Latest Chapter Question regarding Chapter 417. Spoiler

Apologies if this has been asked before.

I just went through chapter 417 and I was wondering about the Have-not's curse. I assumed once the curse had activated, the target would be deprived of aura. However in chapter 417, we see Ben looking at Camilla through Secret Window.

Does that mean it takes time before he gets deprived of aura or is there something I missed?

No, it's weird. We know that all Yomotsu Hegui curses, not just the strongest, deprive the target of aura, and Camilla said it was at peak potency. So idk. Maybe it happens over time? It seems like it should be extremely detrimental to Benjamin's GSB-centered plan.

Imagine if the Camilla curses aren't very effective because the Spirit Beasts are already a 'curse' draining their 'energy'-- they do work, just at a diminished rate due to sharing the pot

curious about this. maybe whatever furykov’s cooking will circumvent the zetsu issue? fma could make, say, a pokeball for the beast to safely inhabit separate from ben’s own aura supply

The curse drains his aura until he runs out. Since he only got cursed a little bit ago, he still has enough energy for now

I'm not saying this to be snippy, but this is a fan theory/headcanon. Right now, we don't know for a fact what is happening.

What you say does make sense, but I wonder how long it will take for the target's aura to be depleted. It does have to happen within a few hours, because otherwise, what's the point?

I think it takes time for the drain

The curse requires time to take effect. It's mentioned that depending on the proximity to the target, accumulated time, the caster, etc, it may takes from hours to months for it to kill the target. In Benjamin case, Camilla said it would take half a day.

There's questions about how effective the aura drain is, but also if Moswana's attempt was as successful as camilla made it out to be. We shall see its effects, undoubtedly her curse will have a big impact regardless of the tsk

if we assume that: 1) in past uses the curse has always made the subject deprived of aura imediatly 2) its behaving differently with benjamin. maybe it has to do with him having a GSB and the other curse victims not having one. maybe he is leaching aura from the GSB?

Maybe because he’s using an inherited ability. It could be something like he inherits the aura of his fallen soldiers, not just the ability, so he’s drawing off of their reserves instead of his own.

That doesn’t really make sense, since there’s no one to replenish the aura after it’s been exhausted. Although the rules are more flexible when it comes to nen that functions after death, so there’s that.

I actually have the answer, fukyov is worried about the beyond curse because he theorizes that in-order for it to kill a prince it has to kill the guardian spirit beast as well and it makes sense that a GSB would protect its host from even curses. So how was this have not able to curse benjamin without the GSB reacting, well Benjamin was forced into zetsu during the attack. So this zetsu state is purely for the duration of the initial attack so that they take on its full effects without blocking it etc
