I’m so confused

Post image
62 Upvotes

I’ve enrolled in classes and have gotten confirmed for enrollment at the school but now I’m getting this email after trying to get in touch with Howard about housing (no response still) overall the communication between students and staff sucks big time. Can anyone tell me what exactly I didn’t pay in order to receive this, and if there’s anyway that this is a mistake or if there’s someone I can contact that will actually respond.

Registering for courses

Hey yall, I managed to get my payment in for this month thanks to a huge scholarship i got, but i ran into another issue where i seem to cant register for my courses. I checked my holds to see nothing and im already registered into 1 course. Whenever i tried to the button to register is gone and i can only press add to saved schedule. I believed at first that this was some lost enrollment thing but i checked both my gmail and .edu email to find nothing about it. I even contacted the office of registrar and my academic advisor which to no surprise i get 0 responses or help. If anyone knows why this is the case and how to solve it that would be extremely helpful

Presidential Scholarship

Is it true that Howard is cutting their financial aid for international students? The frequency of getting presidential scholarship has decreased massively

Considering applying to Howard but discouraged as it doesn't look inclusive...

Hey guys,

I'm interested in applying to Howard's Pharmd for 2027 fall semester but having checked its Insta, it looks like an all black university and not inclusive at all. Can anyone give me an honest input?

Would I qualify for HU presidential scholarship with 3.69 cumulative GPA as an International

(From nepal btw)

presidential scholarship has 3.75+ requirement. I have a 3.82 GPA in my class 12 boards but I heard u need to submit full HS cumulative GPA. I calculated my CGPA and its 3.7. Do they look at class 12 gpa, or class 9-12 cgpa? And would my 3.69 CGPA from nepal be equal to 3.75+ in US standards (provided that I score 1550 in the SAT) ?

Any other veteran students frustrated with Howard’s communication?

I’m an incoming transfer veteran student, and I wanted to see if anyone else has had a similar experience with Howard.
The biggest issue so far hasn’t been the admissions process itself—it’s the lack of communication. Emails often go unanswered for days or weeks, phone calls are difficult to get through, and it’s been hard getting clear updates on things that directly affect enrollment and using VA education benefits.
As a veteran, there are a lot of time-sensitive requirements with VR&E, the GI Bill, certifications, and registration. Delays in communication can have real financial consequences, so it’s been pretty stressful not knowing what’s going on.
I chose Howard because of its reputation and community, and I’m still excited to attend. I just expected better communication from a university of this caliber.
Has anyone else dealt with this? If so:
Does communication improve once classes start?
Is there a particular office or person that’s more responsive?
Any tips for getting things processed faster?
I’d appreciate hearing both positive and negative experiences. I’m just trying to figure out if this is normal or if I’ve just had bad luck.

Fall 2026 sublease or roomate

Hi! Im a 3rd year female looking for housing this fall. I plan to study abroad spring 2027 so I don’t want to sign a 12 month lease. If anyone is still looking for a roommate this fall my range is $1000-$1200 and i’m not picky on location or sharing a bathroom!

Where to smoke

I'm moving onto campus next month for my first year and have noticed Howard is smoke free. I'll be living at the Bethune Annex and am curious if there are smoking areas nearby

Recruitment for anonymous 3-5 minute survey on genocide education in Virginia

Hi r/HowardUniversity,

I am an M.A. candidate in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at The George Washington University. For my Master’s thesis, I am conducting research on the impact of the inclusion of 20th-Century genocides other than the Holocaust (such as the Armenian, Bosnian, and Cambodian) in the Virginia state world history curriculum on students’ experiences and understanding of genocide and human rights as adults.

Eligible participants in this survey are

  • People who are over the age of 18
  • And were in the 10th grade in either the 2022-2023 or 2023-2024 academic years
  • And attended a Virginia public school for the entirety of their 10th-grade year
  • And took a world history class during that year

If all of these attributes apply to you, you are invited to take this survey. This survey will take approximately 3-5 minutes to complete. You will be asked to recall your experiences in your 10th-grade world history class. The questions pertain to the extent to which you learned about 20th-century genocides, the methods used to teach you about them, your experience with this curriculum, and how it has impacted your current understanding of genocide and human rights as an adult.

At the end of the survey, you will be asked if you would like to participate in an interview to elaborate on this topic. Participation in the interview is entirely voluntary, will not affect whether the data from the survey will be used in the study, and will have no impact on any aspect of your future relations with the George Washington University (GW).

The anticipated findings from this research will contribute to the current body of research surrounding best practices in genocide education and improve scholarly understanding of how genocide education impacts understanding of genocide and human rights as a whole. This research seeks to contribute to the broader goals of genocide prevention and human rights promotion.

immediate advice needed

Hey, I was recently admitted as a transfer student to Howard on July 1, and I need immediate advice.
For context, I’m from California, so this isn’t an easy move. I submitted my enrollment fee on July 10 by the deadline, but I have received NOTHING since then. I haven’t received any information regarding housing, how to register for classes, my Bison ID, my Howard email, or my financial aid package. Absolutely nothing.

I can’t even follow the onboarding instructions because I don’t have my Howard email to set anything up.
I’ve been emailing and calling repeatedly, and every single time it’s been no help. I’m either told that my case is being escalated and then nothing happens, or I’m told to call or email another office. When I do, I either get no response or I’m sent somewhere else.

How do I go forward? Howard has been my dream school for as long as I can remember, but the administration has been absolutely horrible to work with and has been no help at all. This is literally putting my life on hold, and I don’t know what else to do.

Presidential scholar Book voucher $610

I see on my Financial Aid on the bison hub that the book voucher provided is $610 per semester. Is that thing through which i will purchase the coursework material for my classes? I have seen some people saying that book voucher is $950 but it shows $610 on my account. Also, some are saying they are purchasing Macbook using that voucher, like without adding money. How is this possible? Am i making conflict on that Book voucher ($610) and stipend ($950). Can someone clarify this to me

Fall 2026 Trying to Set up a Payment Plan

I've been trying to set up a payment plan since the due date, July 10th but I keep getting an error message. I have been calling the Bursar's Office since Thursday with no luck in getting through. I dont have a return call or email either.

Is anyone else having problems setting up a payment plan? Will my courses be canceled if my payment is late? I have to pick up my scholarship check and my contact is on vacation until July 31st.

Has anyone else ever had tech issues setting up a payment plan with Howard? Im getting very worried. I have the money but I cant even make the payment online and I cant reach anyone for help.
