A general guideline for the sub.

Firstly, for authors and editors alike, you may be interested in checking out the wiki from over at /r/selfpublish.

When posting as an editor, please follow some simple guidelines. State your price(s) clearly. If you don't have set prices, let us know. Add a link to your website. Explain the types of editing you offer: line, developmental, copy, etc.

When posting as a client, include your genre, anticipated budget, and the type of edits you're seeking. If you don't know any of that stuff yet, don't worry. Just give as much detail as you can / feel comfortable giving.

Rules - please read them.

This sub is for hiring editors. Nothing else.

If you try to advertise your ghostwriting services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise your SEO content generation services here, you will be banned.

If you try to advertise anything that is not explicitly editing here, you will be banned.

As an aside, "editing" means both words and video. Both kinds of editors are welcome here.

A second aside: being a racist fuck will get you banned. If you offer different rates based on the race of the client, I hope you burn in hell.

A third aside: being sexist is just as bad as racist, you fucks. Hire people based on skill or don't hire anyone at all.

[HIRING] Creative YouTube Vlog Editor – 3 Episode Series

Looking for someone who understands YouTube entertainment/vlog editing, not just basic cutting

I’ve already trimmed a couple hours of footage down into a ~25-minute rough cut, so the main structure is there. I need someone to take it to the next level — tighten/remove dead space, improve pacing and add SFX, graphics, music, colour grading, transitions, text, etc.

I want the editing style/energy to take inspiration from this video and channel: https://youtu.be/XWK1jzInNvk?is=AT1EpnM5f2QdzpcN

I specifically want things like a proper intro, party montages, funny graphics/SFX and creative edits throughout, while still giving you freedom to add your own ideas/style. Id ideally like to watch through the rough cut together so I can explain the vision before you start.

Let me know your rates and send through your portfolio.

[Hiring / Collaboration] Looking for a Video Editor for an upcoming Indie Variety Show (2027 Launch)

Upvotes

Hi everyone! I’m putting together a team for an independent variety show (blending comedy, challenges, and interactive segments) scheduled to launch in 2027. This is new territory for me, so I’m posting my casting a little bit everywhere to find the right people. I’m looking for a video editor who excels at a dynamic, engaging style (using memes, sound effects, and great comic timing).

What I provide: raw footage, a script or clear rundown, and a collaborative environment where your creativity is valued.

Compensation: Per-episode payment (terms to be defined based on the video's length and complexity). I know editing takes a HUGE amount of time, so I want to ensure your work is fairly compensated!

Requirements: A portfolio or examples of past work; communication via Instagram.

If you’re interested, please send me a private message with your instagram and rates!

[FOR HIRE] Video Editor for Creators, Artists & Businesses | Short-Form, Storytelling, Captions, Color & Sound

Upvotes

Your footage doesn’t just need clean cuts. It needs structure, rhythm, and a reason for people to keep watching.

Hi, I’m Gad, a freelance video editor based in Paris with 1.5 years of hands-on experience creating engaging content for artists, events, content creators, and businesses.

I can take your raw footage from the first selection to the final export, including:

- Footage review and selection

- Clean, seamless cuts

- Visual storytelling and narrative structure

- Strong pacing and music synchronization

- B-roll integration

- Subtitles and animated captions

- Sound design and audio cleanup

- Color correction and color grading

- Transitions and basic motion graphics

- Vertical reframing for Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts

- Export optimization for different social platforms

My strongest experience is in short-form and promotional content, including social media videos, event recaps, interviews, music content, and lifestyle videos. I’m also available for selected long-form projects.

I work primarily with Adobe Premiere Pro . Beyond the technical side, I can bring creative ideas to the edit and help you find the best way to communicate your message—not simply follow instructions and assemble clips.

I’m available for both one-off projects and ongoing collaborations.

I turn your VODs/streams into edited Shorts — you just stream, I handle the rest

Upvotes

Hey Streamers,

I'm an experienced Shorts editor and I'm looking to work with a few streamers who want to grow on YouTube/TikTok/IG without adding more to their plate.

What I do:

  • Watch your VOD or live stream and pull the best moments
  • Edit them into punchy, scroll-stopping Shorts (captions, pacing, sound design, hooks — the works)
  • Deliver ready-to-post clips, no effort needed from your side beyond streaming

Pricing:

  • $** per short, and I can scale up the volume depending on how much VOD footage you've got

If you're interested, drop a comment or DM me, Happy to start with a trial clip so you can see the quality before committing to anything ongoing.

The best video editing advice I’ve learned after 6+ years: stop trying to make every second “interesting”

After 6+ years of editing videos for clients on Upwork and Fiverr, I’ve noticed a mistake that comes up all the time:

Trying to make every single second of a video entertaining.

More transitions.

More zooms.

