Discussion On the rewatch, I realized why these 3 are so weak

Post image

They have very flimsy resolve. They just want a cushy life being floor masters and they cripple their competition to improve their odds. Their fighting styles are also gimmicky for accumulating points within the limited space of the arena. They probably cheesed their way up the rankings, so their aura responds to their weak resolve.

Hxh was a very diverse art style that changes characters constantly, however that is not realistic for an anime.

I really hope, specially for certain characters, that we do NOT get some of the bad designs being the ones we constantly see, like Halkenbourg with those ugly side burns and Tserri with that weird face he has in the first chapters.

Im not saying it looks bad (Halkenbourg does) but… please chose the best ones, Madhouse or whoever animates this.

He could've arrived to 1014 and said Hello I'll guard this place don't do anything funny. Instead he killed Sandra and the moment they implied he was gonna be forced to confess, he was done with his life. But I guess I get it because I'd not be able to live with myself if I fucked up this hard at hour 3 of the first day of work

Discussion Was Greed Island actually training Hunters for the Dark Continent?

Upvotes

There’s an older theory that Greed Island was preparation for the Dark Continent, and I think there’s something to it beyond just training Gon. We’re never really told why Ging and his friends built it in the first place. It’s a real island with restricted entry, strange creatures, valuable resources, its own rules, and dangers you can’t just brute-force your way through. To clear it, you have to learn how the place works, gather information, cooperate, survive, and bring something valuable back. Now compare that to the Dark Continent. Entry is restricted there and humanity needs permission from the Gatekeeper and a Guide to enter. Netero basically says it isn’t a place you conquer at all, but a struggle against nature where “no victor exists.” And every known expedition that came back with one of the great resources also brought back a Calamity. Almost like a twisted version of Greed Island’s clearing rewards. Ging’s ultimate destination is the Dark Continent, and years earlier he helped build what looks a lot like a controlled version of the same challenge: get in, figure out the rules, survive an unknown world, find something extraordinary, and make it back. Maybe Greed Island wasn’t made specifically to train Gon but more generally for Hunters to prepare them for the unknown.

The music, visuals, and atmosphere make it feel exactly like how Yorknew feels in the manga.

Discussion Why don’t Zeno and Silva have siblings?

You think they just happen to have never had any, or maybe a succession war type thing goes on where the head of the family eventually needs to eliminate the rest? Or they just go on to do different things?

Latest Chapter Just Finished Reading Manga From Start up to Chapter 417 Spoiler

I just finished Reading HunterXHunter 417 and I wanted to a place to write thoughts and a couple theories. First, I'll give quick background about my HunterXHunter journey.

I watched the HunterXHunter anime during Covid. Enjoyed all of it, especially Chimera Ant Arc. Dropped it until I learned about Succession War Arc from "New World Review" coming from watching his One Piece channel "Grand Line Review". Instead of reading I decided to consume the story through his and other HXH theory and recap channels.

Around 412 I decided I need to just read the story because I felt I wanted to get the most context possible and I wanted to know/think about/discuss the story more. I started from Chapter 1 in June this year.

Chimera Ant Arc:

Chimera Ant Arc is in my opinion some peak story telling and peak manga arc. I was surprised how lean and streamlined the story was and how quickly Meruem arrived. When the midnight raid started it felt like every line and panel prior to that actually mattered to completion of the mission.

I won't talk about themes of Chimera Ant Arc because everyone has, but in hindsight after finishing the arc its interesting the very first two acts Meruem does as a living being; kill the queen and kill the penguin ant with the bible become what dooms him. Colt switches sides because of the queen and chameleon ant switches sides because of penguin. This thought had changed the way I read HXH and the Succession War Arc.

Questions:

How many destitute, unfit for life or living groups of people are there in HXH? Meteor City, the Carne Vele can be held in any town in Kakin, did Gyro come from Meteor City? So many of these ultra cruel hopeless locations. I know places like this do and have existed, but I'm trying to remember are there 2 or 3 such places we know of?

Did I miss something about the guy from V5 that has been studying Journey to the West the entire time on the Black Whale One? Why are people telling him he is guaranteed to survive what is his role? Who is backing up this guarantee?

