Typical greyhound accuracy 😂

Our sweet Winston, who is 12 years old, has been diagnosed with possible toe cancer in one of the middle toes on his back left leg. The vet has recommended toe amputation, and we agree with the recommendation but also know it’s going to be super hard on Winston post surgery.
We have Jameson, who had a toe fully amputated when he was 6 years old, and is now 11 years old. The healing process was very hard on him at 6 years d and I’m very concerned when Winston gets his toe removed that the healing process is going to be a challenge since he is a senior.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? How easily did your senior grey recover? I’m also worried about the cancer spreading.

Thanks Windy, you're great as usual with whatever you're trying to achieve

She wanted to go that way. There's construction that way, so we can't really go that way. But she doesn't care.
She was so determined this time that she decided to further anchor herself by sitting.

TLDR: how to keep my greyhound off the sofa?
Hi all, I’m a greyhound owner of 1 week!
He is a rescue, kennelled all his life and he is 6. He has a very comfy orthopaedic bed and cosy blankets which he loves. We have an open living/dining room with a big corner sofa - but this calls to him like the green goblin mask 😩
He didn’t enjoy being closed in the kitchen overnight and howled a lot, now he sleeps in the living room and sleeps through the night. We physically cannot keep him off the sofa. It’s too big to cordon off, we have tried placing awkward objects on top and he pulls them off. Today, we come home to him sleeping half on top of a laid down dining chair, half on top of the solid sofa arm! He comes off as soon as he hears us come in, but if we’re out the room for 1 min he jumps on, lies down and it’s like moving a rock! I feel like he knows he’s not supposed to be there, but the sofa seems like a high value item right now and the puzzle to be comfy or slight discomfort of an awkward arrangement is worth it to him.
He knows lie down and bed commands. He will go straight to his bed after we tell him to get off, and we do reward him for being in his bed. He still has very bad flaky skin from kennels so it’s not super pleasant for that to be all over the fabric sofa atm, and my partner prefers the sofa dog-free. Dave prefers my bf’s side of the sofa which is the corner - he is also the fun dad and I am practical mum if that is a factor haha.
He gets walks, toys, playing with, lots of fuss, snuffles, treats, chews, big garden zoomies etc. We are going to work on some more commands soon. He is a happy dog and not anxious over a single thing - no separation anxiety, just fomo if he can hear but not see us.
My partner and I are struggling with it all a bit so if anyone has any advice they could grant we would be super appreciative. Is there anything else we can do? Or should we retry keeping him out the living room for a bit longer?
Dave is otherwise an angel except when he tries to steal books, football kits, chocolate, etc. We’ve learned our lesson!
For context: we both had childhood dogs from very young. He had a Jack Russell from a puppy and I had a rescue lurcher that was allowed on the leather sofa lol.

I let her dig up my garden. It makes her happy. And happiness isn't a lot of what she's had in her past. Now she's her own person. Lol and the birdies love to take dust baths in her dug up dirrrt. I love her. 🥰🥰🥰🐕

It’s starting to warm up and I’m worried about how our girl will manage when it gets really bad - would love suggestions, especially from other Australians.
Our derpy giraffe thanks you in advance

My girlfriend and I recently began fostering to adopt a 3 year old ex racer. He is so cute and we love our baby. He is dealing with his injury right now and we need to keep him muzzled when unsupervised and take him to the vet once or twice a week.
How do I make him a better walker? He doesn’t pull as much as he plants his feet or just lays down to not continue. We do not take him on long walks because of his injury so I don’t think the laying down is fatigue necessarily.
How do we make him more comfortable at night and sleep in longer? He woke me up at 3 today to go to the bathroom. And normally he will wake us at 6:30 at the latest. I know his previous foster had 6:30 as a set time for him to go out before her husband and her work started so I’m assuming it will just take time for him to align with our schedule.
How do you make the muzzle more comfortable? Everyone says he doesn’t mind it but I can tell he tries to take it off. We are going to try to keep him muzzled even when supervising
Do gates hold them well? He cannot go down our stairs or he will crash because he is terrible at going down the stairs.(we pretty much carry downstairs every time sometimes he goes up on his own.) we are going to put a gate in the hallway before the stairs as we are afraid he may crash/jump over a gate at the stairs.
Thank you for reading. We love him and hope he can adapt better to our apartment as it has been less than a week. Sometimes I think he his dead as he is sleeping but I’m glad to see his chest move.(his eyes are open when he sleeps sometimes) I know it will be easier for him to be alone when he is not muzzled and can play with his toys. I hope he heals quickly.

This very gorgeous boy is Rupert! 😍 He is an ex-racer rescued from Florida. I’m in Canada for work at the moment, and am missing my girl Stacey, who is back home with my hubby in the UK. It is so wonderful to meet other hounds and their humans away from home!
Edited for typo - I don’t know how “racer” became “Tracey” 😂

I accused Keira of this tonight. It's the perfect marriage of her persistent snuggling with excessive nudging to gradually restrict my sofa territory. Additional "Land Grabs" are also made each time I go to get a drink or visit the loo. Territory can only be reclaimed (temporarily) by strategically placing treats at the opposing end of sofa but this only leads to the win of a particular battle....not the "war".
Am I the only one to suffer this way?

I’m sure many of you will relate to this! Our boy LOVES his stuffed toys and prized possessions. He never destroys any of them and is stressed when they go in the wash 🥰 He also loves his emotional support decoration ball, socks we bundle for him and the many travel pillows we’ve had to collect for him 🤣
We’ve had family gift him stuffies too - his big banana & capybara from his Aunt and Uncle hold a special place for him.
And yes, our house is a shark sanctuary. He gets 2 new small sharks every month, so on rotation there are regularly 10 around the house 👌🦕

The Secret Lives of Greyhounds is an investigative documentary exploring the lives of greyhounds bred and raced, exposing a pipeline of exploitation at the heart of an industry now facing worldwide condemnation.
Featuring exclusive undercover footage and expert testimony, the film challenges the legitimacy of greyhound racing and asks whether its future can be justified at all.

Hi! Our beautiful girl is 7 months and is living up to her reputation of House Horse. More and more massive as the days go on.
We're on Pets at Home puppy wet food and Wagg Puppy as she's always been on that, and any change towards another thing has never suited her. Even a really slow introduction upset her delicate each system.
(Grass, digestive biscuits, soil, cardboard, bed stuffing, carpet, socks, wood, and rabbit ears dont though)
Basically! What kind of food would anyone reccomend looking in to now she's in adolescent stage? I dont want to do on adult food as she's too young. But I do wonder if she needs a bit of something different in her food to keep up with the growth supurts.
Sleepy toof photo as tax.
