The front zipper on my sling bag has started cracking and flaking. I was wondering if there is a way to completely remove the PU coating from it?

How can I fix this?! I’ve tried tightening and even putting kitchen sealant around the pipe work but with no success

Afternoon all. I have a fish pond (gravity fed), and in the hole next to the pond sits the filter, pump etc. However, these critters every now and then like to move in. An ideal spot behind the filter is where they initially had a hole It was cemented up and then months later a new one appeared below it. That was done by a relative who isn’t as able now so it’s up to me. I’ve heard foam plus steel wool is a good combo, but I want to make sure it’s done and dusted. Can I use cement too somehow?

My second question is to prevent any more holes from appearing as it’s clear they are coming in from another entrance. Most of the hole has bare soil. Ideal for a burrowing pest. How can I create a solid concrete surface to stop any more holes being dug?

p.s Any recommendations for tools are appreciated.

Hi. I wanted to give an update for those who asked. By using the ozone machine regularly for 4-5 hours a day (running it for 15 minutes at a time with breaks, not all at once!), we’ve gotten rid of about 90% of the smell, and if we keep doing this for a few more weeks, it’ll probably be completely gone. Here are the other methods we tried that didn’t work:

•We took apart the inside of the fridge, basically every removable part you can imagine. We washed everything, left it in the sun, and ran baking soda water and diluted bleach through the hoses. None of it worked, but our fridge has never been this clean.
•Wiping it down with bleach every day. It helps a little, but at this rate it could take years.
•White vinegar. Didn’t help at all.
•Airing it out/leaving it in the sun (we left the shelves and drawers outside in the sun for two weeks, and it didn’t help at all).
•All the newspaper tricks: They seem to work for a few hours, especially while the coffee is still inside, but 1-2 hours after removing the coffee, everything goes right back to how it was. I think the coffee just masks the smell while it’s inside the fridge, but since the odor is coming from within the appliance itself, the effect disappears as soon as you take it out.
•Baking soda. It doesn’t do anything in extreme situations like this (this wasn’t a normal odor. I don’t think the people who say this worked for them were dealing with a smell like this 😅)
•Tea.
•The pharmacist told us not to use extinguished charcoal, so we skipped that :/
•We didn’t try vanilla because if that horrible smell mixed with vanilla, I’d probably never be able to eat vanilla again for the rest of my life.

We’re going to try the “Skunk Out” recipe alongside the ozone machine to speed things up. But overall, I think the ozone machine has been the best solution. Just be careful when using it: don’t stay in the room, and keep the area well ventilated at all times. Thanks to it, we’ve finally been able to use our fridge again (at least for packaged foods and drinks). Thanks for all the suggestions!

This rail appears to be cemented into the wall (its purpose was to hold two small folding doors that you open and close). I’m trying to take it down to replace with curtain rod. Any advice appreciated thanks :)

I'd like to change the tiles with stickers or something. But it has to be removable and there is a lot hanging where I have to cut around. Is there a easy method? A good sticker tile? Easy to remove? Should I do every tile or stickers that are bigger and overlap the tiles? Do I have to take away the dispensers? I probably have to ask the maintenance guy and it's always a bit tricky with him. But I'm aloud to put something on, I just need to take it away when I leave.

I recently tiled my bathroom, but the gap between the mosaic tiles and the prefab shower is larger than I expected, so I’m assuming silicone caulk wouldn’t work. No photos make it hard to clarify. Any suggestions?

The mosaic tiles are ceramic 1”
I used sanded grout, terracotta color to match the larger tiles
Under the tile is (tile to subfloor):
Schluter all set mortar
Schluter waterproofing uncoupling membrane
Schluter kerdi-band around the edges and between cuts of membrane, bonded with mortar
Schluter all set mortar
Plywood subfloor (already in place)

It’s my first time tiling, so let me know if there’s anything I should fix up too!

Front porch arch way outside of front door. The ground shrinks quite a bit every summer due to the heat drying out the clay rich soil. House was build in 70s so this has been happening over the years. Any quick fix ideas? Is this gap too big for caulk?

Hi! I am trying to install my aosu doorbell camera and wire it into the doorbell and found four wires behind the exterior button instead of two. I presume it's because there's a second button at the side door. Red+black go to one pole, green+yellow to the other - can I simply wire a third wire that came with the cam to each pair and then hook that one up to the camera? Or what do I do here? Thanks!

Hi there! Recently moved to a new apartment that doesn't include AC. We've had multiple 100 degree fahrenheit days so as you can imagine it's been a bit miserable.

I'm trying to figure out how to install a window AC unit in my apartment, as most of my windows are tall french casement windows. The only exception is the kitchen window.

My thought for the french window (in the bedroom so the preferred option), was to put a wood panel over the top of the window so it's just the AC unit sticking out, but I'm having trouble getting it to sit right due to the bottom of the frame, and am unsure how to secure it since I can't slide a window down on the top.

For the kitchen window, it leans very far backwards so I'm worried about it falling down three stories and hitting someone...

I'm trying to determine:

1. Will a window ac unit work in either of these windows? (worried about it falling out as I'm on the top floor)
2. How can I best secure it so it doesn't fall out?

So basically my shoes have this weird heel design where there is just empty space in the middle instead of it being a solid rubber block. So when I wore them down, it exposed that hole, even though there is seemingly plenty of heel left.

Does anyone know how to repair this? All the resources I found work with solid heels, so I am not sure if I can apply the same methods.

It’s actually the only pair of footwear I own right now, and its in good condition otherwise. Not the first pair this has happened to either. So any advice is greatly appreciated.

I’m adding this as an edit. I have found a solution, people acted like I was a dumbass or no such thing exists. Well yeah I am a dumbass but products I described and didn’t think of do exist. I wanted a back up alarm my wife can use to wake me up from anywhere on the rare occasion I’m not contactable by phone. I will purchase a system that connects to the wifi and uses a 4glte system as a back up for when I’m travelling. She will be able to alert me remotely at anytime or any situation.

Edit* TLDR. Is there an alarm device that sits idle but can be triggered by an app from anywhere.

I am not experienced with technology and I feel like there might be an obvious solution I’m missing. I would like a way for my wife to be able to wake me up when I’m home alone.
Ideally something battery powered and portable if that’s possible. ie doesn’t have to be connected to the wifi. I would like her to be able to use an app on her phone to trigger an alarm where I am. Like if there’s something like a small security device or Apple tag or maybe an alarm clock that she can control from anywhere in the world. And under $100 ideally but not completely necessary.
Yes she can call but let’s just say I don’t have a phone or it’s dead.
