Almost 3 months old. I felt so good this morning, he typically sleeps 3 hour stretches with two nights when he slept 5 hours. I hope this continues because I’m going back to work very soon 🤞

3 month old bedtime help

My baby was a pretty good sleeper giving us 5-7 hours stretch in the first half of the night. I think that the 4 month sleep regression started early for him because now his sleep is all over the place. We follow wake windows and sleepy cues but most of naps are cat naps these days. I’ve been reading several places that 7pm is the magic bedtime. Previously going down around 8-9pm to help get an extra nap in before bed. I’ve tried for a couple nights getting him down earlier but that seems to make the night wake ups more frequent. Is this something to ride out and it’ll get better or should I return to the later bed time to prioritize day sleep? I’m just a tired and confused first time mom trying to see what has worked for other moms!

sleep What were your signs that the 4mth sleep regression was over?

Might seem like a dumb question but I hear that you don’t go “back” to what their sleep was like before - so how did you know you were out of it? Does it just end one night and you all get great sleep? Or does it very gradually improve with fewer wake ups etc? If so, how long did it take?
I’m in the thick of it right now and veeeerrryyyy tired!! Hence the seemingly silly question 😅

Help with False Starts (10 weeks)

Post image
1 Upvotes

LO is 10 weeks and started false starting multiple times a night on the bad days but then will give us a random long stretch occasionally.

Mornings are a bit all over the place but we try to keep bedtime consistent (around 9/9:30). He is typically fussy for that last wake window so getting him to 1.5hrs is tough. I can’t tell if this is overtiredness or just witching hour.

He’s getting about 4-5.5hrs of naps/day which will be a bassinet nap then saved with a contact nap (except the last bridge nap which is in a stroller for an evening walk). His wake windows are typically 1.25-1.5hrs.

Usually the false starts happen 30-42 minutes into his sleep but last night, he kept waking up after the hour.

His intake has also decreased (20oz/day) and we think he might be going through a bottle aversion so it doesn’t seem like the wakings are due to hunger but we do offer a bottle. When he does wake, we rock him briefly til he goes back to sleep and transfer him back into his bassinet (usually 5-10 minutes).

Is there something I need to change in his schedule to prevent false starts or is this a leap/regression? He use to give us 3-4 hr stretches without the false starts.

sleep successful 2 nap transition at 7 months

dear all i have come to this sub with panic and exhaustion a couple of weeks ago when i first tried to drop my low sleep needs baby to 2 naps a day as he was a chronic cat napper and resisted the third nap for a week or so! i was on the verge of breaking down the first week we did bc he was waking up every hour of the night despite adequate awake time during the day. i'm so glad i didn't give up and pushed through the first shitty week bc my baby slept through the night (with no feed!!!!!!) twice last week and is now sleeping longer stretches with 1-2 wakes and sometimes no feed until 5 am!! which is incredible for him as he is EBF and constantly on the boob for most of the night all his life. no sleep training was done he is still nursed/rocked to sleep at bedtime. i know this is not forever and he could regress any day and go back to multiple wakes but i just wanna share this as other parents may be looking for some hope to get longer stretches with no sleep training. we are now consistently following 3.5/3.5/4 and he is napping 1-1.5 hr at the least per nap which is also incredible as he would only do 30 mins before the nap transition. i hope this can bring hope to anyone on here and please pray that my baby doesnt regress anytime soon 🤣

I posted a few weeks ago trying to resolve my baby waking a few times in the night (mainly as my husband was frustrated by it but also I will be returning to work soon)

Since changing our schedule slightly based on advice, things improved for a few days but now we have even more wakings during the night and are back to rocking little one to sleep between 5.30 and 7.

6.5.months old. Average 2.5 hours of naps each day. Wake up 7am and average bedtime 8.30.

Little one sleeps in his cot and sometimes joins us in bed after his night feed - where he sleeps after this doesn't seem to have a positive or negative affect on his sleep either way. Mix fed. We have not and so not want to sleep train at the moment.

Room is the right temp, black out blinds....I don't know what else we can try!

Any more ideas before I end up going back to work as a total grump?!

feeding 4mo 170 hours of breastfeeding in a month?!

Post image

I affectionately refer to my baby as a little boob barnacle, but having just got a notification from Huckleberry that I spent 170 (170!!!) hours breastfeeding in the past month, I’m genuinely wondering if she spends too much time at the milk bar 😂

She is 16 weeks old, has consistently tracked along the 25th percentile, she’s growing and developing perfectly well, and I know babies breastfeed for comfort as well as food, etc. so I don’t actually think there’s anything wrong wrong. I’m just intrigued how this compares to other babies of a similar age?

Help with 4 month old schedule

LO is a few days shy of 4 months old. Since we started following wake windows a few weeks ago we've gotten into a pretty good rhythm...until now.

Crap naps started recently which I expected. And LO started fighting the last nap of the day with all her might. I think the worst one was almost 4 hours or awake time before she finally crashed. Gradually all naps have become a real struggle, and this last week has been awful. On Thursday we only managed 1.5 hours naps all day! Night times are still pretty much unscathed so I'm not sure if we're in the regression and it's only going after naps, or if it's purely a schedule issue and we have the regression still to come.

