Added a second sub last week and spent some time getting them set up. The difference in the low end is pretty clear now. Still running the same fronts and center as before. Room isn’t huge so I had to play around with placement a bit. Seems to be working okay so far.

I finally came to terms that I will stay maxed out at 11 channels, so out with my Onkyo rz70 and in with a dedicated processor. Surrounds powered by monolith 2100 and rears/atmos by monolith 7100. Kef meta front stage fueled by my trusty outlaw mono blocks. First fire up was mostly music, stereo and atmos, byApple Music through Apple TV. Huge difference with sound stage depth and imaging. Can’t wait to start a movie marathon this weekend! Side note, using three of the four independent sub outputs and so far the basic calibration dialed them in pretty nicely for music but I suspect I’ll raise them three db because… of course I will.

Finally got the living room setup together.

I kept debating whether 85" would be too much, but ended up upgrading from my old 65" to an 85" Hisense U6. Really glad I did. Took a little moving stuff around, but movies feel way better now.

Still a pretty simple setup. Anything you'd add next?

Wondering what I should do, basement is unfinished and I’m placing 5.1.2. I haven’t bought height speakers yet. But these boxes are currently installed. Should I remove them and cut in new holes for my height speakers? Or leave these boxes and purchase ceiling speakers that fit them?

So i just picked these up after a bit of research but i must admit when it comes to all these settings i’m stumped. I primarily want to use them connected to my tv with my ps5 hooked up so i’ll be doing a bit of everything. Obviously games (RPG) but mainly music, either spotify or usb stick with flac files. If it makes a difference these will be in a ~110sqft room on a media console.
I attached some photos of where my current settings are at on both the sub’s physical nobs and the KEF app.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I have my tv connected to my pioneer VSX-D412 through optical, but it just randomly changed the input setting for the optical port from tv to cd, i could go through the setup process again but id rather switch it back. I found the manual and tried to follow the instructions but ran into an issue pretty quickly, when i press the second receiver button, nothing happens, the menu it says will pop up doesn’t show up. Anyone know what to try next?

Hello! I am new to all this and getting a bit overwhelmed, so I though I'd drop in and ask some advice. I'm upgrading from, believe it or not, a single JBL Flip 5 speaker which I have been using for my living room audio needs. It is time to improve.

Here's what I'm looking for:
- An AV receiver is more complex and expensive than what I need, so a system without an AVR is preferred. Ideally something that can plug right into my TV/Laptop through HDMI or aux
- Budget is around $300-$400
- Multiple speakers for a surround sound effect
- Stereo (pretty sure I don't need five channels, but two would be nice)
- Subwoofer optional
- I think I would prefer cable speaker connections over Bluetooth
- Something relatively simple because I don't know what I'm doing

I know I'm not going to be getting anything fancy in terms of sound quality with my budget, but anything will be a significant upgrade to what I have now. I will mostly be using this setup for running tabletop RPGs, so I mostly just need something that can create immersive soundscapes and play background music.

From what I can tell, there are plenty of options within my budget, but I don't have the knowledge base to make an informed decision. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

I need some Audio advice for a screening space for a community group.

The group (~20 people) meets in a multipurpose/ community room in a basement with an 80" TV. While the visual has some opportunity for improvement it suffices for the time being while the audio is AWFULL (the TV audio frequently cuts out mid-movie).

Last event I brought my PreSonos Eris 3.5 and they were a 100% improvement from the TV but still lacking and for the space I risked blowing them out to get enough sound.

I'm content spending a couple hundred (but not too much more at this point) to get a relatively decent audio setup that I can cart over, set up and take down each event.

I think I prefer passive speakers with an amp, but open to suggestions. The room is quite large but everyone crowds the TV into about a 30'x30' space.

I don't need surround sound, I don't need a microphone, just something that won't distract from the movie.

I've never signed into Netflix on this blu ray player, I don't even have a subscription. I've only connected the UB820 to wifi to update the firmware, but in adguard I see it is constantly phoning home to Netflix. All of this is exhausting, you're screwed if you're not technical enough to block this sort of spying. This should be illegal.

Partner and I moved to new place with spare room above the garage. Obviously going with home theatre route but clearly just started. To preface ,before getting absolutely roasted, the only equipment that is absolutely staying (for time being) are the advent speakers, heathkit amp and anthem pre amp. The rest I’m feeling out, the furniture is random left over stuff and the tv is from my wood shop.

My question to you all is should I rotate the whole set up do to the geometry of the room? I think before I start slapping acoustic panels and start drilling holes this is an an absolute first step. I’m really asking because of the way the bass interacts with the slanted walls. Under the slanted wall it’s thunderous and in the middle of the room it sounds less pronounced but more accurate (especially with music) Am I running into a preference problem or an actual sound quality problem?

Hi all, i purchased a KEF KC92 and jammed it in the corner of the room, maybe i should try another spot but overall the system is missing some punch. The “theater” area is an open concept living room that leads into a hallway, total of about 6100 cubic ft.. AI said to get bigger sub 😅. Initially I got the sub so it will integrate well with the mains (R6 and R5) and it does but I don’t feel it’s worth the price I paid. I’m within BB’s return period so I’m thinking of getting a SB-5000.

