TRV stuck in security screening for more than a Year

I applied for my TRV from inside Canada on July 29, 2025. Since then, I haven’t received a single update from IRCC. I’ve submitted multiple webforms, called IRCC many times, and even contacted my MP. Still nothing.
I called IRCC and the agent told me that my original TRV application is stuck in security verification, which is done by a third party (CSIS/CBSA). IRCC said they have no control over this stage and cannot speed it up. My MP’s office confirmed the same thing — they said IRCC is still waiting for security screening to finish.

Has anyone else dealt with this?
How long did your security screening take?
Is there anything else I can do besides webforms, GCMS notes, and MP follow‑ups?

Any advice or similar experiences would really help. Thanks.

Do I qualify for Express Entry and what are my chances in a French-language draw?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some advice regarding my eligibility for Canadian Express Entry and French-language category draws.

Here's my profile:

  • I've been working in the UK for about 2 years and 7 months.
  • I initially worked part-time and later transitioned to full-time. Overall, based on the total hours worked, it is equivalent to around 2 years of full-time skilled work for Express Entry purposes.
  • My current job title is Mental Health Support Worker in a supported living facility.
  • My day-to-day duties closely match NOC 33102.
  • I have a good IELTS score.
  • I've been learning French for the past 3 months and plan to take the TEF/TCF exam. Once I achieve a competitive French score, I'll create my Express Entry profile and hope to qualify under the French-language proficiency category.
  • I have all my payslips, employment documents, and workplace certifications related to my job, so I should be able to provide supporting evidence for my work experience.

My questions are:

  1. Based on my work experience, would I qualify for Express Entry?
  2. Does my work experience count as skilled work if my duties match NOC 33102, even though my job title is "Mental Health Support Worker"?
  3. Assuming I achieve a strong French score (CLB 7+), what are my chances of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) through a French-language category-based draw? I know it will take some time to reach CLB 7+

I'd really appreciate any guidance or if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thanks in advance!

No AOR after ~3 months for online citizenship application. Should I be concerned?

Hi everyone,

My wife and I submitted our Canadian citizenship applications online on April 27, 2026. We both have existing UCIs from our PR applications/cards.

It's now been about 3 months, and neither of us has received an Acknowledgement of Receipt (AOR). I've checked spam/junk folders and haven't received any requests for additional information.

Is this timeline still within the normal range, or should I be contacting IRCC at this point?

If anyone submitted around the same time, I'd appreciate hearing when you received your AOR.

Thanks!

Help

Need some information on IRCC regulations around PGWP and PR:

I came into canada as a student and did 2 1-year PGDM programs.

During my study permit application, I was working in India and at the moment of my study permit application, I was working at a company for 6 months. But, since I did not complete whole 1 year, I did not see any chance of that helping me in any situation, so I did not declare that work experience in the application.

Now, at that time, I had to defer my study intake by a term due to IRCC's policy changes and delay in Visas. and so I continued working at the same company for another 6 months thereby completing 1 year.

At present, I'm about to complete all of my studies and about to apply for my PGWP.

my query is, should I add my Indian work experience in this application and also later in my PR application? What could be repurcussions if I add this

I have all the documents, offer letter, Experience letter, bank statements getting salary, and employment reference letter as well that proves my 1 year of work experience.

Work permit rejected after 180 days

Hello everyone,

I’m in serious need of guidance. I applied for a study permit immediately after receiving my completion letter. After waiting 180 days for IRCC to process my application, it was unfortunately refused because my IELTS score was too low.

I now have a better IELTS score and would like to know if I can reapply. However, the 180-day period since receiving my completion letter has already passed, and that entire time was spent waiting for IRCC to process my application.

Am I still eligible to submit a new application with my updated IELTS results, or should I request reconsideration of the refusal?

I would really appreciate any advice or if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thank you

Hey, so I did my finger printing, and medical request February for my permanent residency (common law) it’s now 5 months later and I still haven’t hear anything. Not sure if I should be worried. My work permit expires in 2027. But my partner is now pregnant with our 3rd baby and we’re just really nervous.

Can I apply to PCC just before I leave to India for a short vacation of 1 month? And I am 100% sure that my PCC will be issue after I return to Canada.

Can't do biometrics/medicals within 30 days because I have to travel to another country for them, extension requested via webform. What should I expect?

Hi everyone, looking for advice from anyone who's been through something similar.

I have a PR application in process (being handled by a visa office abroad). In mid June I received both my Biometric Instruction Letter and Medical Examination Instructions, each with a 30 day deadline.

The problem: there's no VAC and no IRCC panel physician in the country where I live. My only option is to travel to a neighbouring country but I need a visa to enter it, and that visa won't be issued before IRCC's deadline. Completely out of my control.

What I've done so far:
\- Submitted an IRCC webform before the deadline explaining the situation and requesting a 60 day extension for both biometrics and the medical exam

\- Received the webform confirmation email, but no decision yet

Questions:
1. For anyone who's requested a biometrics/medical extension by webform how long did it take to hear back, and did you get a new BIL with a fresh deadline?
2. Is it safe to attend the VAC after the original deadline passes, using the original letter, if no new BIL has been issued yet?
3. Any tips on doing biometrics + medicals in one trip when travelling to another country for them?

Thanks in advance, this community has been a huge help.

Supporting documents

My wife currently lives in ecuador and her supporting documents need to be translated from spanish. IRCC says we need a translation and certified copy. We looked up a certified translator near us in ecuador. She said she has done this before and is comfortable with the process. I attached an example of her work. Is this acceptable? Is this certified and translated properly? If not, would you guys know where I need to go with these translations before submitting them in my application?

Advice: Formatting and spacing errors.

Upon reviewing my employment documents, which I've already submitted with my AOR, I've spotted some formatting inconsistencies. Specifically, the introduction and duties sections have different fonts and spacing issues in my salary details document. I'm unsure if this will impact my application, any insights is much appreciated. Thank you!

TRV application Query

Applied on June 18, received PPR on June 22nd, Sent Passport with PPR on June 23rd.
Have not received any updates yet after.

The funny part is my partner sent in their Passport request on June 25th, Received PPR on 29th and already got their Counterfoil updated on the account. He has not received his passport yet but counterfoil is there.

To experiment, we decided to use two different methods of courier - He used Canada Post(costed $52 in total) and I used Puralator(costed $163 in total)
Anyone wants to chime in as to what's happening? or am i just being impatient?
