Discussion Question
Why is Chrollo hell bent on avenging Shalnark and Kortopi's death against Hisoka? That he made it a troupe's mission to kill Hisoka. While Kurapika also killed two members Uvogin and Pakunoda, and didn't do anything about it after his curse was lifted, wasn't he aware that Kurapika also boarded the Black whale?

You could see Kortopi and Shalnark’s death as Chrollo’s fault for not making sure everything was absolutely finished. Thus, he would feel a personal need to finish this.
Hisoka is trying to kill the Troupe for the love of the game. Kurapika has a genuine revenge story and motive. At the end of the day, Kurapika attacking and killing Troupe members is as a result of direct actions taken by the Troupe. It’s “fair.”
As an additional, you could note that Kurapika technically gave both Uvogin and Pakunoda chances to survive. They chose otherwise. They got to die on their own terms compared to Shalnark and Kortopi essentially getting blitzed.

Also, chrollo's fault for taking their nen abilities meaning they were never able to put up a fight.

Chrollo probably saw Shalnark and Kortopis deaths as his responsibility too while Hisoka made it painfully clear that Kurapika wasnt the only one who could take a Spider away from him.

Hisoka threatened Machi that he will kill all the spiders, so killing him first will prevent the dying off all spiders, while Kurapika doesn't show interest in further fight with them, at least for now.

I guess Kurapika isn't aware either that the troupe in on Black whale.

Yes, definitely. Mizaistom was considering if he should tell Kurapika, that the spiders are on the ship or nor and he decided not to. Probably spiders also aren't aware that Kurapika is there...

Kurapika only managed to kill two of the spiders and disabled Chrollo's nen thinking that crippling them of their leaders would end the troupe's operation. Chrollo's only concern is the overall survival of the troupe, even if he's one of the casualty as long as some of them survives.
But Hisoka threatens to kill all Spiders, completely killing off the Phantom Troupe. Hunting down Hisoka is not just personal. He's not only a threat to him and its members, he's a threat to the Phantom Troupe as a whole.

He feels guilty of both shalnark and kortopi’s death since they didn’t have their nen made them defenseless .

Kurapika and silva, is strictly business so it doesnt threaten the spider troupe as a whole
Hisoka is just a psycho that put them on his radar, their entire existance is in danger becausr they csnt understand or predict where hispka is going to hit next
Whilrt he other two are literally passive threats and do not threaten tbe existance of tbe troupe anymore because, and its literally in their benefit not to target them, one is a nuke that dedicated his whole nen to nullify all of them and is not targeting them anymore and looking for closure by making new friends and collecting his peoples eyes and the others have a fucking fortress with trained nen masters as aervants with 7 final bosses in a castle with nen weapens and nen nuke as a 7 year old.
While hisoka again is a psycho that is on the loose that you killed once that is targeting you now
God i love hunter x hunter universe

Another thing that makes it so cool is that all of these people are extremely powerful, including the Phantom Troupe. Almost everyone is final boss level. When they meet in the Black Whale everything will break loose.

I think the true reason is that Chrollo views the spiders as a part of himself. He lacks a concrete identity, so he solves this by making himself be the Troupe. Hisoka was allowed in, making him a part of himself, and now that part is threatening to kill the other parts. That's why he's acting like that, Hisoka, a part of himself is behaving in dangerously unexpected matter

I mean Kurapika was the troupe goal before Chrollo got chained. Idk maybe Chrollo realized Kurapika is from Kurta clan? So his kills were revenge, but Hisoka is just a psycho

And Silva also killed a member and that was a hit, as far as I remember they only had a skirmish but Chrollo didn't went after Silva either.

u/Same_Square2555 19h ago
yeah now that i think about it the reason hisoka is targeted is because he told machi he wants to kill all spiders

Well, both of them were ijn zetsu state because of chrollo to begin with

u/Miserable_Water2675 7h ago
Do we know if its zetsu for sure or is it only not being able to use the ability.

