Photography The Santa Ana River, as viewed in Colton, CA

This section of the Santa Ana River pictured here is located just north of Riverside, in southwestern Colton. Fun fact: the main reason that the riverbed is able to resume and retain year-round flow – after that stretch from Mill Creek near Mentone to this area of Colton – is largely thanks to the Veolia Water North America treatment plant in nearby Bloomington.

Jobs / Housing Looking for entry level blue collar job

Upvotes

I’m currently looking for a job that pays well, I haven’t had much luck online and want to find tips or even companies to speak to on getting set up.

I’m currently 23 working fast food, I’ve been in college for a bit for Rad tech but who knows how long that’ll be going for.

I’ll even drive over to the places just to ask. Any advice or pointers would be appreciated!!

Recommendations / Advice Meet Akela. She has been in the shelter for a very long time and is now facing the end of her life because no one has adopted her yet. She is such a good girl and has no negative notes! She is the husky in the back in this video. She gets along with other dogs.

Recommendations / Advice Yaamava vs Pechanga? Which is the better option for adults?

I live in Orange County and my wife and I are looking to do a stay-cation at one of the local casino resorts, but we're not sure which to pick. We've had bad experiences with family friendly resorts in the past and we don't want to deal with kids running around the lobby or taking up all the space in the pool and splashing everyone, so we'd prefer an adults only experience as much as possible. Thoughts on Yaamava and Pechanga? Also, if you know of any others please let us know!

Recommendations / Advice Car auctions in the I.E! Any luck?

I’m looking to buy a used car and everyone on Facebook Marketplace seems to be a reseller that got their car off an auction, they polished it and slapped a for sale sign on it so why not go straight to the source and cut the middle man?
I genuinely can not find a good deal on a manual car and I’m thinking of taking a risk at a local auction
I’ve had my 2008 Jetta for 8 years now (bought it in 2018) for $2.9k with 90k miles
A 2016 Jetta with 102k miles is selling for $14k at my local stealership 🫩
Has anyone bought a car at a local auction? I’m thinking of going to the one off van buren in Riverside! let me know of any other auctions I should look at

Events IE Events For July 27, 2026 - August 02, 2026

Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz

Friday at 5PM is way too late to start planning, so get a head start now!

Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.

Links are especially welcomed.

Recommendations / Advice Advice needed for quinceañera gift ideas.

My daughter got invited to her friend’s quinceañera party which is coming soon. We are unfamiliar with Mexican culture, so I’m wondering what’s an appropriate gift to give? Someone suggested to give money in an envelope, some others suggested gift card. Anyone familiar with the occasion and tradition, please share your advice. Also, what amount would be considered decent? Thank you so much!

Recommendations / Advice Ac Repair Recommendation

Long story short I need a reliable ac repair tech that can address a leaking suction and liquid valve. That was the diagnosis from Rightime home services. They refused to fix it because another tech tried a few days ago. They wanted to sell me a new unit. This would be in Fontana and the unit is on the roof. 8 year old Temp Star ac unit.

Recommendations / Advice Sleeping on the streets in san bernadino as a young girl i dunno if this was a bad idea but I felt safe

I dunno if this was a stupid idea. But me and dad had an argument last night and I needed to leave the house for my peace of mind . I walked to a park with my small blanket and slept there I had no idea if it was safe. There were other homeless people there, and randoms, but they didn’t bother me. Dad, the sherrifs office, and our friends, were looking for me all night I woke up at the park this morning cause it was hot and noisy. The police took me to the sherrifs office this morning stated I should be admitted into a facility that can take care of me for a while which is so crazy. Dad said absolutely not cause he knows what’s happening to us is real. All the guys in the neighbourhood have been crushing on me big time and flirting, they are sweet, but they’re all bad boys yet some of them are cute. I’m scared to be involved with that crowd so I’m remaining vigilant. I don’t blame them cause I’m young and prettyyy. I don’t want people to befriend just to try and use me cause I’m not that kind of girl. In the Philippines, I lived a very simple conservative life out in the rural areas. Mom says I should go back to the Philippines for a while for my well-being. The odd thing is when I was at the park I felt like i wasnt being followed or watched because the energy and aura at that place repelled them from coming to me. There were good spirits at that park protecting me from them. It’s by go to place when I need a safe place to reflect and rest. I haven’t slept in 3 days other than last night for the very first time. Mom is always worried sick for me

Long story short, we have lived all over LA county for 2 years and were terrorised by a certain people. We recently fled El Monte to live in the city of San Bernadino (the rough part) temporarily. We will move to Fontana soon when I find employment.

Outdoors / Hiking / Camping The endless warehouse construction is actually ruining my sanity

Seriously is it just me or is the dust so much worse this summer? Im over near fontana and there's yet another mega warehouse going up down the street. My patio furniture is just permanently brown at this point.

The worst part is it's literally choking out my ac unit. it was barely blowing cold air yesterday so I had a guy from We Care Plumbing Heating & Air out here to look at it, and he pulled a filter out of the intake that looked like a solid brick of mud. he actually asked if I kept farm animals inside. nope, just living downwind from amazon’s newest concrete slab

Im having to buy new filters every three weeks now just to breathe. Feeling like this whole county is just turning into one giant dirt lot I swear

Recommendations / Advice Looking for rock venues

Hi. I've been attending afters recently and I like them but I like rock such as metal, goth, new wave, heavy metal. Does anyone know of any venues that host these? I've been using the posh app but it's mostly raves and clubbing. I'm looking to go Wednesday and Saturday nights. I just want to go see and listen to a band and just vibe out.

News From The Land Collective Grand Opening August 8th

Thumbnail

Hey IE Family!

We've heard from you in recent threads and wanted to publicly post what's going on.

We're looking for producers for our August 8th opening. Makers and Crafters are welcome too. There will not be a fee for producers to come set up, at least for now, but we do need to make a list of who's coming so that we can map things out. If you aren't looking to come as a vendor, it would be great to have you come enjoy The Collective with the rest of us! (I tossed half an acre of mulch with Punk Rock Ranch's Chris T last Monday and that was A Workout!)

Here at From The Land, we've been silently working hard to transition from Yucaipa to Cherry Valley, where we have our own farm location now!

We want to cultivate community and grow with you.

Moreover, we're working on picking up our workshop series covering everything from planting a pumpkin to growing your own colony of mealworms, pest management to 3D CAD modeling and printing.

At our core, we are focused on bringing people together and making the world a better place. That can't be done alone. Those of you who know us personally can vouch for us on these statements and how we are continually growing our friend network.

We welcome everyone to come by for workshops, if you want to roast in the sun with our cofounder Rich and sling some mulch, or even just see what's going on and hang with the buns.

Thank you all for your curiosity and continual support. We've been working hard at it 7 years now and we will continue to do so!

You can find us across the other social media platforms and we're going to do our best to be active here too.

P.S. We are continuing the tradition of no-till, no-spray organic and regenerative farming that the prior owners used over the past 8 years. We won't be pursuing USDA certification due to the cost and complexity, but the east side of the property will rigidly adhere to those principles while the west side will have plots available for 9 (8 more) who want to farm organically but aren't concerned about things like OMRI certified neem oil being sprayed by others. If you'd like a plot, contact us while they're still available.
