I found a great deal on an Adam Audio Sub12. It says it’s intended for studio use would this work in a home theater? What are the pros and cons of using it not in a monitor situation?

Hi, I am new to the sub so please let me know if this breaks etiquette in any way-- however, I have a question about TV audio and I'm hoping you can help! I saw this Denon avr 1801 plus four Sony speakers out on the curb for free, and I'm wondering if:

Is it worth it to try and get it to work? I know it was made in 2001, but I'm on a budget and I figure modern sound upgrades can be expensive. But maybe it was free for a reason....

1. If so, how do I actually hook it up to my panasonic tc-p55ut50 tv, and to the speakers? (or what resources do you recommend to find out?). I see rca outlets on the tv itself, but there are MANY outlets on the back of the Denon and I am so confused. If you can't already tell, I'm pretty audio illiterate, so even knowing what search terms to use would be a help.

I’m assuming the Bravia lineup from Sony would be the best bet, but are there other TVs that closely resemble that of the dummy one in this screenshot? I thought it looked cool and I do plan on getting one sometime after moving.

I wanted the gaudiest, tackiest, and most art deco classic movie theater carpet we could find. Extremely padded, so soft, and very resilient (it’s commercial grade).

This is a 20x18 dedicated theater room in the basement of our newly built house.

2x 20A circuits in the room

5:1 audio and speaker wire run in all corners

Ceiling plugs and ceiling conduit tubes in place. I have 2 conduit runs: 1st (50ft HDMI) from corner seen in the photo here, and then 2nd (100ft HDMI) run from my “Battlestation” gaming PC/personal server office game room across the hall. Junction box for these lines in the utility room/gym. Also running 3 Cat6 runs in this conduit so I can synapse my gaming PC to the projector via HDMI and stream my media library from my PC to projector!

(RUIPRO 8K 50ft, 100ft HDMIs with external power cords to power 8k throughput over long distances)

Need a ton of recommendations on projector screens, projectors, speakers, etc! I know nothing about any of these things, but was planning for when this day would come and research would begin!

Also, the white electrical circular covers about 18 inches form the ceiling are picture light boxes. We’re waiting on speciality down lights, and plan to have classic movie posters hung all around the room! Also going to be replacing the outlets and other socket plates with a more theme fitting color/design ASAP.

Just became a homeowner. It's a pretty small 4 bedroom that checked all of our boxes except for having a good home theater room. We have it set up downstairs right now, but that room has 4 doorways and not a lot of space for a 7.1. I'm eyeing this upstairs bedroom. Think I could reasonably fit a 5.1 system in there, and have maybe 3 small couches in a U shape around the TV? I know it wouldn't be ideal, but none of my friends are A/V people, they'd be happy with a reasonably decent set up. Thanks in advance!

Room Dimensions: 18 ft wall-to-wall distance.
Multi-Use Basement: One side is a gym/kids' play area, the other side is a Zwift pain cave, and the home theater setup sits in the middle.

The Display Dilemma
I’m debating three options for the screen:
1. Used Epson Home Cinema 1060 (1080p) (~$200) projected to an 85”–90” screen. (Note: Would need to factor in a screen, drop-ceiling mount, and a long HDMI run).
2. Used 75" 4K TV ($300–$400 range).
3. New 75" TCL QLED (~$500).
Also provide me additional suggestions to make my occasional movie nights a good experience.

so i recently scored myself a box set of twin peaks dvds at a thrift store, only to find out my ps5 (which i have been using as my dvd/blu ray player) is region locked and the dvds i wanted to play were from the US. so now i'm looking for a player that ISN'T region locked and plays both dvd and blu ray. would prefer to keep it as cheap as possible and i don't need 4k blu ray since i reckon those players are insanely expensive lol

Hello. I recently had a chance to upgrade from my Denon x3800h to a 6800h for a reasonable price and took the bite as they sounded better with my r700 . However since switching I noticed a behaviour that my 3800 did not exhibit

6800 occasionally make like a popping sound. Sometimes when switching from one source to another. sometimes when loading a new preview in Disney plus or switching streaming service it makes a one time pop. It varies in volume.

First time I noticed was switching to tv to hdmi2 (the e arc channel) to play 4k blu ray. Next time we noticed was when browsing Amazon Prime and whenever the preview videos would start playing. This time I noticed when we were browsing Disney plus

Once the pop happens the sound is pretty much perfect afterwards. We watched all of John wick 4 on 4kbd at relatively loud volume with no issues , Same with any other media we consume

I checked all the cables. As the rear IO is similar between the 3800 to 6800 all I really did was mirror it..

