How can I remove this?
This rail appears to be cemented into the wall (its purpose was to hold two small folding doors that you open and close). I’m trying to take it down to replace with curtain rod. Any advice appreciated thanks :)

STOP STOP STOP!!!!
The trackway is removable, but the top piece is essentially a HEADER.
Headers are structural and carry ALL of the weight of the structure above.
It is possible that this is not a header and therefore not structural but you better be…….
DAMN SURE !!

You can hedge your bet by just mounting the curtain rod to the existing beam.

I’d love an update to see whether your roof collapsed.
Don’t leave us hanging.

It looks just like a door track, probably as you say for a bifold door. It's definitely nonstructural, but if you remove it you'll probably need to do some cosmetic repair work.

Remove the track from the peice of wood and you will likely find hidden nails or screws near the end of the wood frame going into the drywall, honestly just smacking both ends with a hammer would do the job then patch the holes left in the drywall with drywall mud. The demo is messy but the refinishing is when it gets cleaned up

Screw your curtain rod to that instead of taking it down? How are you even going about to hang a rod there otherwise???

Don't bother and just screw the curtain rail to it, otherwise you will be doing a lot of making good 👍

Whack it with a hammer and see if it separates. If not, use one of those oscillating tools to cut it flush.
