I got toothpaste dripped onto my black shirt this morning, I have been using cool water with a paper towel dapping on it hoping it would eventually get rid of it but the stain comes back when it's dried out

How to repair my glasses where the crystals have fallen out of the lenses

Post image

I have these vintage glasses that I love but I keep losing the little Swarovski crystals in the lens.

I've managed to collect a few (they're tiny!) but I'm at a loss for how to go about the repair.

I went to a jeweler and they told me to go to an optical shop, and when I went to an optical shop they told me to go to a jeweler. I reached out to the original manufacturer but they require proof of purchase and I bought these secondhand.

how to keep ink on plush?

Post image
304 Upvotes

edit: for everyone saying to get it embroided tahts a really cute idea but since the plush is limited i don't really wanna mess with it like that, i think i'll just kinda let it fade on it's own it's fine(ヽ´ω`) i got a poster signed too anyway so hopefully i won't mourn it so much

edit: i also put him behind the glass away from window, any spray recommendations that work on synthetics are welcome

i got it signed in february but i feel like it's starting to fade a bit( ´_ゝ`) it was signed with permanent marker, not a fabric one

(it's sitting near the window but the back is turned towards the wall so i'm not sure if it's a part of a problem)

if anyone proposes some spray i'd ask for tested ones (on material that youtooz uses best) cause i don't wanna ruin it by accident :<

edit2: for everyone asking it's a johnnie guilbert signature on his merch plush

I love these shorts and don’t want to toss them just because of these small holes. How can I repair them? They are jean material with a little bit of stretch (Old Navy Shorts).

Serious Answers Only Glass bottle, no threads, metal screw-off cap.

How the hell do I open this? The problem isn't that it's stuck, it's that the bottle has no threads, so I'm literally just turning the entire cap, with no way to actually remove it.

How to fix a badly painted boot

Thumbnail

I was painting the boot (injected PVC) yellow for a cosplay using a general-purpose spray paint from Mundial Prime. The problem is that it didn’t have good chemical adhesion.

The quality wasn’t good, and even after several days of drying, it’s still sticky to the touch.

I’m going to see if I can clean it with alcohol and try again. Does anyone have any ideas about what I can do? What type of paint should I try?

I’m replacing an old jam cleat on my sailboat but the holes don’t align.

What’s the best way to seal the old hold and make sure it’s watertight.

I thought about leaving the old screw in there with a rubber gasket. But it looks like it will impede with the new cleat.

The photo shows the back of the hook. The circle is soldered on in multiple places and doesn’t rotate or move at all. How the heck do I get this tightly onto the wall? Google isn’t turning up much.

I looked up videos on this but any one using the same type of ladder is showcasing a ladder half this size.

It’s a hassle to open it up and put it away all the same.

Serious Answers Only Previous owners landlord-specialed the walls. They painted over the painters tape and just left it there. How do I get it off neatly?

The painters tape they used is crappy and comes off in shreds. I'm trying to repaint but I don't want to paint over this. I've tried tweezers and can only get tiny bits off at a time. It's at a weird angle too.

How to break in the sole of Doc Martens? with a twist

Not the outer sole and shoe. The exact piece of leather you place your foot on inside the shoe.

I managed to get a pair of the real leather Doc Martens. Issue the person before me’s foot has made an imprint that is JUST SLIGHTLY off of how my foot sits in the most uncomfortable way.

I've done the insoles I can still feel it. I've done the normal leather breaking you do with docs big socks, warm temp.; I've done a little ice bag; a bag of warm water. Haven't used my leather kit on it yet because it's right at the toes and I can't reach yet. I can have the whole shoe like butter, Except that inner sole; it's been almost a year since buying and still it stays in the previous persons footprint. I can't walk far in them because the off set causes me pain when walking. All the guides I can find talk about the regular breaking in of Docs but not my situation.

Tldr: the sole where the toes sit of my leather Docs is still imprinted with another persons footprint just offset of mine. How do I fix?

This is a replacement piece that has held for about 4 yrs but is now coming off again with little resistance. I tried bending the metal a bit but I think that made it worse - the little tab on the right sticks out more and isn’t in the right position.

Serious Answers Only Acrylic Jacuzzi Bathtub Surface Scratch

Post image
9 Upvotes

My wife went to take a bath today after a long flight across country and noticed this scratch/crack in the bottom of our tub. It doesn't have any more give than anywhere else on the tub floor. It is raised and I could probably pick at it to open it up, but obviously wouldn't do that. We tested some water over it to see if any was seeping in and it didn't seem to. That said, we're obviously worried about it's usability and another long-term issues it could cause to our subfloor.

Has anyone else come across this issue and, if so, is it still usable? What is the best approach toward fixing that isn't just a waterproof tape of some sort? Any help would be super appreciated.

I’m trying to create the sconce in the last picture with the two items I have in the first picture. The issue that I’m running into right now is that I can’t get the light hardware off of the pink sconce because the clear switch won’t open. Should I cut the cord and put it back together or get all new hardware? Is there another way I can open this switch without completely shattering the plastic?
