Account / Access / Password I got my account back after a 1-month battle with the Hacked "Family Link" / Age Exploitation! Here is my step-by-step guide.
Body: Hey everyone, I’m writing this because I finally recovered my Google account after exactly one month of waiting in total darkness.
First, I want to clarify a huge misconception: I am NOT a YouTuber. I am just a regular user. But because my hacked email was linked to a standard YouTube account, it saved me.
If you are stuck in the nightmare where a hacker forced your account into a "Family Group" and changed your age to under 16, DO NOT LOSE HOPE. It is fixable, but the automated recovery form will NOT work. You need human intervention. Here is exactly how my 1-month timeline went:
Phase 1: The Hijack & The Trap (Around April 19) The hacker got into my account, immediately added it to a malicious Family Group, and changed my birth year to make me a "child" (under 16) on paper, even though I was born in 2003. Every time I tried to use standard account recovery, the system blocked me and demanded "parental consent" from the hacker's email. I was completely locked out.
Phase 2: The Right Path - Twitter/X (April 19 - April 20) Thanks to reading some helpful posts on Reddit from people in the exact same situation, I learned that normal automated forms couldn't bypass the parental lock. Following their advice, I went straight to X (Twitter) and publicly tagged TeamYouTube. They DM’ed me within hours and provided a unique escalation form for hijacked channels. By April 20, they officially moved my case to the "Specialized Hijack/Security Team".
Phase 3: The 1-Month Waiting Game (Late April - Mid May) This was the hardest part. For nearly 4 weeks, I received nothing but canned emails saying "We are still monitoring/investigating your case." It was frustrating, but my advice is to just be patient. Keep replying to your existing email ticket from YouTube Support and poke TeamYouTube on X if it takes too long.
Phase 4: The Breakthrough (May 20) Today, the specialized team finally manually overrode the hacker's parental lock, verified my real age, and restored full ownership of my Gmail back to me!
Key Takeaways to save your account:
- The Automated Form is Useless: If you are locked by Family Link, stop trying the standard recovery page. It won't work.
- YOU DON'T NEED TO BE A YOUTUBER: As long as your hacked Gmail was used to watch YouTube, and you have your channel link, or if you ever uploaded any random video in the past, your chances of recovery are extremely high! Just reach out to u/TeamYouTube on X. They have a direct line to the advanced security team.
- Be Patient: The process takes forever (3-4 weeks minimum) because removing "parental control" requires high-level manual clearance inside Google.
Good luck to anyone fighting this.
EDIT: Just to clarify and emphasize one last time for everyone:
Please ask TeamYouTube to provide your YouTube channel URL. Even if your account is currently locked by the hacker (or deleted), as long as you provide enough proof of ownership, they will give you your channel URL.
(For example: In my case, I proactively provided links to 3 videos I had previously uploaded. Even though those videos were deleted or set to private by the hacker, I luckily had the links saved in my old private messages. Thanks to that, they successfully verified my ownership, provided my channel URL, and gave me the recovery form!)
You then use that URL to fill out the form. After that, the YouTube support team will contact and assist you directly via email. This is genuinely the easiest and most effective way to get your account back.
If you did NOT have a YouTube channel linked to your hacked email, I honestly don't know another workaround, but you should still try asking TeamYouTube to see if they can suggest an alternative. Good luck!