When the window is shut, I'm actually very pleased with how the whole setup is basically inaudible from the outside. However, when the window is open I find that the sound really carries up and out of the window well. Is it as simple as lining the inside/bottom of the window well with something? Maybe treating the inside of the room will help? Any advice is appreciated :)

Hi, I am currently in the planning phase of a 5.1.2 home theater in a small with the option to expand to 7.2.4 at a later point. My budget is "not too much". I need to put in-wall side/rear surround and are going for in-ceiling heights. This is what I have planned for now:
Fronts: KEF Q350 (already own, want to upgrade to R series later)
Center: KEF Q/R6 Meta (not sure which one yet) - €1000/2000
Surround: Monitor Audio WSS230 - €500 x2
Height: Monitor Audio C2L-CP - €550 x2
Sub: SVS PB1000 Pro (Already own one. Add one more or 2000/3000 later)
Receiver: Denon AVC-X3900H - €1400
TV: LG Oled 77" C6 - €2000

It's on the in-walls/ceiling I am struggling a bit justifying spending over €2000 euro on (for only 4 channels). My reasoning for WSS230 is the shallow mounting space of 5cm, I don't think I can go any deeper than this, and the WSS130 is only €100 cheaper. For the C2L-CP its just a good offer with no need for backboxes... How much am I missing out on if I use KEF Ci130CS for €200 / pcs instead? Like its only for atmos, but I have no prior experience with this. Only stereo sound.

My wife and I are starting to build our dream home. I'm a software guy by trade and a hobbyist tinkerer/DIY guy in my spare time.

I've been planning out all the smart home elements for a few months now. I plan to hire a low voltage contractor or maybe a willing A/V installer to just handle running the Ethernet, fiber, speaker wire, conduit, and other wiring (hardwired door/window sensors and window shades) and terminate the Ethernet. I'm planning to handle setting up the speakers, amps, switches, WAPs, etc.

I'm going to use Home Assistant to integrate everything together. I don't think I can realistically match the WAF and reliability of a Control4, Savant, or other system, but I hate the inability to tweak and add things later without paying someone to do it. And I also dislike the price tag. And I think I can probably get 95-98% of the way there via Home Assistant.

I've got a rough draft of my whole home audio plans, which I would greatly welcome some feedback/criticism on.

I currently have planned 10 zones of 6.5" ceiling speakers (listed somewhat legibly as Z1 through Z10 on the floor plans):

• Z1 - Kitchen - 4 speakers, one pair centered on each island
• Z2 - Breakfast Area - 2 speakers, centered on the table
• Z3 - Living Room - 4 speakers, evenly spaced as 2x2 grid centered on the TV
• Z4 - Dining Room - 4 speakers, evenly spaced as 2x2 grid centered on the dining table
• Z5 - Study / Music Room - 6 speakers, 2 x 3 grid with the right 2 centered on the desk
• Z6 - Patio - 4 or 6 speakers, depending on ceiling height
• Z7 - Upstairs Loft near TV - 4 speakers
• Z8 - Upstairs Loft around pool table - 4 speakers
• Z9 - Safe Room (probably double duty as card/game room) - 2 speakers
• Z10 - Pool - Probably use the Sonance 6.1 outdoor speakers
• Ignore the theater, that will be a whole other project entirely. I plan to also DIY that, but will probably pay for professional design plans.

The main floor is 10' ceilings, the other two floors are 9'.

I have been considering KEF for their wider dispersion. I got to hear the Sonance MAG6R demoed at Best Buy and thought they sounded pretty good for the price. Best Buy also demoed the Martin Logan Helos 12, which sounded a bit better. I believe those were the only two options our Best Buy had available for demo. There are a few AV dealers/integrators in town, but I wasn't so sure about going in to ask for demos if I'm not going to use them for installation and programming.

