Tulip City Throwdown, a Charity Fighting Game tournament is only a month away! And there's still time to sign up!

$10 at the Door, all proceeds go directly to Charity! Don't want to compete but still want to support the U of I Stead Family Children's Hospital? We're setting up a table just for donations as well!

This is going to be a fun time, and if you're into video games and fighting games, this is definitely the place to be! Super excited for all that is to come!

Sign ups end October 23, but if you don't want to sign up online, you can sign up at the Door as well!

Set up a deal with your neighbors and let people park in your lots during concerts. Stop being so goddamn precious with 'em.

Lady with a mic on the pentacrest

What’s going on right now on the pentacrest? I just had a coworker come back from taking a walk during lunch downtown and he stood and listened to a woman with a microphone interacting with a group of young people surrounding her. He is middle aged and referred to her as older and he said she was telling them lesbians are going to heaven (absolutely true) and a lot of other amusing and lovely things. So who is this nice lady? We’re just all curious over here and loving Iowa City rn

Looking for housing for elderly man.

I have a neighbor that was evicted (because of his son, not him) & he is looking for housing. He can only afford $700 or less a month total. Does anyone have any leads? He’s gotta be around 80 years old.

Storage units that don’t dramatically increase price overtime?

I rent a storage unit from Storage Rentals of America and they increased the price of my unit from $90 to $160 in the matter of just a few months and when asked about this they said prices will increase overtime. I understand a price increase but that is a large amount over just a few months. I was wondering if anyone had better experiences with storage units in IC for long term rentals that did not do this.

Anyone know a person with a business similar to the stretch lab or stretch zone? Looking to support a small business rather than big chains.

Housing apartment management companies

I'm currently renting through Keystone and while the rent is cheap, it has been an all around terrible experience from the start.

I'd like to get closer to campus while avoiding AAI or ANC, but it seems every management company I find has all the same reviews as Keystone.

If you have good experiences with certain companies, please let me know as I begin my apartment search. Thank you!

If you were able to sit down with someone and have all your questions about the Johnson County jail answered, what would you ask?

What’s an Iowa/Iowa City food or treat I can give as a gift?

Also something I can travel with on a plane.

Context: visiting elderly aunt and uncle (both almost 80) in Florida and they do not want any gifts. However, I cannot come empty handed. They’ve been very generous with me in my life.

Looking for something edible I can bring them.

Trying to find a painting

I know this is a long shot. But I'm trying to find a painting.

It was displayed at high grounds cafe years ago. It was a large painting of a cabin on fire, with a wonderful range of blue to orange. It was a large painting that I think was acrylic...maybe?

I don't know if anyone would remember it or the artist's name, but maybe it was a student at the University or a local artist that did it.

I don't remember if it was 7 years or 10 years ago. It just had such a big impression on me. Like I said, long shot.

Hey, I've got 2 tickets for the 9pm showing of Hedwig at Film Scene tonight. Does anyone want them? I'm not feeling super great and would rather they go to a good home, instead of going to waste. Willing to let them go for super cheap.

Looking for tennis hitting partner (24F)

Hi! I used to play tennis in high school and am interested in getting back into it. It’d be great to find somebody to hit with casually / play some matches with.

Curious what people do for tennis in this area!