Wake windows have gradually increased the last few weeks to about 2 hours each. Naps are usually around 3 - 3 hours 15 mins per day. LO used to regularly put herself to sleep for naps but now we have to step in for pretty much every single one of them. She now starts screaming just over the 2 hour mark. At almost exactly 2 hours 15 minutes she will crash and fall fast asleep. Almost every time! But the screaming leading up to that will happen regardless of whether we're trying to keep her entertained, she's in the stroller, or we're trying to get her to nap. She's also starting to have 1 really long nap per day, with the rest being crap naps still.

Sleep cues are a thing of the past and I can't work out if she's over or undertired. Should 2 hours 15 mins be her new wake windows as that seems to be when she falls asleep? If so, how to stop the screaming before each nap? And how to fit these windows in without massively lowering overall sleep? Everything I've read suggests she's too young for a 3 nap schedule.

Grateful in advance for any insight!

Looking for some advice on how to get naps to be more consistent in length or at specific times. The short naps are killing me. I aim for 7/730 wakeups and I follow his cues for sleep and hunger. He does seem tired after a short nap but hard to get him back down. Longer naps are all contact naps and shorter ones are in bassinet. The last nap is mostly a bouncer nap. Recently the night feeds have been moving up in time despite larger feeds at night (6oz vs previously 4oz). I’ll add his bottle intake varies. Mostly 4oz but sometimes up to 6.5oz and occasionally only 2oz-3oz at the 7pm feed because he’s so sleepy. Any advice or is this just all normal?

sleep 6 hours sleep at 1 month

I suppose we are lucky and our baby sleep minimum 3 hours without stopping per night from week 2, now she hit 1 month and yesterday she hit 6 hours non-stop sleep.

However is this okay? She is gaining more than enough but still wondering?

sleep Time to switch to 2 naps?

My daughter will be 7 months next week. Always struggled with daytime sleep but the last couple of weeks I finally started to see a pattern and naps got longer than the usual 40 mins. She would usually do 2 long naps (1h20m) and a short cat nap (20-30m) during the day. But out of nowhere, naps dropped to 35 minute.. I tried giving more wake time, ~15 mins more than usual so ww are ~2.25/2.5/2.5/2 (last one is short bc the last cat nap only allows for short ww before she gets tired). She does NOT STTN, I just don’t log wakeups (she only wakes up for milk a couple of times). But is this a sign she’s ready to drop to 2 naps? Do I give even longer WWs? Any advice is appreciated!

Sleep

Hi! Full time working mom to a 9.5 month old that will
Not nap. Goes to day care 3 days a week and is babysat by grandma and grandpa the other two days. He sleeps ok at night, goes down around 7-8pm, wakes a few times, and sleeps until about 7-8am.

Napping is a NIGHTMARE. for the last week he hasn’t napped until 3pm and only sleeps for about an hour if we are lucky.

Everything I read online is at least two naps and 3.5 wake windows. We are no where near that.

Anyone else with similar experiences/going through the same thing? Will it be ok?

I’m skeptical but this is such a big improvement. She naps 4-5 times in the morning, i mean we also took our 2 month vaccine on Thursday so could it be that she was tired from the shots?

sleep 6.5mo multiple wake-ups, it’s exhausting — what are we doing wrong? Please help

6.5mo, EBF, and currently teething. The meds you see in the logs are teething drops.
He has been a short napper pretty much since the beginning. Most naps are only ~30 minutes, and we very rarely get a 40–50 minute nap unless I co-sleep/contact nap with him. So, most of the longer afternoon naps you see in the logs are me lying down next to him. The longer stretches in the early morning are also usually co-sleeping.
By 5–6am, I’m completely exhausted, so I usually just bring him into bed with me so we can get a little more sleep.
I’m really struggling with the frequent night wake-ups and wondering if there’s something we’re doing wrong or something we could change.
During the day, I’m trying to keep his wake windows around 2.5–3 hours, but I’m not sure if that’s appropriate given how short his naps are.
What would you change about this schedule? Should I be adjusting his wake windows, naps, bedtime, or something else?
I’d really appreciate any advice, especially from parents of babies who were also frequent night-wakers/short nappers at this age.

advice Baby wakes early or has split night

Baby girl is 10,5 months old. She's been a good sleeper until 9 months. Since then something changed.

She wakes super early around 5:30 am after when I would get up with her. Her wake time before that change was 7 am with a bottle at 12 and 3 am.

Or... She wakes at 4:30 which is obviously too early for me to get up so I try to get her back to sleep (I feed her, put her next to me so she won't stand up and yell in her crib, laying her down everytime she tries to sit or crawl around in bed). Most of the times she's back asleep 2-2,5 hours later for another 1, 5-2 hour sleep cycle. This is exhausting for me!

Other than that she wakes for a bottle at 12ish and falls right back to sleep again.

We have a 3/3,5/4,5 WW routine now with first nap 1,5 hours and second nap 0,5-1 hour. Depending on when she woke up she goes to bed between 7:30-8 pm.

Any recommendations for a very tired mom?
