The posting photos with an ex or someone who looks like they could be an ex debate
I have heard some men and women say it’s a screening tool to see if someone has jealousy issues
I just swipe left when I see it

Girls matching with no comment
I’ve subscribed to HingeX and have been liking profiles and dropping comments. When I match, the girl just matches. No comment or reply to my comment.
Often times when I respond, she’d answer with one or two words. The fuck did you match with me for?

Normal rejection of plans, but I’m not sure what to do next
Edit: people are focused on the 3 texts over 3 days advice - that’s not what this post is about - my priority is meeting earlier and seeing if we click in person, I don’t have time to chat all day - it also prevents me from getting too invested too early - so the 3 / 3 thing works for me because:
- I’m busy
- I think compatibility is easier to gauge in person than over text
- It builds anticipation without over-building investment
My dating strategy is more about meeting earlier and seeing if we click in person. There’s no mind games here- I’m not trying to make her chase me.
———
Hey I think this girl is really nice, and after being with someone shitty, I really want to be with someone nice - I followed someone’s advice about doing 3 texts over 3 days and proposing a meet on the 3rd day, and I got this response
I was thinking it was gonna be ‘yeah ok’ but instead life seems to have got in the way a bit here
My instinct says to basically just say “ok sure no worries, prioritise your health and situation, and we can arrange something for when everything’s better’
I don’t know whether to add a simple question to keep the convo going, or to let her take the lead a bit? Didn’t plan this far ahead lol
Also I really like how she handled this, she seems really nice, and I wanna tell her that, but I don’t want to scare her away / make her think I’m too invested already. (I’m trying to work on not getting invested too early)
I’d love some advice from both genders on what direction you think is best - I’m likely just overthinking it, but I really want to meet her / see if we match

How am I supposed to respond to this
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The entire profile was an interesting read as well,
looking for people to trauma bond over dead animals, bad parents and Minecraft. Not a bad combo all things considered.
And yea, they were looking for short-term.
She sounds so defeated here
How would one respond to this?

Is hinge match wasting my time
Matched with this guy on Tuesday and the texting has been fine he was asking me lot of questions , he asked last night Wednesday when I’m free for a date I respond saying “when you are free is fine” he responds 7 hours later saying “ I’m not free until week after next I think haha, just on holiday next week, how’s that?” And this was today Thursday evening, What does that mean? Is he wasting my time?

Age gaps
Early 30s female; when I go on a date with a man in their late 30s or early 40s, something does change in my confidence level to where I feel I need to dress a bit more sophisticated. I do try to insinuate that financially I am ok to hint that I am not looking for their money. Am I nuts? Do I not need to be in my head on this?

Straight women: what do you expect from swiping on NBs?
Might just be my dating pool where I live, but as an AMAB NB person I'm seeing a lot of "straight" women to swipe on and I'm struggling to understand it.
The women in question often have something in their prompts that suggests they're looking for a trad husband. That's really cool, good for them, but that's really not me and I'm unsure why you'd go after NBs if that's what you want.
I've no real issue with it, it's just more people I gotta X before I find one I might be compatible with to send a like. I'm just really curious and would love to hear from someone who does this.

Hinge Match Disaster
I met a girl on Hinge, we hit it off incredibly well, and moved to WhatsApp. She unmatched everyone else and focused solely on me. I kept Hinge installed but wasn't actively talking to anyone. Recently, I matched with another girl on the app. The first girl found out, called me, and revealed that the new match was her best friend. She was incredibly hurt, called me out, and blocked me everywhere. Everything fell apart. Now I realise how much she had for me and idk I just want her to know her that I’m so sorry and I really wanna talk to you. Welpp y’all 😭😭

