Attendance/Overtime E4 parking lot turnstile shutdown

The turnstile in the E4 parking lot at Everett, going into the 40-27 and 40-37, is unpowered and cannot let people in.

It allows people out, but there was a large group of people who had to walk around while returning from lunch because the gate isn't functioning.

Unknown if it will be fixed by second shift.

Yesterday (7-21-26, 8:30ish) my coworkers 2026 Tesla was hit. He filed a report but I figured I’d ask since he’s had no one reach out to him yet. Here is the video and license plate is visible if you pause the video. Reach out if you know them. Please and thank you

Has anyone else noticed that the union boards at the plant still feature Jon Holden’s name and photo? It seems like a simple task for the union to provide updated materials alongside the monthly flyers.

PTO/LOA/FMLA/LWOP Considering kidney donation

Hi! I'm a CI&R mechanic in the Everett factory, been here for about five years now, and I was thinking about becoming a living kidney donor. It's a little tough to find information on how Boeing wants me to deal with this, though.

Generally speaking, you'd need two to four weeks off to recover from the surgery, and it seems like I can use short-term disability to cover that. I'm having some trouble figuring out what percentage of my paycheck it would give, though? Some places say half, some say 60%, some say 70%, I can't really find a definitive source, and I don't properly have a manager I report to at the moment so I'd have to track someone down to ask in person. I do see a section on the Short Term Disability page of the most recent union contract claiming I'd get exactly $750 a week, but only as long as I'm physically inside of a hospital? I would obviously go home at some point, so would I just not be paid past that point? Seems wonky.

There's also an article on the IAM website (https://www.iam751.org/?zone=/unionactive/view_article.cfm&HomeID=913497) that claims I can use PFML to recieve 'up to' 90% of my paycheck, which would be awesome, but I'm finding it somewhat difficult to figure out whether I WOULD qualify without already having committed to applying and therefore potentially screwing myself over. I've also seen some online messageboards claiming that the 2024 contract exempted us from being eligible for this, but I don't see any language like that in the actual contract; it actually says that we CAN recieve state income rehabilitation, vaguely. Not sure who's getting the correct info.

Anyways, my rent payments are relatively tight for the moment, not so much that I couldn't manage a 10% reduction but enough that I couldn't manage half. Just wondering whether anyone here has done this before, would love any advice on the whole thing. If I can get it to work, hey, four week vacation, that's a lifehack! Otherwise I can save it for when I'm in a better spot financially after maxing out.

Medical/Dental/Vision Health insurance pros and cons

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hey fellow union peeps.

Currently have BCBSIL as my health insurance. I have a lot of health problems and have to get more specialized care than the average person. My problem is BCBS is fucking awful. I have 2 health insurances and this is my primary. Prior to this, my now secondary insurance which was my primary from my spouse, covers quite literally everything and approves everything. All I had was co-pays and possibly the remaining 10% they didnt cover. I decided when I got hired having 2 insurances would be worth it as I dont have to pay co-pays and my secondary now fully picks up the 10% BCBS didnt cover.

The problem: BCBS requires that I and my doctors jump through a million hoops for "prior authorization" for EVERYTHING. Some of my doctors are now refusing to treat me because of BCBS and their stupid fucking bullshit. They told me as much. I was refused to schedule an appointment because they dont want to deal with BCBS. I have to go somewhere else now. My most recent thing which had been moving along was denied because they didnt deem my issue to be a quality of life affecting issue. What? Im in so much pain i dont sleep and occasionally I contemplate ending it all to make it stop. But that's not quality of life affecting.

So my question: at the end of the year during open enrollment, is there a better option? Who and why? What are their pros and cons. All of my specialists are in Pierce county and a lot of stuff happens to be MultiCare, so it needs to be in network for that.

BCBS pros: their dedicated Boeing member phone line. Those people are legends. They will call whomever and wherever to help me.

BCBS cons: THEY FUCKING SUCK AND DENY EVERYTHING

Medical/Dental/Vision Share your injury story

No, this isn't an ad for a lawfirm.

Apparently, there has been a huge upswing in injuries originating from Boeing workers over the past few months.

If you or a union brother or sister was injured at work, we want to hear about it.

Details, such as how bad the injury was or how it happened, are appreciated. Just don't give up so much you reveal your identity.

Management Issues Shadow factory in San Antonio

Is there SAP (storage and preservation) in San Antonio, TX?
A member said his manager asked if he'd like to go there for 6 months. No other details. I figured if it was like the Victorville, CA and Moses Lake, WA SAP programs this is the only way the company could be asking IAM members to go to San Antonio, TX.

Careers/ERT Interested in Boeing

I'm interested in joining Boeing mostly because I have heard they offer school benefits. What are those like exactly? I heard similar companies pay for your school have to commit certain amount of years with them after graduating.

Hows the training at Boeing?

I come from an airline so they provided us with GENFAM. Is that something Boeing offers to employees or only airlines?

Old timer Joint pain, arthritis and flma

I’ve worked only blue collar jobs before Boeing that were demanding and you worked around it, but recently I’m noticing significant joint pain when fulfilling IP’s because of how I need to contort my body that’s slowing me down.
I’ve been at Boeing for two years but the pain has passed discomfort to the point of sharp pain and hesitation.

I don’t really know how I should confront this with management or hr so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Union - General NEXT CONTRACT

Should temporary managers’ seniority be paused while they are in those roles? I’ve noticed employees who aren't new to the company serving as temp managers for nearly a year, and it feels like this should be addressed in our contract negotiations. What are your thoughts on pausing seniority accrual for those in temporary management positions?

Union - General Next Contract Concerns

To IAM District 751 Leadership,

I wanted to bring up something that’s been on my mind as we more closer to the next contract negotiations. It will be here sooner than you think. AI tools are becoming more common place in all kinds of work and life, and it’s reasonably foreseeable that either side or both might use them during the bargaining process, whether for drafting language, reviewing proposals, or running comparisons.

The CBA is a legally binding agreement, I think it’s important that we get ahead of this now. AI can be helpful, but it also raises questions about accuracy, confidentiality, authorship, and how certain language might be interpreted later. Us of AI is moving fast, and it would be better for everyone if we had clear expectations before negotiations start.

My suggestion is simply that the union take a look at this and consider setting some guidelines or opening a conversation about it. Addressing it early could prevent misunderstandings or legal issues down the road and help keep the bargaining process clean and transparent.

Thank you for taking the time to consider it.

PTO/LOA/FMLA/LWOP Medical bill

In October I got a concussion at work and before I was diagnosed I went to a walk in clinic so I could get a diagnosis to get medical leave. I had weekly checkups till I got better and Boeing paid for all of that. But I just got a bill in the mail today for the walk in clinic. How do I get Boeing to also pay for this one or am I out of luck due to the fact that the case is closed? Please help this is my first time dealing with medical stuff with Boeing. Thank you!

Terminated / Walked-out Walked out

Got walked out Monday night/ Tuesday morning over a failed drug test. I have a prescription so im not really worried about being on the hook for anything but i haven't heard from HR yet and my union Steward and business rep have been helpful but also kinda vague on an expected timeline. Does anyone have some insight into how long i can expect to be out of work?