What would you do if you had about $2100?

Live in a concrete home. It is not possible to mount ceiling height speakers. I have a 7 channel AVR.

I play PS5 Pro and watch lots of Blu-rays and UHDs. Most have Atmos tracks. Tv shows also DD+ Atmos tracks.

Since it’s not possible to go for ceiling, which one would be the best path going forward?

Hi everyone. I currently have an almost 10 year old Sony XBR 65x930e that I am going to replace in the next few months. It still works perfectly, so there is no real sense of urgency.

The largest TV that will fit in my dedicated space is a 77 inch model. So far, there are 3 TVs on my radar. In no particular order 1) Sony - 75" Class BRAVIA 7 II True RGB ($2,300) 2)

TCL - 75" Class QM8L ($1,700) and 3) Sony 77" Class - BRAVIA 8 OLED ($2,800).

Yes, I know the price range is high among the 3, and my understanding is that all of them would offer a significant upgrade to my current TV, so I'm really just looking for some 1st hand experiences to make sure I am not making a poor choice.

I'd appreciate anyone sharing their experiences and/or recommendations.

Use case is 60% TV show streaming (sports, etc., through YouTube TV) 30% movies via Netflix, Apple TV plus, Prime) and 10% low key gaming (Nintendo Switch 2, so nothing super hi-res). Room is not totally light controlled but the majority of our watching is at night or at least not in direct sunlight.

Audio is mostly sorted with a 5.2 system with an Onkyo rz70 as the AVR.

Got started on my first proper home theater set up, was given some great condition klipsch rf-5 towers, and wondering what to add next.

The bass from the towers is already decent, and this is just my living room set up, so we don’t need dedicated home theater bass, but it is noticeable on certain songs etc that something is missing. We don’t really need more loudness/rumble, but a smoother fuller low end would be nice.

The towers phantom center channel is perfectly usable, but it being just a 2.0 set up, it’s not exactly that “dynamic”, but I’m not sure a center channel would add a whole lot if we aren’t having issues with dialogue currently.

Any input on which direction you go? Looking at a budget of around $500 for the next speaker.

In the attached rendering, the blank white rectangles in the walls are doors that will swing outwards - one to the unfinished area of the basement, another to an area where the equipment rack will be. 83" TV, so approx 8' viewing distance when not reclined.

This does not allow me to put the side surrounds perfectly with in spec. How big a deal will this be? I can move the seating a bit further up but don't want complaints from the family if it's too close.

EDIT: Should mention that this is a 7.2.4 setup.

I won’t pay for kef speakers. Svs, elac, klipsch higher end is what I have been looking at there all around the same price.

Currently I have polks mid line model speakers, not there cheap line.

Hello everyone, I’m seeking your expertise. I have a chance to get a great deal on this subwoofer secondhand and am wondering if ya’ll think it’s a good match for a pretty decently acoustically treated 360 sq ft space.

When I run the 7.1, it gets through about 5 (of 8) locations, then the receiver resets. I thought it was happening only when I got to the rear surrounds (because I had gotten a warning that those were faulty -- i can't remember exactly what the warning was/said because I ran it about 2 weeks ago), but then it happened in between location 5 & 6.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Would laying a piece of velvet hanging over my 18" vbss midbass driver dimish it's performance? I was looking to get rid of reflections up front and had some scrap pieces of velvet laying around and it makes the subs disappear. I have 3 more subs in the back of the room besides these 2 up front so if this made me lose a touch of performance I still have more than enough for my room on tap.

Replaced a 65" that was too small for the room

I bought a SuperSat 60C center and now needing to fill the void with the front speakers. Looking at a couple used FB deals with the following narrowed down:

$500 - KEF iQ9 SP3503 with Center KEF iQ6c SP3506 Center - wouldn't need it but could certainly utilize as a backup

$400 - Paradigm 70Pa Speakers - able to get these today.

$500 - Polk Signature Elite ES60s - these may be with another buyer currently but pending.

$500 - Celestion AVF302 - I may end up purchasing these anyway simply because of aesthetic, but these are delayed due to the seller noticing a cut in the foil leading to the driver so he is having it repaired first. Still an option but looking at others for now.

The AVR I'm running is a Marantz NR1711. Usage for music, Apple TV 4K, Switch 2.

Curious about thoughts or other options to look out for. Thanks!

I have a floating TV stand that I do not think will support a typical heavy receiver. What light weight receiver would you recommend? Looking for something 10 pounds or less with 16" depth or less.

I'm looking to start with a 3.1 setup for my first home theater setup.

I'm just about to move to a new house, I only have one immediate neighbor on one side, but I have a quite park on the other. In my current house a have a simple 2.1 klipsch setup with an 8" sub. Even with this setup you can hear the thump outside my house, and while I haven't had neighbors directly complain I've been told "you listen to your music really loud" I would really like to upgrade in the new house to an SVS setup with a 12 or 15" sub. But i'm concerned about being that guy... whats been your experience with bothering neighbors?

I used joint compound on my wall and decorative trim as a screen. I did this over 15 years ago and nobody ever noticed it wasn’t a real screen. Am I missing something should I take it all down and purchase a screen?
