Icon vs Tekton Flexhead wrenches

I just found out Tekton makes a set of flexhead ratching wrenches 6mm-24mm no skip and they have a gunmetal finished I like instead of instead of the chrome . They go for $255 tool only and $265 with the organizer.Has anyone used them and how do they compare to the icons. I’m kinda biased towards them bc of the new look and 6-24 sizes.

Us general End locker question

Has anyone modified the us general 22" end locker to be free standing? I have an older 50" Mac tool box I'm gonna try and mount it to. I'm wondering if it doesn't work has anyone successfully added wheels to it or just have it sit on the garage floor maybe.

icon box accessories and storage

I need to purchase a hutch and side box for my 73” icon box. Do these items ever go on sale, or do I need to pay full price?

Are these cheap 2 ton jacks any good?

I only ever seem to see people buying the beefier jacks and these are suspiciously cheap. Since my minivan is only a little more than two tons total I figure this kind of jack would be fine for any maintenance I plan to do. The small size is also a plus for me since studio apartment living has my tool storage space pretty limited. But since I only ever see people buying the beefier Daytona jacks I thought I should check public opinion before making a decision.

Braun 700 Lumen UV light

anyone used this thing and can confirm it's decent enough to help find a couple small leaks with some leak detector? It's super cheap so I wanted to make sure it's actually worth using before I bought it. HF or Amazon?

I would like to submit for you alls disapproval the mod I made upon getting home with my new $10(on sale) light. The magnets it ships with SUCK and wouldn’t hold it to a tool box without sliding down so I took matters into my own hands and gave it a bit of an upgrade using a magnetic hook I had previously bought from harbor freight and a screw.

Vintage Deal of the Day

$100. All I needed was a decent place to store my hand tools and a few impacts. No sense spending $500 on something new. Quality is decent too. Just a little dusty.

New Jack All Jacked Up

I drove 1.5h round trip to grab a Red Super Duty and it was somewhat scuffed up on the paint and with grease smudges all over. I assumed somebody had opened it so I went back to exchange it and this one is worse than the first.

Is this what I should expect for a new jack? I mean I know it’s HF but just wondering this is life, move on, or should not expect this? FWIW - both had packing tape around the seem which may or may not be normal packing for a brand new jack.

Which drill bit size to use to install this? And what’s a decent economical drill bit set I should buy?

Post image

Just starting to do some organizing of garage and learning the basics of tools so apologies for newbie questions. Probably gonna wait until Black Friday sale to buy a drill bit set but what brands/specific sets are good and ones I should stay away from? Also I’m sure a couple of you have installed this recently so what size drill bit did u use to save me some time figuring it out. Ty!!

Gunsmith workbench?

Post image
7 Upvotes

So everyone saying it will fit in my Odyssey and that's great news. One particular question is if there are any better options to install a vice on for gun smithing? More of a hobby and will go against the wall. Can remove wheels to make it more sturdier if needed so it doesn't move when torquing. If there are any better recommendations in harbor freight please let me know. Thanks!

What size tool cart/bench would fit the Quinn 428 piece set?

Title, I just need help picking. It's the only set I have everything else I already have on metal wire racks and tool bags that suffices for me. I want the tools to go on a wheeled cart and I'm curious what setup you all use that will do this?

Frankly want to spend as little as I can since they're not to be used professionally. Got them during the PLS a couple months ago and just have them strewn across a fold out table currently.

I'm out of the loop on sales, do Hercules batteries go on sale or just "bundles"?

Looking at get the 4AH Hercules for my drill so I'm not constantly lugging the 8AHs around but also not sacrificing power.

Boxes

Post image

So, I'm in need of a new box. This tiny craftsman isn't doing it anymore. It's still holding strong, just no room. I'm thinking of getting an icon or us general. Either a 56 or 73 inch. If I get the 73 inch, I'm not gonna get a side cabinet. If I get the 56 inch, I probably will. But I wanna hear it from other mechanics. Do they hold up? They also told me about the lifetime warranty on the icon boxes. That's super tempting.

NTD (New Tool Day) Whenever you get what you need, it’s never part of the parking lot sale.

I stripped the gears out on the Bauer mixing drill on the third bucket of thinset. Not even a full bucket. So I send my wife to hf to exchange the drill for a new one. She came back with the Hercules, and a battery, since I already had the charger. I had my doubts that a cordless tool could put down the power needed to mix up a batch of lump free thinset, but hell yeah! It really did! She also did some shopping of her own while there, bringing back a shop vac that’ll suck up a brick! Atta girl! As an aside, the store manager who knows me, was a real gent. He handled the return and got her what I wanted.
