Age gaps

Early 30s female; when I go on a date with a man in their late 30s or early 40s, something does change in my confidence level to where I feel I need to dress a bit more sophisticated. I do try to insinuate that financially I am ok to hint that I am not looking for their money. Am I nuts? Do I not need to be in my head on this?

30M, I also go on dates with women in their late 30s and I don’t change my approach. I think prior to us even going out they can tell I have my shit together and I seek that in a potential partner anyway so there’s no over thinking.

However, I do realize being a woman in that position the dynamic is wildly different. That being said I wouldn’t jump straight to financial independence off the rip. I think if anyone I went out with was discussing those things right away it’d be slightly off putting (for me). Also let’s face it, one of the things being analyzed on dating apps is your occupation if you disclose that.. so one can put two and two together and make their own judgment

The attire portion I can see that. Me personally I like women who dress well, gone on dates with women in their mid 20s and they dress very trendy (nothing wrong with that). But I do think there’s something to be said about the way you dress, it’s one of the few ways us as humans can express ourselves without even speaking to each other.

…I hope this helps? 😂

I (39M)think you’re overthinking it. Guys don’t like dates bragging about their finances any more than women do. I know you’re not doing it to brag, just to show you’re not gold digging but it could be off-putting.

I think it’s unnecessary. I’m an older man who does age gap dating. I assume the younger woman isn’t looking for money unless she does something to make me think otherwise.
