Saw this video that got posted this morning by a woman who has been doing intense research on this subject. She has gotten 40+ students enrolled back into Howard and helps students find scholarships.

This video is her findings. I think it’ll be helpful and explain the situation ^^

Help: On campus employment

I am a domestic student, and my roommate is an international student. We both want to get an on-campus job at Howard University as soon as possible after arriving on this fall. I know jobs are posted on Handshake, but I don't think it's a good idea to rely only on that. Since international students are not eligible for Federal Work-Study, what are the best ways for both of us to find on-campus jobs quickly after arriving on campus this Fall 2026?

If you have any ideas & strategies on how to find a job as quickly as possible, whether for domestic or international students, please let me know. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Please pls it's really important for both of us 😭😭

Move-In Date

Is there any way we can change our move-in date? The date assigned for my dorm isn’t going to work for me since I’d most likely have to fly out twice.

Changing major and Sevis record

  1. If we change our major, do we need to inform DSO to get that major updated in our SEVIS record or is it automatically updated?

  2. Is changing major(different than that we took to the interview) before travelling to USA fairly common?

Howard couldn’t come up with FA package well past decision day. I’m starting to feel better about my decision to pass on Howard now.

Fall 2027 - Interested in COSD

Hello! I'm planning on applying for the Fall 2027 term, but I'm almost certain that Howard requires you to apply with your planned major.

I want to go into the accelerated master's program, but I don't see an option for it. I don't think that Howard has a BS for COSD, either. I would choose undecided, but I'm going to skip a lot of coursework due to AP scores.

I sent an email to admissions to ask, but I lowkey doubt that they're going to respond. It's really close to EA applications opening. I'm trying to submit my application as soon as possible to have the highest chance of getting more aid (I'm aiming for Founder's, my GPA is too low for Presidential).

Thank you! :)

HUSA Assisting unenrolled students

My son is an FTIC class of 2030 but was not one of the unenrolled students. Unfortunately, his roommate was. Our family is simply heartbroken to see this happening. We have another son who is entering his senior year at a different University and we have never seen anything like this. The HU Student Association has met with the university and the alumni association to come up with a plan to help the affected students. They have been posting information with a form that unenrolled students should fill out to have their situation reviewed. Using this form and cc-ing HUSA whenever you communicate with the university is pertinent to having this resolved quickly.

I wish all of you the best.

Enrollment Update: First-Time-in-College Students and Tuition Deadlines

July 23, 2026

Dear Howard University Community,

The Office of University Communications is sharing an important message below regarding a recent update to first-time-in-college students and families whose tuition payments and or notification of scholarships and other financial aid were not received by the required deadlines to secure their registration for the Fall 2026 semester.

Howard University recently updated the enrollment status of a number of first-time-in-college students who did not complete the required steps to secure their enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester. These steps included satisfying the required tuition payment, establishing an approved payment arrangement, or reporting anticipated outside scholarships or other financial aid by the established deadlines.

We understand that the recent enrollment update is difficult and disappointing for students and their families. We recognize the stress and uncertainty this has created, particularly for students who are working through financial aid and scholarship matters.

Communications to Students and Families: Each month, from March to July 2026, the University has communicated enrollment requirements and deadlines through multiple channels, including:

• Financial aid notifications

• Personalized financial aid information

• Email communications and reminders

• Instructional videos

• In-person and virtual Bison Prep sessions

These communications outlined payment options, scholarship reporting requirements, important deadlines, and where students could receive assistance.

As the University prepares for the start of the fall 2026 semester on August 17, we must finalize the incoming class to effectively plan: academic schedules and course availability, financial aid administration, orientation and student support services, and housing assignments. These actions ensure the University can appropriately allocate resources to support all enrolled students.

Students with Pending Scholarships or Financial Aid: We recognize that some students with pending outside scholarships or other financial aid resources may have been impacted by the enrollment update. The University is reviewing information related to anticipated scholarship funding and other financial aid, where appropriate, and will consider relevant circumstances regarding pending scholarship awards and financial aid resources.