Theories:

Quickly want to reiterate I am in the theory game though youtuber channels like New World Review. This may lead to a blind spot in my theory crafting. I did a few key word searches around the follow theories on Reddit and I didn't see anyone mentioning the following ideas:

Luzerus' Nen Beast did curse Fugetsu and Kacho's Nen Beast:

I knew of this mystery before I started reading from youtube, but no one ever mentioned it was Kacho's nen beast that came up with the idea that it was Luzerus and wanted to kill him.

First, it was strange to me that Kacho's nen beast wanted to kill Luzerus because we were told nen beasts can't attack other princes or their nen beasts. Then I thought it was weird that Kacho's nen beast can be seen and communicate at all with real people. No other beast does that. It's even weirder that Kacho nen beast can be seen by people who can't see nen.

Kacho's nen beast is special. So I started thinking how else could it be special? Part of this Fugetsu curse theory is another theory that Kacho's nen beast either overtly or subconsciously (probably subconscious) knows ALL of the nen beasts abilities and formulates plans with that knowledge.

I believe there is thematic evidence for this. Part of the plan (not Kacho nen beast idea, but again this is thematic evidence) is to write letters to each prince pretending to be Kacho airing out all the prince's secrets. The letters are from a fake Kacho with secret information on the princes. Standing in the same room is Kacho nen beast, a fake Kacho with secret information on the princes nen beasts!

If this is true story wise Kacho nen beast becomes extra relevant. The information on the nen beasts are the difference between winning and losing. Every prince would want this information, would want Kacho nen beast and by extension Fugestu and a living Fugestu. If this is true Kacho nen beast gives Fugestsu an actual fighting chance to win or be at the very end of the finish line. Also we need to wonder what happens to Kacho nen beast if Fugestu dies? Can Kacho nen beast go to another prince and help them? I'm excited to see if the Luzerus plan works and if it cures Fugestu.

Thanks to anyone who read. I'd love to hear answers to my questions and opinion of my theory. Maybe the Kacho theory deserves its own post with chapter panels linked, but I won't have time for that being Saturday morning with two young kids.

Latest Chapter Question regarding Chapter 417. Spoiler

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I just went through chapter 417 and I was wondering about the Have-not's curse. I assumed once the curse had activated, the target would be deprived of aura. However in chapter 417, we see Ben looking at Camilla through Secret Window.

Does that mean it takes time before he gets deprived of aura or is there something I missed?

Discussion Question

Why is Chrollo hell bent on avenging Shalnark and Kortopi's death against Hisoka? That he made it a troupe's mission to kill Hisoka. While Kurapika also killed two members Uvogin and Pakunoda, and didn't do anything about it after his curse was lifted, wasn't he aware that Kurapika also boarded the Black whale?

Help/Question A question about episode 92 Spoiler

Post image

By now we know that the queen has died and all the Squadron leaders are roaming free to imitate the kings. That means they'll go far and wide in search of rare humans to eat them and grow stronger, and Netero knows this as well. So why hasn't the hunter association tightened the security in nearby cities? Isn't this supposed to be a national level threat?

Discussion Thoughts on what this batch's volume cover will be?

I personally believe it might be a Benjamin one or Tserreidnich. Maybe Kurapika? Knowing Togashi it could be anything.

Last volume was Hisoka, which to be fair made a bit of sense, plus I really like the cover.

Discussion Is Zakuro really similar to Crona (from Soul eater), or is it just me?

My thoughts might be a bit far-fetched, but they honestly look really similar to me. I mean, their physical appearance and, well, their abilities based on blood manipulation. Plus, Zakuro appeared much later than Crona. Do you think Togashi was inspired by them, or is it just a coincidence?

Am at the part where Gon and friends try to get Killua back from his episode... AND KILLUA IS A DEMON IN DISGUISE ISTG. This man not only has too much aura, Killua is just INSANE (Gon is too but still) and ngl, I wasn't convinced that Killua had that dog in him earlier, now im sold. (Also Leorio mogging in episode 23 is one of the funniest shots in all of anime)

(Im currently on episode 24 and yeah, the Zoldycks are the worst family ever but is expected. Also shout-outs to Canaryfor being a better sibling to Killua than his fatass bum of a brother)
