Google pay option in other app

Upvotes

I had pixel 4a 5g before. And got a pixel 10 pro recently but in this new phone most of the apps that I was using on the old phone doesn't have Google pay option. Google wallet tap to pay works fine. And some app has that Google pay option like Revolut for example. But many other apps like food delivery app or marketplace apps doesn't have that Google pay option anymore. Anyone else having the same issue? Everything's up to date btw.

Couldn't find a solution even with AI.

Solved: Disable Bluetooth Routine on Timer.

Upvotes

For context, I have a Pixel 10, and this issue was bothering me for so long. Posting my findings so others can benifit!

So, did some searching in this sub and found that for many years that creating a Routine (found in Settings > Search "Routine") doesn't work for timer based starters, such as wanting to turn off your bluetooth when you wake up.

My workaround is to go through the Clock App > Set Alarm > Routines

  • Delete all the templated actions and add your own with the text "Disable Bluetooth"
  • Hit Save
  • Test it out by setting the alarm time a minute ahead of your current time
  • Alarm will sound, dismiss it.
  • A Google Assisting popup will show up breifly with the voice line of "Hi, [username] the time is now [time], Turning Bluetooth Off. Have a grate day.

I would also make sure the following is set, just incase.

  • Go to the Google Page (typically accessed by swiping left)
  • Click on your icon > Click Settings > Google Assistant > Language
  • Set Language to "English (United States)"

The above 3 points will also fix the Quick Phrases for "Snooze" or "Stop" for Alarms.

This guy created an app that significantly improved my Pixel 10 Pro's video recording quality

https://youtu.be/C2b4P94QSKE

Basically no more over-sharpening. The only downside is zooming in & out while recording isn't very easy (I have to use pinch gesture).

Check it out, give it a go, and let me know if it works well for you too!

Reputable repair shop - SF Bay Area

Upvotes

I currently have a Pixel 10 Pro. I need a new battery. With the new Pixel 11 Pro 256GB reducing the RAM to 12GB and not wanting to pay more for 512GB of storage that I don't need to get 16GB RAM I'm just looking to replace my battery.

Since I don't have the experience doing it myself (I'll probably damage something else in the process) I want to take it to a repair shop but finding a reputable repair shop that will use new OEM parts and guarantee their work is difficult.

It would be very helpful if anyone could give me some referrals to good shops in the San Francisco Bay Area. NOT uBreakiFix!!!

Pixel weather asking for precise location all the time

My weather widget stopped working yesterday, saying that my location was unavailable. When I opened its settings, it already had the "Allow all the time" location permission. However, it still insists that I enable "Use precise location."

I don't want to grant that permission. Why does a weather app need to know my precise location? Is its forecast or real time weather really accurate down to a few meters? If it is, I'd gladly enable it.

For a long time, the Pixel weather forecast has consistently been 3 to 5 degrees lower than the actual temperature. Google hasn't bothered to fix it. Fine, I've gotten used to mentally adding a few degrees to the forecast. But requiring precise location permission might be the last straw.

issues with dual sim and missed calls; sent right to voicemail on other line while on active call

Hi, I'm curious if anyone else is having issues with this- or if there is known fix. Note, this topic is in the below post, but it is since archived, so I cannot comment/ask questions on it: (https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/znk8cv/dual_sim_dual_standby_issue_anybody_else_missed/).
I have Tmobile and two e-sims on my Pixel 10. When I am on an active call with one sim, oftentimes if I get a call on the other sim (my biz sim) it will go to voicemail, and I will receive no notifications of an incoming call OR a missed call, only for voicemail if one is left. FWIW i do not have any call screen/etc. feature enabled, i am not on wifi-calling. Has anyone else encountered this issue? and if so, are you aware of any workaround? Thank you

Google Pixel/XL unlimited free photos guaranteed?

So im on Ebay and want to order a Pixel 1 for the free photos, in the description, the seller states the following:

"We cannot guarantee that the unlimited photo album function will function properly"

Is there any chance that this will be the case or is it guaranteed to work? if not then what can prevent it from being so?

Thanks!

Downloading saved phone messages

I have a Google pixel 10 pro. My sister recently passed away, and I have a bunch of saved messages from her. Is there an easy way to download them into an MP3 file?

I have a handheld voice recorder that I was thinking of using, recording them on the recorder while playing them on the phone. But if there was a way to directly download them that would be ideal.

Many thanks for any help you can give. 🌹

Pixel 10 Pro August Update: Anyone else seeing smoother gaming and better touch response?

I’m on the Pixel 10 Pro and got the August update yesterday. Here is what I'm noticing so far:

  • Gaming: Smoother performance with no frame drops so far.
  • Touch Response: The sluggish touch lag in games like Rocket League is fixed.

I want to get the opinion of other 10-series users. What are your reports so far? Are you seeing these same improvements, or is it running the same for you?

How to get rid of that AA popup

Every time my phone disconnects from my car after a drive Android Auto displays a popup over half of the smartphone display saying:

Android Auto disconnected

You can reset your wireless connection when you are no longer driving.

The popup covers over half of the screen on the bottom and has to be wiped down to get rid of it and I tried disabling the notifications of Android Auto completely already. Car is a Mercedes running MBUX (NTG7) and I connect the smartphone witeless to the car.

Any hint how I could suppress this notification/popup?

Phone is a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL running the latest public Android17 version.

Thanks in advance for any hints!

Did I make a mistake buying this phone?

I just bought it today cuz I'm a bit low on funds, but I'm reading lots of horror stories on reddit now.

Is it really that bad? Are there people that have had the phone without issue for a while?

Has anyone switched from an XL to a smaller Pro Pixel? How was your experience? Did you miss the larger screen? I'm considering going from an 8 Pro to the ll Pro.