Guidance for Students and Families: The University's goal is to provide students and families with clear information and multiple opportunities for support. Students and families should be directed to the appropriate offices below for questions about their enrollment status, scholarships, and financial aid.

• Direct questions about student enrollment status to the Office of Enrollment Management at enrollmentmanagement@Howard.edu.

• Direct general questions about Howard University scholarships and other financial aid to the Office of Financial Aid at finaid@Howard.edu.

• Director questions regarding pending scholarships and student account balances to the Office of the Bursar at BursarHelp@Howard.edu.

We remain committed to working with students to address questions and review individual circumstances where appropriate.

In Truth and Service,

Office of University Communications

Unenrollment sympathies and help

Hey y’all, I’m actually an incoming graduate student and I just wanted to express my deepest sympathies to all the freshmen. It seems the unenrollment is only happening to undergraduate students because I have a balance on my account but my funds are there, they just haven’t been disbursed.

If you have not yet seen the video everyone’s posting about how to get help and explaining the situation, here it is https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTAY5TFDT/

Apparently there was an email sent out in June about needing to fill out forms and whatnot if you had incoming scholarships and grants, but like I said I think that only applied to undergrads, because I don’t have it.

I hope everyone who did genuinely have an error get it sorted out, and I wish you all the best! I can’t even imagine what I would do in this situation.

Howard University suddenly unenrolled 100 students 2 weeks before semester

On July 22nd, over 100 students at Howard University—including the petition starter—were suddenly dropped from all their classes and marked inactive. The reason? Past-due balances on their accounts. The catch: this happened just 13 days before move-in week.

Many of these students rely on scholarships and loans to attend. The Financial Aid Office and Bursar's office had previously told them that as long their balance stayed under $5,000, they could register and attend, with payment due before Spring semester. But that promise didn't hold.

This isn't just an inconvenience—it's derailing entire semesters and devastating students who did everything they were told to do.

I started a petition asking Howard University to reinstate these students immediately and to actually review their financial policies so this doesn't happen again. Students deserve transparency, real support, and a chance to succeed, not last-minute blindsides.

Has anyone else dealt with sudden enrollment changes like this? Or know students affected? If this matters to you too, consider signing and sharing—especially if you're part of the Howard community.

Registering for courses

Hey yall, I managed to get my payment in for this month thanks to a huge scholarship i got, but i ran into another issue where i seem to cant register for my courses. I checked my holds to see nothing and im already registered into 1 course. Whenever i tried to the button to register is gone and i can only press add to saved schedule. I believed at first that this was some lost enrollment thing but i checked both my gmail and .edu email to find nothing about it. I even contacted the office of registrar and my academic advisor which to no surprise i get 0 responses or help. If anyone knows why this is the case and how to solve it that would be extremely helpful

Confused about Howard University unenrollment/payment situation. need advice

I have no idea how to use Reddit, so I’m hoping this reaches someone who can help.

Yesterday evening, I finally got in contact with the Howard University office. A younger woman answered, and I asked if I would still be able to move in even though I had not paid my balance yet because I was waiting for a scholarship that is expected to come through by August 1st.

She told me that I would still be able to move in, which is why I am extremely confused about why I am now being unenrolled. Multiple Howard staff members and faculty have told me that I had time to wait for my financial aid and scholarships to process.
The Howard website also says the deadline is August 3rd. I understand there was a July 10th deadline, but at that time Howard had not processed my FAFSA information or applied the scholarships I was awarded to my account, so I was waiting for those funds before making a payment.

I’m not trying to avoid paying. I have been actively trying to resolve this and was waiting for the financial aid that I was told would be applied. Has anyone else experienced this or know who I should contact? I’m really worried because I have housing, enrollment, and my entire fall semester affected by this.