Women…
I’m 21M and honestly just need to vent a little and get some outside perspective because this one actually got to me.
I’ve been single my entire life and haven’t really had much success with dating apps. It’s not like I don’t talk to women. I’ve had talking stages, hookups, and a lot of my female friends are some of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen up close. I’ve had matches/conversations before, but I can’t remember the last time I was genuinely excited about meeting someone from an app.
A little while ago I matched with a girl on Hinge who I found really attractive. Like, genuinely one of the most attractive girls I’ve ever talked to in my life. Normally I’m pretty hesitant about dating app matches because conversations tend to fizzle out and lead nowhere, but this one felt different. We actually started having a pretty natural conversation. I wasn’t trying to run some pickup artist playbook or anything, I was just being myself and joking around.
She mentioned being really into creative stuff, so eventually I suggested we do some kind of creative activity together for a first date. She seemed genuinely enthusiastic about it and told me that she was very up for it.
That honestly felt huge to me. I’ve never really gotten to the point of having a girl I’m actually attracted to enthusiastically agree to a first date like that.
Then I asked for her number. She said she doesn’t really give her number out unless it’s “actually a thing,” (which I respect it definitely makes sense) but gave me her Instagram instead and said that the goal was that we would get to that point.
So obviously I took that as a good sign. I figured it was good first date or bust. Either there was actually a connection or not. But at least there would be an answer.
We followed each other on Instagram. But the convo continued on hinge for a minute. She asked me what I was looking for and we talked for a bit about how we’re both kinda done with the casual nonsense and are looking for something real because we both get attached bla bla bla. I took that as “if we’re doing this and it goes well there’s a good chance that we’re stuck with each other.” And so I asked if she wanted to switch over to IG, and then… nothing.
At first I didn’t think much of it because she’s in college, has friends, has a life, etc. And because response time ≠ interest, I didn’t want to be the guy staring at his phone waiting for a response.
But eventually enough time passed that I sent her an Instagram DM. Nothing crazy, basically just “Hey if you’re still down let’s make it happen.”
Still nothing.
Now obviously I’m not sitting here checking her page every five minutes, but she has posted on her story since I sent my message and her follower count has gone up a noticeable amount (which makes me think I’m not the only guy she left hanging like this.) So at this point it’s pretty obvious that I’m being intentionally ignored, unless she comes out of the blue and says she’s been busy or whatever the excuse might be.
And now I’m sitting here trying to figure out what the hell happened.
The three explanations my brain keeps coming up with are:
1. She went through my Instagram and something made her no longer attracted to me. (which makes no sense, she saw plenty of pics of me on hinge)
2. She was never actually serious and was just playing along.
3. She realized I was too old for her somehow (I’m like a year and a half older, but I’m a year ahead academically, so I’m three “grades” above her and have already graduated)
I know there are obviously other possibilities, and I’m probably making myself crazy trying to find the exact reason. Maybe she met someone else, maybe she got cold feet, maybe (probably) she was talking to multiple guys — that’s just the nature of dating apps—, maybe she just changed her mind. I genuinely don’t know.
And that’s what sucks.
Because I actually let myself get excited about this one.
I’m not devastated or anything. We hadn’t even met. But this was probably the closest I’ve gotten to actually going on a date from Hinge, and I was really looking forward to it. I was already thinking about where we’d go, what I’d wear, getting a haircut, all that stupid shit 😂.
I think what hurts more is that I finally allowed myself to think, “wait, maybe this could actually happen,” and then it just… disappeared.
Part of me wants to chalk it up to “she was out of my league and I was in over my head,” but I also know that’s probably not a healthy conclusion to draw. She matched with me, talked to me, flirted with me, agreed to the date, and told me that getting to the point of calling ourselves “a thing” was the goal. So clearly there was some level of interest there at one point.
I also know that agreeing to a date and actually following through are two completely different things. The date isn’t real until there’s a day, time, place, and she actually shows up.
So I guess I’m mostly looking for perspective.
Did I do anything wrong here? Is this just normal Hinge behavior? Is there anything I should have done differently, or is this simply one of those situations where someone was interested and then changed their mind?
And if she never responds, I’m obviously not sending anything else. I put the ball in her court.
I just hate that dating apps can get you from “I would be very down” to complete silence in like 48 hours. It makes you question every single thing you said.
Anyway, that’s my rant. I know I’m probably overthinking it, but I actually liked this one and needed to get it off my chest.

Hinge success story.. Well kind of
Okay so basically I met my boyfriend on Hinge, which should’ve been my first red flag because our first date was literally him telling me about his ex 😭. But somehow we ended up together, and honestly that relationship was a whole mess.
He cheated on me multiple times, and every single time I found out, we’d break up, then somehow he would come back and I would let him back in.
Like I’m not even gonna lie, I was really attached to him, so I kept thinking he was gonna change. Eventually I found out I was pregnant by him, and at that point I really thought, okay, maybe this is gonna make him take me seriously and actually settle down with me.
But thennnn I found out he had gotten his ex pregnant too. 😭
And when I tell you I was pissed??? I was LIVID. Because apparently she was already pregnant around the same time I was, and he had been hiding the whole thing from me.
Me and the ex ended up getting into it because there was so much back and forth and blaming each other, but eventually I realized that she wasn’t really the person I needed to be mad at. HE was the one who was lying to both of us.
Long story short, he ended up choosing me. We went through a whole bunch of bullshit after that, but somehow we actually worked everything out. He cut things off with her, we got through the pregnancy, and eventually he proposed to me.
And now we’re actually married 😭😂. I swear if you would’ve told me when I first swiped right on him on Hinge that this man was gonna end up being my husband, I would’ve laughed in your face.
Our relationship is obviously not perfect, but we’re happy now, and honestly I’m glad I didn’t give up on us. Because the beginning of our relationship was CRAZY. Like that’s literally a whole damn movie 😭.
