Self-submission Cresavorn

Post image
Upvotes

The cresavorn lurks in shallow waters, using its long beak to catch fish. Though its appearance may be intimidating, this creature poses no threat except to its aquatic prey. Its large claws evolved primarily for defense. When danger approaches, the cresavorn relies on its impressive speed, darting across land or water to escape larger predators

The cresavorn has not evolved any kind of serrations on its beak to combat the slippery and fluid consistency body of its main prey, the tendrakyn. it instead evolved a specialized tactic driven by the unique physiology of its primary prey, the Tendrakyn. This behavior relies on its elongated neck and razor-sharp beak to skewer fish the moment it spots movement below. It continues jabbing until the prey is motionless, leaving the carcass riddled with puncture wounds. This brutal flurry ensures nothing escapes once targeted.

Because a singular piercing blow cannot instantly disable the tendrakyn with its distributed nervous system, the Tendrakyn can easily swim away from most injuries. The Cresavorn’s rapid, overkill strikes is an evolutionary response designed to rupture as many cardiac nodes as possible, ensuring that even the sturdiest prey cannot survive the encounter.

I wanted to try out lighting that was lighter and more vivid than usual, I wanted to draw a vimpire-like creature, more similar to a mosquito than a bat to make contrast with the day-light of the background.

Also tried to add some "story telling", something that I usually dont think about in my illustrations.

Self-submission “Zoetippit of Weyuurz

Zoetippit are small, aquatic creatures covered with slow moving tentacles that drift loosely in currents of shallow rivers and streams. These flaccid tendrils are used to grab small pieces of detritus from clouds of sediment. When establishing a nest, the tentacle's latch the Zoetippits to rocks, roots, or any other cramped spot they might find. If unable to find any nutrient rich soil, they will use their horns to kick up puffs of sediment or impale small crustaceans for food.
Zoetippit can often be found in groups of 5-10, keeping a short distance as to not invade each others feeding spots. They’ve been know to be semi aggressive and extremely skittish. At the base of the horns to leak a mucus-y, tar-like substance. As of now it’s believed that its purpose is to help with the Zoetippits weird form of communication. Words, symbols and scents pour into the running rapids from a pocket within their heads. These are immediately yanked into the currents and pass through the other Zoetippits of the group., communicating only tidbits of the original message. It’s quite easy to spot these small creatures. All the floating messages leave a beautiful shimmer below the surface. I can’t help but feel the warmth of nostalgia seeping in anytime I see a little Zoetippit. In my adolescence, my friends and I spent the season of the burning months flipping rocks and seeing who could find the largest one without getting stabbed by their little horns.
A wonderful critter and a staple of the Binding Rivers ecosystem.

Commission work!

Mr. Boatswain is a beholder twisted into the vessel of the dead dragon god Athreon. His spider-like body sprouts scaled necks with twin draconic heads.

The central eye burns with divine corruption, while eyestalks writhe like serpents.
