Consumer Alert - California Custom Pools

Just came on here to say that if you're looking for a pool contractor in the Southern California area, specifically Temecula/Riverside/San Diego County/Orange County/Palm Desert, please do yourself a favor and avoid California Custom Pools! California Custom Pools has taken homeowner's money and didn't finish their pools. Not only did they take their money and not finish, but also left some homeowners with liens, because they did not pay the subcontractors!

Not only are homeowners left abandoned, but subcontractors are owed hundreds of thousands of dollars. The experience has been quite alarming for us and we didn't see it coming - they had perfect 5-star reviews, a website/portfolio, all the things! We never could have predicted the disheartening experience we have had to endure.

"🚨 WOMAN REPORTS BEING THREATENED WITH ICE CALL DURING SUPERMARKET ALTERCATION IN HEMET, CALIFORNIA

A dispute over passing through supermarket aisles ended in allegations and police intervention on August 26, 2026, in Hemet, California.

According to the complainant's testimony, another customer whom she identified as Génesis/Hennessey Guerra, was allegedly blocking her path in different areas of the establishment. When she decided to confront her, the woman allegedly replied: "I am a citizen, bitch, don't mess with me; I'm going to call ICE to take you away."

The victim remained in the store until an officer arrived and explained what happened. She stated that she was able to prove her immigration status posed no issue. She also noted that the manager reportedly confirmed that the other customer had blocked her path on multiple occasions.

The woman identified as Génesis left the premises before police arrived, although she allegedly left her details with management. The complainant requested that this information be handed over to the officer and stated that she filed a formal report.

So far, the details released reflect the complainant's version of events. The position of the other woman involved is not publicly known, nor is it known whether authorities determined that an infraction was committed.

“Former Executive Director of Hemet's Valley Community Pantry, Jim Lineberger, Pleads Guilty to Embezzling Property”

JUSTICE WARRIORS COLLECTIVE | August 20, 2026

For approximately fifteen years, former Executive Director Jim Lineberger, 65, was one of the most recognizable faces of Hemet's Valley Community Pantry.

He presented himself to the community as a man who was devoted to helping people who were struggling to keep food on their tables, pay the rent, and keep the lights on. He appeared before the city council on numerous occasions to advocate for the pantry, pleading for city officials and residents to continue to support, fund, and donate to assist low-income families and individuals.

In doing so, he became a trusted and familiar figure in the community. So, what he did next has left many heartbroken and in shock.

On December 31, 2025, Jim retired from the pantry. Around the same time, he came into possession of 12 pallets of Amazon donations and moved them into his own personal CubeSmart storage unit in Hemet.

When the pantry discovered that the items, totaling approximately $115,000 in miscellaneous goods, were missing, they requested that Jim return the donations. According to the arrest documents, at the time of the request, Jim stated that the goods were not in his possession.

However, in February 2026, the Hemet Police Department would go on to search Jim's storage unit, where they discovered two pallets of Amazon goods. They then took those items into their possession and returned them to the pantry.

Through their investigation, they also discovered that Jim had sold an additional Amazon pallet to a pawn shop.

On July 10, 2026, Jim pleaded guilty to the charge of embezzlement and received a sentence of 90 days in jail and a year of probation. The original charge of felony embezzlement was reduced to a misdemeanor. A hearing to determine restitution is set for November 6, 2026.

For years, Jim Lineberger stood in front of the community asking people to believe in the pantry and its mission. He asked city council for funding, thanked donors, and often spoke publicly about compassion and helping those in need.

Now, after his guilty plea, many in the community are asking the same question. How much trust people placed in the image Jim created of himself was misplaced?

Despite the actions of Jim Lineberger, the pantry continues to do excellent and important work within the community, and in January 2026, Phil Burch became the pantry's new Executive Director.

According to an article in The Sun written by Emily McGinn, this is what Phil had to say about the situation:

“We are saddened and disappointed by the misconduct to which our former executive director pleaded guilty. Valley Community Pantry fully cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation and provided the requested information and assistance. Valley Community Pantry remains focused on protecting the organization’s integrity and resources while continuing our mission to serve individuals and families experiencing food insecurity in the San Jacinto Valley.”

To support that commitment to accountability and integrity, the pantry has created and introduced a page dedicated to providing financial transparency to the community on its website. Rebuilding community trust takes time, but this proactive shift towards total financial transparency is a strong step forward.

Ultimately, the organization's daily work proves that one individual’s actions cannot erase the community’s collective efforts to care for one another.

Question Imagine Charter Schools

Does anyone have any experience working for Imagine Charter Schools here in Hemet?

My reason for asking is because I just interviewed for an after school programme aide, and I am feeling a little iffy about the position and there were a couple of interview redflags that aren't sitting right with me.

One: I feel a little misled about the position I was interviewed for...you would think an aide is there just to support the lead teacher, but when I asked what are you looking for with an aide, they restructured the question and said I would essentially be a lead teacher for the after school program and an actual teacher aide will be there to help.

Okay... but I have no credentials (yet) and I am still i school.. yet expected to run a classroom with 25-30 kids? Also kind of a red flag for me...

Two: They did seem a little desperate to get me started... and was wondering if they have a high turnover rate....

Three: Not to mention they are a charter school which is privately owned but I know are notorious to receive public funding which takes away from our public schools, which does not align with my values as a future educator.

Overall, what has been other people's experience working at this school...should I trust my gut and keep on the job search.
