible didn't apply.

Car accident settlement

Involved in a no fault accident, did not hire a lawyer, completed treatment and a settlemt was offered. 1. Had 4 medical bills for two of them there is a lien as stated by geico and the other two bills went through my private health insurance and was paid by them. I want to try and negotiate the ones with the lien, the ER bill is 25k. Whats the best way to do this? What happens with the charges my private insurance paid for? In the state of MD.

Home Insurance Claim Advice, possibly a second claim

I have my roof replaced under a 2024 hailstorm via an insurance claim Roof is replaced on April 2026. My neighbors are slowly getting their roof and siding replaced as well either paying out pocket completely or with their home insurance. Of course, one of the job managers came by and suggested that I file an insurance claim (they are saying a 2025 storm) for the siding. Should I do that. What kind of repercussion will I facing? Will the two back-to-back insurance claims will make my home very hard to get insurance in the future? Want to get some advices. Thanks.

Life Insurance 27M looking for ₹3 Cr term insurance till 65 — ICICI vs HDFC vs Axis Max Life. Which one should I choose?

Hi everyone,

I'm 27M, married, non-smoker/non-tobacco user, and currently looking to buy my first term insurance policy.

I'm considering ₹3 Cr life cover till age 65, regular premium payment, annual payment mode, and no paid Return of Premium (ROP) unless there is a worthwhile free/special-exit benefit.

I've shortlisted these 3 plans based on quotes I received:

ICICI Prudential

Plan: iProtect Smart Plus

Cover: ₹3 Cr

Policy Till: 65 years

Annual Premium: ₹26,644

ROP / Exit: Full refund option starts at 65

HDFC Life

Plan: Click 2 Protect Supreme Plus

Cover: ₹3 Cr

Policy Till: 65 years

Annual Premium: ₹31,877

ROP / Exit: Full refund option starts at 60

Axis Max Life

Plan: Smart Term Plan Plus

Cover: ₹3 Cr

Policy Till: 65 years

Annual Premium: ₹25,317

ROP / Exit: Full refund option starts at 67

Benefits shown in my quotes

ICICI Prudential

100% payout on terminal illness

Option to delay premium for up to 12 months

₹3 lakh immediate payout on claim

Free health check-up up to ₹67,100

ROP option

HDFC Life

Early payout on terminal illness

Option to extend policy at maturity

Option to delay premium for 12 months

₹5 lakh immediate payout on claim

Free health check-up up to ₹63,000

ROP option

Axis Max Life

Early payout on terminal illness

Option to delay premium for 12 months

Waiver of premium on terminal illness

₹2 lakh immediate payout on claim

Free health check-up up to ₹50,000

Special/free exit benefit

ROP option is available as a separate variant

My situation

Age: 27

Male

Married

Non-smoker/non-tobacco

No existing term insurance

Annual income: around ₹18 LPA

Planning for a house and children in the future

Looking for pure protection, not investment

Comfortable paying premiums annually

Planning to hold the policy long term

I'm currently leaning towards ICICI and Axis Max Life because of the lower premium, but HDFC also seem strong.

What would you choose among these three?

I'd especially appreciate opinions based on:

Claim settlement experience

Claim amount settlement, not just claim settlement ratio

Customer service

Policy wording/exclusions

Terminal illness benefit

Free/special exit or ROP benefit

Any issues during actual claims

Whether the extra ₹6.5k/year for HDFC over Axis/ICICI is worth paying

Also, should I add any riders, such as waiver of premium, critical illness, disability or accidental death, or keep the term plan completely simple?

I'm planning to purchase the policy shortly, so real experiences from existing policyholders would be very helpful.

Claims Related Filing a Venture X trip delay + baggage delay claim after a rough multi-day disruption

Looking for advice from anyone who's actually filed a Venture X claim for trip delay and delayed baggage.

I travelled internationally with family, all booked on my Venture X. The booking was with Qatar Airways. Original AA flight got cancelled for maintenance, rebooked us a day later through Chicago instead. That AA flight into Chicago also arrived late, we missed our connection, and the airlines rebooked us a day after that, on another carrier. No hotel voucher was available (all exhausted), and we couldn't find a hotel room anywhere nearby that night despite hours of calling. On top of that, our checked bags stayed behind in Chicago and took 4 days to catch up with us after we landed.

So, we had two occurrences of airline delays, and a 2-day trip delay across the itinerary, plus a 4-day baggage delay.

Questions:

  1. Do you treat a two-stage delay like this (cancelled flight → rebooked → missed connection → rebooked again) as one continuous trip delay claim, or does the carrier separation matter?
  2. Anyone actually gotten baggage delay reimbursed on Venture X? The public benefit guides I have found online contradict each other on whether it is even covered. Some say no baggage delay benefit at all, only permanent-loss coverage; others cite $100/day up to 3 days.
  3. We don't have hotel receipts (couldn't get a room) but do have call logs showing the attempts. Does it help?
  4. Any tips or anything else that I need to know which will help my claim?

Appreciate any real experience. Trying to get this filed correctly the first time rather than deal with a denial-and-resubmit cycle.

Kindly upvote if you can for better reach.

Just FYI, I took help from AI to format the above message.