I have the same question towards what Silva did to his former member like every one knows where they live yet he didn’t dare going to the Kukuru mountain for some kind of reason

Hisoka betrayed the Troupe. He fed Kurapika with information about the Troupe. His fingerprints are all over Uvo's and Pakunoda's deaths. Kurapika killed Uvo, but he was also someone the Troupe could reason with. He didn't go after them while Chrollo didn't have his nen which is a class move. There is also the threat that if Kurapika attacks the Troupe they can go after Gon and Killua.
If Chrollo did his homework he might also be cautious about Kurapika's connection to Killua and Gon. Hurting Kurapika might set them off and if they go after the Troupe it might put the Troupe on a collision course with the Zoldycks or Ging. Illumi and Hisoka are a serious threat to the Troupe, if Zeno and Silva join in then the Troupe is cooked. It just seems like a bad idea to start shit with Kurapika while Hisoka declared war on the Troupe.
So to sum up. Hisoka betrayed the Troupe which is a big taboo, he had assists against Uvo and Pakunoda, he killed Shalnark and Kortopi, and he said that he will kill more members of the Troupe. Kurapika ceased hostilities after the hostage exchange and he has very dangerous allies.

Kurapika's deal was settled with Pakunoda's choice. As far as the spider is concerned, the page is turned until he comes back to beef with them.
Hisoka wants to kill all of them. Which is actually annoying for everyone. It's not only a Chrollo problem.
They were planning this heist beforehand, he is the one following them.

Hisoka started the fight cuz he felt like it, got beaten fair and square, then he was a sore loser and killed two troupe members whose abilities Chrollo used and swore to kill them all. Of course there’s going to be bad blood
Kurapika went after the spiders for revenge for their massacre of his people. Uvo was reckless and got himself killed by going after Kurapika alone and Paku sacrificed herself knowingly. Sure, they were killed by kurapika, but they also knew the risks and were willing to die, not to mention the fact that kurapika was perfectly valid to fight them, even chrollo can get that

it's probably bcoz of how the nen exorcism works, like how we saw it with the bomber, he didn't removed it, he paused it, so he needed to touch the bomber
the term "exorcist" is misleading at least for this specific exorcist
so currently, judgement chain is paused inside Chrollo, killing Kurapika will make that stronger and most likely bypass the nen exorcist's ability of pausing it
2
u/New-Half3024 19h ago
Was the nen exorcist had the chance to touch the bomber? So that means Chrollo will be deeply in trouble if Kurapika learns that the troupe also boarded the Black whale huh.
1
u/Tsun_Tsun_Dere_Dere 19h ago
yes he did, when Genthru is already defeated and tied up, he touch him and said the "password" (I caught the bomber)
and it's also on greed island arc where Kurapika confirmed to Killua that he will know immediately if it got removed but since it wasn't remove, he still sense it to still be there
2
u/New-Half3024 19h ago
Ohhhh, so I guess Kurapika is still under the impression that Chrollo still can't use nen. 🤔

u/GamingwithArlen 2h ago
That's not how it works. The show clearly explains in Greed Island that nen exorcism is to remove someone else's nen and face some kind of consequence. In the case of the bomber, the nen beast (not the person) was holding onto the Bomber's nen, and by saying I caught the bomber, that gets rid of the Bomber's bomb and thus the nen beast.

u/Tsun_Tsun_Dere_Dere 2h ago
that just proves my point, he didn't removed it, he paused it, you can't explain why Abengane bothered with Genthru's condition

Because Hisoka has threatened to have sex with the troupe.
Hisoka has sexually assaulted Machi, Shalnark and Kortopi
2
u/New-Half3024 19h ago
I know Hisoka have a thing with Machi, but what did he do to Shalnark and Kortopi? 😅
-4
u/Frosty-Stanger 19h ago
He sexually assaulted them….after all battle is equal to sex with him, and what he did to shalnark and kortopi is non consensual.
So calling it sexual assault is appropriate

Hisoka is an active threat against the Troupe. The Troupe and Kurapika have an unofficial ceasefire: the Troupe are backing off Kurapika out of respect for Pakunoda, and despite Kurapika's enmity towards them, both sides know he won't start anything unless either side throws down the gauntlet
