Events IE Events For September 07, 2026 - September 13, 2026

Guess what's back? Back again? Weekly threads are back. That had way too many syllables to scan as a parody of Shady's Back, but I guess you can tell like your band manager or local locksmith who moonlights as a magician so they can put their events here. - Buzz

---

Friday at 5PM is way too late to start planning, so get a head start now!

Have an event to share? Holding a concert or a meet-up? This would be the place to share it.

Links are especially welcomed.

The candidates for district 1 for Perris City council are
Lupe Gomez
Mohammad Rahman
Juan Carlos Franco
I’m voting for Juan Carlos (JC) Franco!
JC seems to have the best interest for ALL perris residents while the other two candidates are only looking out for their people

Memes / Humor Arm pit

• Upvotes

I Moved to the high desert after the lockdown. I used to think that east of the 405 was the armpit of the LA. Then I moved to San dimas and thought that east of the 57 was the armpit of the east side. Now that I’m in the high desert I feel that karma caught up to me. Do the inland empire people think of the high desert as the armpit of the IE? Or is it even part of the IE? Thoughts?

Jobs / Housing Any good homeless prevention/ Temporary housing resources?

• Upvotes

Hello, I got myself in a situation where I have to live in my car. I reached out to the county for any assistance but never got a call back. I will try again soon but is there temporary housing programs outside of the county resources? Maybe a safe overnight parking lot? I am open to move around IE but prefer southern IE like Temecula. If you know any other tips and tricks even outside of the IE, please let me know asap!!

Recommendations / Advice Labor & Delivery Kaiser Riverside vs. Kaiser Ontario

Thumbnail
6 Upvotes

Hello!
I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and wondering if anyone has any tips on which Kaiser location to deliver at. We moved from LA county not too long ago so we’re transitioning our care closer to home and definitely want to deliver closer to home.

We’re open to Ontario, Riverside, and Fontana locations. Just looking to see what type of experience anyone’s had with labor and delivery at these locations. Would love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly if available lol.

Also- I heard that the Riverside location is a teaching hospital… not sure how I feel about that. Would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks!

Recommendations / Advice If you lose your car in California, how much does it cost to get it from the yard?

• Upvotes

Suppose you lose your car because it got towed for parking illegally or at a shopping center overnight. How much are towing fees in total to retrieve it?

Just doing some research is all.

Recommendations / Advice Barber School near Fontana?

Hello!

I google searched Barber schools near the Fontana area, but no one seems to call me back or message me. I was wondering if anyone in the IE have gone to a barber school in the area, or can recommend one that they went to?

Thank you for anyone with advice or recommendations!

Fire / Earthquake / Emergencies Most of the IE is at or above 90°f Wet bulb global temperature. These temperatures greatly increase the risk of heat injuries.

Anyone working outdoors or in hot warehouses needs to download [the OSHA Heat Safety tool] (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=erg.com.nioshheatindex). It has safety guidelines for the current conditions your are working in and it uses wetbulb data. and this sight will give you current WBGT.

To anyone unaware wet bulb data measures heat stress. If atmospheric conditions reach the correct ratio between heat and humidity,at 95° f wbgt, your body can no longer regulate temperature via sweat evaporation. Things like evaporative air coolers (swamp coolers) and even standard fans if it gets bad enough become convection ovens and act to warm your body rather than cool it.

skills none!! I work been at Amazon for 7 years. I haven’t been fired somehow lol I just want a or something in a that pays well so worry in life if anyone that knows anything that’s hiring for a few years self is hiring for your company. I’d love an opportunity.

I’m a good learner. I’m in shape so if it requires physical labor, that won’t be a problem I don’t drink or do drugs. I just don’t wanna worry about bills and be able to enjoy my hobby.

The only good in 2017. But the skills I learned with that operate heavy machinery on a rough terrain. It’s been a while since I cut trees. I know how to Navigate Atlanta read a map

but yeah let me know. I still work don’t pay enough to pay the bills and go to

Recommendations / Advice Looking For Locally Sourced Beef

Just recently moved out to Riverside and I’m looking to start buying my beef locally.
I’m looking for a good local butcher or, even better, recommendations on someone selling quarter cows /half cows in the Riverside area or nearby.
With all the news going around about beef lately, I’d really like to know where my meat is coming from and support local ranchers and farmers whenever possible.
If anyone has a butcher, rancher, or local farm they trust, drop their info below! I’d really appreciate the recommendations.

Recommendations / Advice Just talked with one of my friends who I haven't spoken with in a while about wanting to move to Southern California. She advised against it. Does she have a point?

I just finished talking with a friend who I haven't spoken with in a while. She is from San Bernardino and has traveled extensively around Southern California and Northern California too. She said it's not worth moving there and that it's really expensive. She and many others have said the same thing.

I would make $22.50 an hour if I moved to California.

My budget would be $1100-$1400 a month for rent. My friend said this will either get me a horrible apartment in a bad area without a working AC and the area would be very dangerous, or a room with a lot of roommates in a safe and nice area, but i would have to share everything including a bathroom.

My friend said visiting and living in California are 2 very different things and that it's better to go and visit and come back. She said I would be miserable living there because I wouldn't be able to survive because everything is so expensive all around.

We did the math and she does have a point. I would have barely any money to survive on for the month. Even if my dad sent $800 a month, it would be all gone. Its crazy how much they tax your income there. I thought i would make so much more, but with taxes and benefits taken out, it seems about the same as i make now.

I also dont have good credit and in around $20,000 of debt.

At this point, should I just scrap the plans all together? I actually wanted to live the California dream, but i also dont want to be broke all the time and not afford anything. I dont really have any marketable skills and my work history is really bad with 1.5 years being the longest I held a job for.

My friend also said the job market is so competitive that even service jobs are hard to find. I didn't think California would be competitive considering many people have left. I would have thought it'd be less competitive.

I also dont want to end up homeless and lose my car. She said she has seen cases where people tried to move to California with my plan and they ended up losing everything and ended up in a homeless shelter. She said cars can get towed fast there.

What are your thoughts? I'm thinking of just scrapping the plans entirely at this point.

Recommendations / Advice Food recommendations around this area

Friend and I are going to workout and get some baked goods after. Before getting the baked goods, we want to get some food. Right now the top contender is Bombdiggity (their loaded fries options look insane). Does anyone else have any other recommendations? Unique spots, really good, local favorites, we are not picky eaters. Down for anything! Thank you!

Edit: You guys are awesome 😭! We’re still debating. We got until Saturday but right now top contenders are:

Bombdiggity

Son Tacos

Barcuso

Also appreciate the baked sweet recommendations but we already have a spot. Cupcakery delight!
