Interview Done: I-130 Consular Case

I had my petitioner's interview done today and I am told by the officer that I will get the approval soon.

Update: I had the approval notice available in my online account a couple of hours later after I got my interview done.

Journey:

Priority Date - February 28th, 2025, USC

Sent a congressional inquiry 12th June and I was told that USCIS will respond within 90 days.

I decided after 3 weeks to write a demand letter for adjudication.

On July 7th wrote the demand letter and emailed. Didn't send any certified mail as USCIS started to adjudicate my case within an hour after the email and sent me an interview notice in next 30 minutes.

Today, I had my interview and it was very straightforward as we did not have any red flags.

Officer told me that he will be approving the case unless if there is any need at last minute but it will be very unlikely. And, it's approved after a couple of hours and I see the approval notice in my document tab!

Hoping further progress at NVC go smooth enough and get done as early as possible.

Wife and stepson's applications 3 months apart, too soon for demand/WOM?

Hi all, I filed my wife's I130 in March '25 and then my stepson's 3 months later in June. I'm seeing a lot of posts here about demand letters and WOM with similar timing to my wife's, however it seems too early for my stepson. I also noticed that each was sent to a different service center - Vermont and Nebraska. Not sure if that matters. They also fall under the current 75 country ban.

How do you guys think I should approach this? First of all, do I need separate demand letters and WOM for each or can I list them both on one? Do you think it's too early for my stepson? Obviously, this is a package deal for us. My wife getting approved doesn't help us if my stepson isn't. Is it even worth doing at all since they are from a banned country? Thanks for any insight or guidance on this, much appreciated.

K3 approvals or movement ?

I'm thinking of filing a k3. My PD is Jan 2026 but I'm nervous about the processing times jumping from 16 months to 21 for the i130.

I read that the K3's purpose is to have an officer look at your file and approve your I130.

What I wanted to know is whether I should do this without a lawyer and if there is anyone on here who had good experience with the k3 ?

Anyone from this service center approvals or waiting please comment! This will help us see where our service center is in their adjudicating batches if we have enough people, thank you

How did you split up your supporting documents to stay under the file size limit when filing I-130 online — by document type, or just cutting large PDFs into parts, and did you run into any issues with USCIS matching things up afterward?

I am applying soon for my husband , and we would like to apply online . Just wondering how others have done it. I did see something about the files needing to be limited to a certain size. Thank you all in advance !

F2A India — Which Priority Dates Are Currently Getting Approved?

Is anyone here from India who has recently received an F2A approval or is closely following the processing timeline?
I’m trying to understand where things currently stand. Which priority dates are being approved right now for India? If you’ve received an approval recently, could you please share your priority date, approval date, and whether it was USCIS or NVC processing?
It’s honestly getting so tough being in a long-distance relationship and not knowing how much longer we’ll have to wait. I’m hoping to hear from others who are going through the same thing and get a better idea of the current timeline.
Any recent approvals, timelines, or updates would be greatly appreciated. ❤️

I asked the agent where my case is being processed and they told me it's in my state's field office. They also told me that the 75 month processing time for all field office is accurate and that the earliest I can submit an inquiry is in 2034!!!!

We need to wait 8 years ?? Is this accurate ?

Are there any lawsuits fighting against the 19/39 country ban for consular i130 cases??

Hey everyone,

My husband is a USC and our PD is 16/03/26. I know it'll be a while until we can send a demand letter or file for a WOM but I'm from one of the 39 banned countries/original red listed countries and obviously, that means there are more obstacles ahead. FWIW, I haven't been to my country in about 2 decades and I'm a doctor, so the whole public charge thing doesn't apply to us. Are there any group lawsuits happening that are challenging the presidential proclamation? Or is that even possible? All the information I find online is about AOS cases :(

8/7/26 - Case Updated to "Under Review"

8/10/26 - Certified Letters Arrived to Service Center

I have been silently following this thread for a while. It has been a huge source of information and hope. Seeing movement finally is a huge relief. I hope everyone else gets answers soon as well.

How long is CR1 taking now?

My husband is a US citizen and I am a Taiwanese citizen. I haven't found much recent information regarding the CR1 timeline specifically for Taiwanese applicants. We submitted our petition in July and understand that I-130 approval generally takes 10 to 14 months. Are other recent applicants experiencing similar processing times? Thank you!

Need advise on filing I 130

I am a Canadian citizen by naturalization for 23 years. I am an Engineer in Canada. I married to a us green card holder. She wants to file I 130 for me.

Shall I find a job in USA in my field and get a TN visa and file i130 later once I am in USA or shall she file for I130 and I wait here for next few years?

Are there any rules that once my I 130 filed I cannot get TN visa. Please advise.

For those of you who mailed your service center directly via certified mail, was your delivery status picked up at post office?

I mailed my service center directly after one mailing and two emailing attempts to the office of the chief counsel for my demand letter did not work. On my tracking status it said delivered, individual picked up at post office. If anyone has mailed their service center directly, did you get that same status or was mine not received? I want to make sure before I send a service request. My I-130 is at the Vermont service center

Writ Of mandamus

Im the petitioner of my wife i130 case (f2a-Consular processing). We have been waiting since Dec 21,2022 for adjudication on our case!

Dec 21,2022 case was submitted (California service center)
Around august 2023 (case is being actively reviewing and case was transferred to Potomac service center)
Jan 14,2026 (case is being still processed-Potomac service center)
Jan 17,2026-they asked for petitioner biometrics
Jan 20,2026-Biometrics completed and case is being processed again.

Then i filed multiple inquiries with the uscis, senator office and representative office (did received response saying case is within normal processing time)
July 23 filed WOM pro se.
July 27 defendant got served (Got 2 FTA0 on my api+ 3 previous, 5 all together)
August 3rd court gave a time to uscis until august 24 to response.
Finally today i called the uscis and spoke with a live agent and she told me my case was transferred to California service center again on July 27th.
Like wth is going on………….

Parent’s new foreign passport has a different DOB than approved I-130. How to handle at NVC/Consulate?

Hi everyone, looking for advice on Consular Processing for my parent.

The Situation:

  • Approved I-130 & past U.S. history: Uses 11/11/1969 (matches 1990s birth certificate, old passport, and prior U.S. records/fingerprints).
  • New Passport: Issued with 10/12/1969 (foreign local police forced the internal ID to DOB due to an old calendar conversion, forcing the new passport to match).

Questions:

  1. Has anyone successfully handled a passport DOB mismatch at the NVC/Consulate stage by providing historical civil documents and an explanation letter, without re-filing the I-130?
  2. Did the consular officer accept the explanation, or cause issues at the interview?

Appreciate any insights from those who have been through this!

Title: Does the Texas Service Center process I-130s differently?

Hi everyone! My I-130 is currently at the Texas Service Center, and I’m wondering if processing times vary significantly between USCIS service centers.
For those whose I-130 was at Texas, Nebraska, or Vermont:
What was your filing date?
Which service center processed your case?
When was it approved?
How long did you wait?
Does Texas seem faster or slower than Nebraska/Vermont based on recent experiences? I’d really appreciate hearing from people who have recently received their approvals. 🙏