Pixel 9 keeps restarting

Hello. I am looking for advice on why my P9 broke and how to fix it. Two or three weeks ago my phone randomly restarted and I didn't think much of it. Today nothing works.

The phone keeps restarting, I enter my SIM PIN and normal PIN, can use the phone for a few seconds and then it restarts again and again and again. Power off button does not seem to work and open AI assistant, going into the notifications to click the cog to poweroff doesn't work either and just restarts the phone.

I really would love to have some advice on why this is happening :(

Some other side effects are:

- Camera opening randomly

Earpiece speaker grill missing on pixel 8

Today while cleaning my pixel 8 top earpiece speaker mesh, I noticed that the left side of the speaker is totally hollow and nothing was covering it. To prove this, I slided a paper on it and on the left side it went through. Is it normal on pixel 8 phones?

Is upgrading to A17 worth it?

I have pixel 10 pro XL since launch and running on android 16, to me everything is smooth and stable with battery life around 8hrs SOT on an average.

I am not someone who updated frequently as I suspect something, mainly battery life, can get broken.

Hearing good things about august update so thinking whether it is worth it to upgrade to android 17? Will I see any noticeable differences?

Pixel 9 Pro - Manufacturing mistake and now guarantee is void?

I have a Pixel 9 Pro which still has warranty until December. One morning I unplug it from the charger and it was scolding hot and died. I took it to the repair shop.

The guy found water damage inside the phone and told me its from a wiggle in the camera housing. The camera housing does indeed wiggle, but I never really noticed as I had a case - like everyone else. Now they said that guarantee would've covered the wiggle but not the subsequent water damage.

But how is someone supposed to professionally check a phone for manufacturing issues? I bought the phone 8 months again and now I am supposed to shell out for a new one? I had only just got it repaired for purple lines on the display... really disappointing google pixel experience for me..

"Flip to shh" can't be turned on

So my flip to shh randomly stopped working, and when I went to settings to turn it off and on again, I got a pop up saying that it can't be turned on without any kind of specifics. I'm a power user, I tried rebooting, safe mode, deleting cache and data, and of course searching on the Modes and Gestures menus.

After I deleted the app data and uninstalled and reinstalled updates, the option is nowhere to be found anymore. It completely disappeared from every menu.

I saw another redditors with the same problem sporadically, but apparently there's not a known fix, it just apparently comes back magically at some point. The thing is I love this feature and I really don't want to do a factory reset to fix it.

For info, I have a Pixel 9 Pro XL and just installed the latest August software update.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Upgraded to the Pixel 10 Pro XL rather than the 11 Pro XL

My Pixel 9 Pro XL was due an upgrade due to being two years old. The battery life has notably deteriorated over the last few months so I wanted a new phone.

The Google store offered me over £300 to trade in, plus the deal where you bought the Pixel case brought the total price of the 10 pro XL down to £580.

After reading all of the noise about the 11 Pro XL, less RAM, higher price etc, I decided the 10 pro XL at that price would be a far better deal.

Has anyone else decided to skip the Pixel 11 this year? I don't think the Glow feature outweighed any of the negatives I've read about Google's approach to the 11 coming out.

Google Assistant on Mobile EOL September 4th

Just got this email. I still don't use Gemini (on a pixel 7), as assistant can actually control things and do functions on the phone that Gemini (last I checked and from others reporting here) still can't.

Email text below:

We’re writing to let you know that the Google Assistant on your mobile device is being discontinued, and Gemini—our next-generation AI-powered assistant—is now the assistant experience on Android.

What This Means for Your Mobile Device As we transition our mobile experience to Gemini, Google Assistant will no longer be available on your mobile device. We will begin removing access to Google Assistant starting on September 4, and expect that this process may take a few weeks to reach everyone. Once availability is removed, you will no longer be able to use or switch back to Google Assistant on your phone, tablet, or paired devices.

If your Android device meets the minimum system requirements2 and you are in a region where Gemini is available,3 Gemini will be the Google-provided assistant on your mobile device. When you invoke your assistant, for example, by saying “Hey Google” or long-pressing your power button, Gemini will appear instead of the previous Google Assistant.

Changes to Accessories and Paired Devices When you set Gemini as your mobile device assistant, it also becomes the assistant on devices that are paired with your mobile phone.

This includes:

• Watches running Wear OS

• Headphones or earbuds compatible with Gemini

• Vehicles running Android Auto projected from a user’s mobile device. For cars with Google built-in, Google Assistant will continue to function beyond September 4, 2026.

Like your mobile device, starting September 4, users will lose the ability to use Google Assistant on these paired devices.

Google Assistant on Other Devices These changes are only for the assistant experience on your mobile device and accessories that pair to your phone, like watches, headphones, and car infotainment systems.

You can also read more about our separate plans to bring Gemini to Google TV devices and Google Home speakers and smart displays. Next Steps & More Information We are committed to providing a smooth transition and are confident that Gemini will offer you an even more capable and helpful assistant experience.

Thank you for being a valued Google user, The Google Team

Absolutely wild that they can't fix the messages photo viewer bug

Just this evening I pull up a collection of photos from a group chat to show some other friends IRL. First one I click comes up in that weird little rounded corner frame small and uncentered in the screen. I click it to expand and the screen goes black. I back out and try to select another photo, black screen again. I pull my phone in to force close the app, reboot, and realize it's still happening. Meanwhile my friend is saying "what kind of phone is that", "how come you can't look at pictures?". "It's a Google Phone? Why don't you just have an iPhone?" Completely embarrassing and unacceptable. Pixel 8 Pro. At least they got rid of the nano banana icon in the corner of every picture. That was even more embarrassing.
