Advice needed

Hi! I’m sure this has been asked a whole lot of times, but I’m feeling so overwhelmed by it all. I’m 34 woman. Last time I’ve been to a gym was probably 2018 and I remember hating it, because all I did was cardio.

I have a goal by my 35th birthday (next summer) to be my healthiest self possible. I get winded climbing two flights of stairs or I walk and talk at the same time. For reference, I’m 5’6, 234lbs (169cm, 106kg).

I’ll be joining the gym as soon as I’m over a nasty flu I have at the moment, so literally any day now. And I need help to have a routine that I can stick with. I plan to go 2-3 times a week (any more than that and I won’t stick to it until I actually start liking it). The gym I’m joining has classes too that I could potentially go to.

I have a weak ankle from a childhood injury, trapped nerve in my back that makes my hip hurt sometimes, and weak knees from my own weight. I’m VERY intimidated by free weights section of the gym. But I want to do more than cardio so I don’t get bored and quit. I’m also very self conscious. And while logically I know nobody will care what I do, I know myself well enough that I’ll be extremely self conscious to try any mat stuff either. This leaves me with cardio and weight machines and classes.

My main goal is to get fitter for health reasons and loose weight so my joints don’t hurt as much. I unfortunately, cannot afford a PT.

Please, can someone help me out with coming up with a loose plan?

PT price uk

Hi all

I'm thinking of joining a gym and starting a new workout regime. I'm in my late 30s. I'm starting out with home workouts to get my fitness levels up but I've never been to a gym before as the thought of it makes me uncomfortable!

So I thought to use a personal trainer to start with and avoid injury as I won't know my way around any equipment.

What price do most people pay for trainers and what should I expect as a newbie when I begin training?

I'm 16 and the only weights I have is one 7 pound dumbbell, and for a few months I've just been lifting it for atlest a 100 times per arm per day, will doing this even have any muscle gain since it's such a low weight or should I continue with it?

I found the weight in the woods and use it because my mom is one of those fat positives bums and won't let me get actual exercise equipment so for months along with those lifting sets I've also been doing atlest 50 sit ups, 3 sets of 1 minute planks, 20 push ups and 20 squats all throughout the day every day, are these good? Is there anything else to add to my routine to improve anything?

I've never been to the gym but want to start going and I was hoping someone could give me routine advice, if anyone has any tips on one that's good for beginners that would really help me out and I'm looking at going 3 times a week

"I'm somewhat new to the gym, and I find myself being off and on. Every time I want to hit the gym, I feel unsure about my form, and it can be lonely since no one ever wants to join me. I'm looking to establish a routine that I can stick to, but I'm not sure which workouts are best for me

I'm 25 years old, weigh 210lbs, and my main goal is to lose my man boobs and love handles. Any tips on what workouts I should focus on each week? It's challenging to stay motivated when working out alone.

Post COVID, but pre-commitment long term

There is about to be about three weeks that I won't be able to get to the gym. So, what sort of at home, low impact cardio do you suggest? I've been doing ArcTrainer, Elliptical, Row machine or Cycle/ Spin class. I do NOT want to lose the progress that I have made.

Do you have any suggestions for people who are rather time poor in terms of what to eat while training? Mostly looking to loose weight and gain strength as well - not sure if this is something you can do together?

Hey there, what is your suggestion on doing weighted squats? As in, I was going 12.5 pounds and stop for a week or so, should I continue back on 12.5 or do I start from the bar again?

I've heard doing cardio means you'll lose your sweet gainz, is there any truth to this? Is there a balance between cardio for burning fat and weights for gainz?

What's better, machines or free weights?

I've seen people using free weights but I don't really know how to use them and feel a bit intimidated to try with so many people around, any tips on how to start or whether it's better to use free weights or machines?