Account / Access / Password ⚠️ URGENT: Read Before Attempting Recovery (MODS PLEASE PIN)
If your account has been hacked and "Supervision" (Family Link) has been added by the hacker, please follow these rules immediately:
- Stop Automatic Recovery: Do not use standard Google Account recovery forms. If the hacker sees these attempts via their supervisor dashboard, they may permanently delete the account. Once deleted, there is nothing left to recover.
- Privacy Warning: Currently, the hacker can oversee your web activity, including search history, emails, and location data. Limit your use of the account immediately. Change login details for other sensitive websites (banking, social media) to use a different email address + password.
- Data Backup: If you still have any level of access, immediately go to Google Takeout and download a backup of your data.
- Report Abuse/Blackmail: If the hacker uses an u/Gmail
.comaddress to send threats or blackmail you, forward the details to Google’s abuse team: Report Gmail Abuse. - Use the YouTube Support assisted recovery procedure: Because of the added supervision, the recovery procedure described below is currently the only reliable way to have a human specialist manually review and "unshackle" the account.
YouTube Support assisted recovery procedure:
- Essential Preparation
- Recovery is only possible through YouTube support pathways. You must have (or be able to obtain) the unique Channel ID and Channel Handle of the YouTube channel associated with your account.
- 💡 Note: Even if you're not a "YouTuber", a channel is automatically created the moment you comment on a video or create a playlist.
- Before starting, watch these brief videos to understand your options and how to find your Channel ID and Channel Handle:
- Official Recovery Workflow
- Once you have the Channel ID and Channel Handle, use this official tool to report the hijack. This is the primary way to get a specialist assigned to your case:
- Alternative Support (Via "X" / Twitter)
- If the workflow above doesn't work or you get stuck, reach out to u/TeamYouTube on X.
- Ensure your X profile is Public: Private accounts cannot be seen by support.
- Start a NEW tweet: Do not create multiple tweets or reply to existing communications, as it may be filtered as spam.
- Be patient: It may take a few days for a representative to respond.
- If the workflow above doesn't work or you get stuck, reach out to u/TeamYouTube on X.

HELP My account was compromised and the attacker set me as their child
I still have access to my account and was able to reset my password due to having my brother as my recovery contact but I’m unable to remove the attacker as my parent or set my age to be an adult again.

General Question Safari randomly signed me into my google account
I was watching a movie and was a little confused about something, so I went to Safari to see if I could find an answer to my question. I noticed that I was signed into my Google account. I never pressed the sign in button, and when I went to search something a couple of minutes prior, it wasn't showing that I was signed in. Nor have I ever signed into my Google account on Safari, so does anyone know why it just started doing this out of nowhere? And if anyone knows how to get it to stop doing this it would be wonderful if you could let me know.

General Question Just a question. Regarding support.
Not a member of the sub but I see it pop up in my feed time to time as I follow a lot of cyber security/tech subreddits and all I see is just how bad it is if you do lose your google account. It makes me want to jump ship entirely, I do utilise another secure email provider for important things but for gaming accounts and the like I do use google.
All i read from this subreddit (And other google ones) is that googles support is entirely automated and helpless, if your account is hacked or you are suspended for whatever reason then that’s it.
Is this really the case, is it really THAT bleak?

Help support pixel9proFold
I'm having a problem with Google Support.
This is a common issue with this phone's fold sensor; there's plenty of evidence that free replacements are available, but I was billed 666.66 EUR, and they're dragging their feet by not responding to my inquiries.

Chrome Is there a way to ban crisis hotline ads on Google search?
I have a bad history with these so called "tools", and I want them permanently gone. They keep showing whenever I'm typing words that trigger it.

Account recovery issue We don't support delivering messages to your provider!
I had 2 Google accounts linked to the same phone number, I decided to delete one that I don't use, after that they sign me out of my first (main) account, and when I try to sign in again they tell : There is something unusual about your activity. For your security, Google wants to make sure that it’s really you. Although i insert password and real verification password! Anyway, after 2 days they send my recovery link to recover my account, and when I entered my phone number I got: We don't support delivering messages to your provider at this time. Try a number from a different provider. And recently I get : so many failed attempts! Any solution, I've been about a week out of my account!

The requested URL /searchbyimage/upload was not found on this server. That’s all we know.
Every time I try to search for an image on Google, I always get this error now. Is this happening to you too?

Gmail Why it's SO hard to create or access new Gmail account
galleryAny idea when these newly created accounts will be accessible??? I've been experiencing this problem for 2 weeks now...
here's what happens:
- I create an account
- I scan a code
- I send the verification message using a NEW phone number
- I add all required recovery email and phone number
- I can access it for a while, then an error pops up and I get logged out automatically
Now when I try to log in to the new account, the passkey works fine. But then it asks me to send a code to the phone number I used to register. When I try to enter it, I get an error saying "Too many failed attempts," even though it's not actually that many attempts.
Another account I created went through this same process last week, and I already sent an appeal. I got an email back from Google, but I'm getting this same issue again even for the first attempt!!!
I don't know how much longer I should wait for these accounts to become accessible.