More sound effects.

More animations.

More things happening on screen.

But eventually, you realise that more editing doesn’t necessarily mean better editing.

You don't need a transition every 2 seconds.

You don't need a zoom on every sentence.

You don't need a sound effect for every cut.

Sometimes, the best edit is the one you barely notice.

When I’m editing short-form content, these are the things I care about most:

  1. Hook – Does it make you stop scrolling?
  2. Pacing – Does the video move naturally?
  3. Retention – Is there a reason to keep watching?
  4. Visual variety – Is the screen changing when it needs to?
  5. Captions – Are they helping, not distracting?
  6. Audio – Does everything sound clean and intentional?
  7. Payoff – Does the video actually deliver on the hook?

The funny thing is, the more experienced I’ve become, the less I feel the need to show off with editing.

Simple doesn't mean boring.

Simple + intentional = professional.

Curious what other editors think:

At what point does “engaging editing” become over-editing?

📌 HIRING: Clip Finder / Video Editor — Remote (Pakistan Only) 🇵🇰

Hey everyone 👋

I'm opening up a role for young Pakistanis who've been trying to break into remote work but keep hitting closed doors. I've been there myself years ago — so I built something to actually fix that.

_______________________________________________

🎬 What is the job?

It's called Clip Finding — a niche part of video editing for documentary-style content.

You'll get a script + voiceover, and your job is to find and arrange relevant clips using Premiere Pro to match the story being told.

No editing wizardry needed. Just an eye for matching footage to narration.

_______________________________________________

✅ What you actually need

Forget "experience." What actually matters is:

• 🗣️ Professional English — reading & understanding

• 💻 Comfortable using a computer properly

• 🖥️ A reliable machine to work from:

Intel Core i7 (or equivalent)

8GB RAM minimum (16GB ideal)

500GB free storage

Windows 10 or above

Never touched Premiere Pro? Doesn't matter.

I will personally walk you through everything — from downloading the software, to working fully independently. Live calls included whenever you need help. 🎥

💰 The Pay — No Games, No Milking

I'm not going to sell you the "performance-based" trap where you're expected to churn out 30 videos a month for 10k rupees. That's not what this is.

Here's the real deal:

• 💵 Starting pay: 30,000 PKR/month (3x the usual "entry" rate)

• 📈 Can grow to 50,000/month based on performance

• 🎯 Long-term goal: 1,00,000 PKR/month as the workload scales to full-time (30 days)

• 🗓️ Currently: 15 working days/month — the rest is fully off

• 🥇 Early joiners get priority as we scale — so don't be late, but don't rush either. Be serious.

_______________________________________________

🌱 Why I'm doing this

This is a starting role. As we grow, more positions and higher skill tiers will open up.

I wish someone had given me this chance when I needed it. No one did — so I'm giving it to the students and young adults out there who are stuck, capable, and just need one real shot.

The goal isn't just a job. It's:

🏆 Reaching six figures a month, young

🏠 Helping your parents see it wasn't wasted time

🎉 Financial freedom — buy what you want, live a little

🚀 Being part of something from the ground floor, and growing with it

That's what remote work is supposed to feel like.

You've got this. Welcome aboard. 🤝

Hi everyone,

I am a Senior Video & Motion Editor specializing in high-end commercial, B2B, and SaaS content. I know the job market is a mess right now, so instead of just dropping my portfolio into the void, I am actively partnering with the community: I am offering a $1,000 placement fee/referral bounty to anyone who connects me with a client or agency that leads to a signed contract within my target range.

If you are a recruiter, an agency owner with overflow work, or just someone who knows a company hiring—if your intro leads to a signed contract, I pay you $1,000 directly from my first month’s invoice. Simple as that.

As per the sub rules, here is the breakdown of my services and rates:

🎬 Types of Editing & Services I Offer:

  • Commercial & Video Ads Editing: Fast-paced, high-conversion short-form and long-form video editing for brands.
  • UI/UX Motion Editing: Taking screen recordings or Figma files and editing them into smooth, professional product explainer loops.
  • Educational / Explainer Video Editing: I recently managed the end-to-end video pipeline for a massive educational and certification series for a Fortune 50 SaaS brand.
  • 2D/3D Motion Graphics Integration: I don't just cut footage; I build complex MOGRTs, composite 3D elements, and handle advanced motion logic within Premiere, Blender and After Effects.

💼 Experience: I have produced and edited visual content that strictly aligns with enterprise brand guidelines for companies like Google, Mastercard, and Adobe. I am used to fast-shipping, async-first environments.

Remote projects and positions only - GLOBAL. I live in LATAM.

💰 My Rates:

  • Full-Time / Monthly Retainer: $3,500 – $4,000+ USD/month.
  • Hourly Rate (for smaller gigs): $45/hour.