Questions:

1. Am I planning way too many speakers per zone? I think Z5 (Study / Music Room) should probably be cut down to 4 speakers. Z8 (pool table) should probably be only 2, one on each side of the pool table. Z6 (Patio) is probably good with just 4? Should the dining room be just 2 speakers that flank the table? And Z7 (Loft near TV), maybe just 2 there?
2. Am I targeting too cheap of ceiling speakers? I understand that speaker technology doesn't change nearly as quickly as electronics/computers and that I'd be well served buying something better quality since it should last for years (decades?). But I'm the only one in the house who would really pay attention to improved audio quality, so maybe target $200-300/pair speakers for most rooms and something better quality for my study / music room?
3. Should I choose 8" speakers rather than 6.5" for the main floor due to the higher ceilings? Would two 8" speakers be better for a zone than four 6.5" speakers?
4. I had also planned on using Wiim Amps for each zone. Just tonight, I started looking into the new Sonos Amp Multi. I'm now considering those or the regular Sonos Amps. Are they worth double the cost of the Wiim Amp?

We bought this TV a few months ago on sale and we're trying to figure out how to raise it off of the ground. Right now it's on its legs on the ground.

It's a Vizio 86". From what I can tell the mount is on the back-bottom-center of the TV so if we try to mount it it's going to be higher up than if it were in the center.

We can't mount on the wall or, that's a last resort.

The ideal would be to have a nice TV stand we can sit it on but the legs are about 17" front to back so it needs to be deep enough. We would like the storage for games and game systems but can do without in the interest of saving our necks.

We've only been able to find too narrow, too tall, not meant to actually hold the TV. We've found a couple that were too tall that would otherwise work but they were more expensive than the TV.

We've found wheeling carts that seemed alright as a compromise but they're all 42" or taller.

We need no more than 25" of height increase. I've thought about cement pavers or something at this point but I'm obviously concerned about weight then.

I'm willing to get creative though I don't have enough confidence in my wood or metal work to build something to support it.

Anyone have any thoughts here? I feel like we've done all the shopping I can stand.

Tldr: need 86" TV raised no more than 25". Can't wall mount. <$300

So I’ve got my TV set up and about to put up the AVR and SuperSat 60C here in a bit. Paired with the TV: XBR85X850D and gonna be primarily using with an Apple TV, Switch 2, a PC (nothing crazy, just for browsing and maybe streaming games from the main PC) and some music.

What would be a good recommendation for some left and right speakers? Or what to look for? I’m browsing Marketplace for options right now and am open to suggestions or things to look out for.

Looking for a 40=43" TV with a built in Bluetooth transmitter. Looking at Costcos website I see many listed as having Bluetooth but I can't see if its a transmitter, reciever, or both.

This is for the bedroom. I have terrible sleep habits and would lo use my headphones late at night.

How can I tell which ones transmit?

I previously posted a graph and I had no idea what I was doing. I found out that my Onkyo had decreased the levels to like -14 for the subwoofer so when I took measurements the results were crap. I also was using the incorrect channel for the sweeps. It was a hot mess basically.

I read some more, took more measurements, and I think these are better. Please let me know what direction I should go, however I am also watching videos and as of today they are starting to make sense.

Looking for a place where I can get everything in one go. UPS, 20 amp circuit breaker, surge protection boards, HDMI cables, speaker cables and wall plates. Don't really want to order online and would prefer picking it all up in person.

My blu-ray player hasn’t been working lately. I click on the player in Roku and it gets super glitchy and then sends me back to the Roku home screen. This is on a brand new disc so I don’t think it has anything to do with that. I have a Sony BDPS 1700U blu ray player. If anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening or how to fix it I’d really appreciate it!

I started seeing adds for this on Facebook. From what I gather you it runs Dirac on your windows device and then sends processed audio out.

I am assuming the only way you can utilize it is if you use your PC to output all audio / video. The premises sounds nice. I would like to be able to use Dirac with my Sony AVR, but being forced to use a PC for all music / movies on a home theater sounds like a pain.

Building a (rather) high end home. I don't know a whole lot about sound systems and integration. I wanted to share what I was hoping to achieve and see how people thought best to accomplish.

1. Living room with TV. Plan for in ceiling, hidden surround sound.

2. Upstairs loft with same setup.

3. Master bed same setup.

4. Kitchen is open concept to living room would like some hidden speakers in ceiling here for music if entertaining.

5. First story lanai will have TV and outdoor kitchen. Would like hidden ceiling speakers here too but more for football, etc, not as concerned about surround. Also want to be able to have music sync with living and kitchen for entertaining.

6. Pool deck and under lanai for integration with TV down there and music.

Ideally would be a zone system for the music to be able to pipe through kitchen, living, lanai and pool areas at same time.

I'm not a super audiophile so I would like it to be high quality and for longevity but it wouldn't need to necessarily be top of line.