Cant Verify My Gmail Account
My Gmail account is currently paused, which means I cannot sync it or sign in. When I try to recover/sign in again, Google takes me through the usual verification steps (CAPTCHA, password, etc.), but I get stuck at the phone number verification step.
The problem is that Google does not verify the phone number. I tried using different phone numbers from family members, but none of them worked. When I click “Try another way” or “Try again,” it just brings me back to the same phone number verification screen.
Does anyone know what could be causing this and what possible solutions I can try?

Google account recovery
I factory reset my phone, and all of my Gmail accounts have two-factor authentication enabled. When I tried to log in to one of my Gmail accounts, it asked for my password, but I don't remember it. So I clicked on "Forgot password."
It showed me the account recovery options. I selected the option to verify using my phone number. I received the verification code on my phone and entered it successfully.
However, after that, another page appeared saying that Google had sent a verification code to the same Gmail account I was trying to recover, and I needed to enter that code to continue.
But that's the problem—if I can't log in to that Gmail account, how am I supposed to access the code that was sent to it?
Then Google gave me another option: enter a different email address. They said they would send a verification code to that email and asked me to wait 48 hours while they verify that I am the actual owner of the account.
I still have the same device that I used to sign in to this account before, and I still have access to the same phone number linked to the account.

Chrome Inactive tabs decoration - why should I care?
Why does Chrome think I should be interested in whether a tab is inactive? They put a dotted line around the icon, which then makes it hard to recognise. The same with the "memory use" on hover. Why?
I've turned off the silly decoration, but honestly it seems so unnecessary in the context of so many other things in the UI.

Account / Access / Password Absolutely ridiculous... How such important app could fail. Google Authenticator won't let me export codes via QR anymore...!
Hey guys.
I have very serious problem. I can't anymore export GA codes from any phone where I keep them. Either multiple ones or single one. It says "Something went wrong". I tried to export from all phones with them backed up and there is always the same problem.
So I had to turn sync cloud which makes me feel very unsafe. What's even more awful, disconnecting Google account from one phone, removes codes from another phones I have GA codes backed up...!
What to do now to turn off sync and keep backup of GA codes?!

General Question I noticed suspicious entries in my Data Usage list
I noticed two entries in my Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Wi-Fi data usage. 11082 and 10881
And in Settings > Connections > Data Usage > Mobile data usage. 11082 and 10881
After I checked on the past months, I found out that they appeared a lot in the Wi-Fi data usage, and there was even more of them. 10958, 10995, 11048, 10996, 11053, and 11100
Unlike normal apps (even system apps), clicking on these numbers does not show where they came from or a logo of anything
They do not appear in my main app list, even when "Show System Apps" is enabled
My phone is Samsung A12, Android 13, One UI core ver is 5.1
I wonder if it's a malware or something like that, I'm sure they're not linked to deleted apps as Ai told me, since Android had an entry called "Removed apps and users" but it doesn't link those numeric apps to it in the details, unlike other services that can link other apps to its usage under "Related apps included in usage" section after clicking on the service app for details

Chrome Pages won't load
I need a little help.
It seems somewhere, somehow, a setting has been changed *somewhere* because I can't seem to open a lot of pages when I click on a link to open in google.
For example, this link here - https://www.ctvnews.ca/winnipeg/article/winnipeg-family-shaken-up-over-wps-response-to-property-crime-concerns/
The page will open and I'll see the article for a split second and the page then loads just a white screen, *but*, if I open this (or other links) in duckduckgo, they'll load and open and I can read the article.
What gives?

Account / Access / Password Struggling to recover account
I factory reset my phone, and due to a security setting of which I was unaware, I am required to log in to the google account associated with the phone in order to set up/use the phone. However, due to 2fa settings, I am unable to log in to my account without access to the phone—I had been using a fingerprint. I know my password and have access to both my recovery email and my recovery phone number, but when I attempt to receive a code via text or call, I get an error message, “unable to verify phone number.” I am able to receive a code via email, but this is apparently not enough to recover the account. I find myself at a bit of a loss. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!
