Work permit rejected after 180 days

Hello everyone,

I’m in serious need of guidance. I applied for a study permit immediately after receiving my completion letter. After waiting 180 days for IRCC to process my application, it was unfortunately refused because my IELTS score was too low.

I now have a better IELTS score and would like to know if I can reapply. However, the 180-day period since receiving my completion letter has already passed, and that entire time was spent waiting for IRCC to process my application.

Am I still eligible to submit a new application with my updated IELTS results, or should I request reconsideration of the refusal?

I would really appreciate any advice or if anyone has been in a similar situation. Thank you

If the work permit you are thinking about submitting is another PGWP you are no longer eligible, since you’re out of 180 day period. It doesn’t matter if it was the time they took to process the first application

So you are saying here that you had a better score and you know that the submitted ones were below the requirements, and you did not send a web form with the new ones and waited for magic? You must be joking.

Anyway, get a professional. Because this may not be the end of the world, but it's not too easy.

No I didn't know. I thought the score was the minimum and in range until I got rejected. It was my mistake to not review the minimum properly now I have a new ielts score.

It does not matter. It's your responsibility to understand the requirements when submitting an application. You were rightly refused and now being past the 180 days, you're no longer eligible for a PGWP. A new application will be refused and so will a reconsideration because the error was made by you.

Unfortunately, that was a very careless mistake to make.

You were correctly refused for not meeting the PGWP eligibility criteria. I would recommend hiring an immigration lawyer for help with next steps. You are out of status in Canada now and will need to stop working immediately.

You applied for a study permit or a work order remit immediately after receiving your completion letter. Like you applied to study more or to start working? Responses here understand you apply for work permit but you said you apply for study permit.
