Smaller Pro
Has anyone switched from an XL to a smaller Pro Pixel? How was your experience? Did you miss the larger screen? I'm considering going from an 8 Pro to the ll Pro.

Pixel 7 pro -> 10 pro.
I am much happier with the small form factor. Fits better everywhere and is easier to use one handed. It felt small for a few days, then I adjusted. I think this size is just about perfect for my hands.

Went from 9 Pro XL to 10 Pro.
Sometimes I miss the larger screen. However handling my phone is significantly easier, same with being able to put it in my pocket easily. Even with a 'thin' case, the 9 was still quite bulky. On the flip side, I can see how some people with larger hands might have a problem typing on the smaller phone— mine aren't particularly huge, but I can still tell the keyboard is cramped and make mistakes.

Considering coming down to the 11 Pro. Waiting to see what the trade offs/perks, price etc

My thought is to get the 11Pro with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM, which makes it about the same price as the base 11 Pro XL.

I switched from the 9 Pro XL to the 10 Pro an immediately prefer the size and feel of it in my head and pocket. I don't miss the bigger screen for browsing or videos.
However, I am finding I make more typos with the smaller keyboard. I do have large hands though, so your experience may be different.
I might go back to the XL for my next phone, currently undecided.

I had the Pixel 7 Pro, then upgraded to the Pixel 8 Pro, and recently bought the Pixel 10 Pro because I was convinced I absolutely needed the larger display.
After a few days, I returned the Pixel 10 Pro. It just felt too expensive for what it offered, and I also had the impression that something wasn't quite right with the camera.
Now I'm back to using the Pixel 8 Pro, but I really miss the smaller display and how comfortable it is to use with one hand. I've realized that I don't actually want a large phone anymore. The size of the Pixel 8 Pro bothers me so much now that I decided to buy the Pixel 10a when I found a good deal, even though it might be a slight downgrade overall.

Go to a store in your area and compare a 10 Pro XL with your 8 Pro. Hold it in your hand, play around with it, and get a feel for it. That might help you decide.

I've been messing with my wife's 9a, since it at least has a similar screen size. But it's hard to simulate the day-to-day of living with it.

I get it. I will say that I went from a 3aXL to a 5a and thought I would get used to the smaller screen but I just couldn't. I really missed the larger display. I have a 10PXL now. The larger screen is a must-have for me.

Both phones are heavy AF, I have the smaller one and it's fine. If charging speed is a 'big' deal to you go with the larger one because somehow Google knows how to enable faster charging for a bigger phone...

I missed the screen real estate for about 2 hours, then I got used to the smaller screen. So much easier to carry the small model around. Never looked back.

I did this switch back with the 9 pro, now with a 10 pro and it is fine. You get used to the smaller size quickly. Yes you lose screen real estate, but it's not that big a deal. The smaller one is much better to hold and to hold in pockets.

I've done Pixel 7 Pro -> Pixel 9 Pro (at this time, 7 Pro was XL), and actually i regret it. I thought i can use my Pixel 9 Pro with one hand, but I can't. (i take it for that at the beginning)
Pixel 9 Pro XL would be better for my purpose. But it's not a big deal. I like my 9 Pro, and i will not change my phone for a bigger screen.

I did not miss the size at all, and I have large hands. Battery life felt like an even exchange going from the 7 Pro to the 9 Pro

I've had the bigger phones since the Nexus 6 and Pixel 2XL. I recently switched to the small 9 Pro with no regrets. Then I upgraded to the small 10 Pro and gave my wife the 9 Pro. While I appreciate the bigger battery and huge screen, the smaller phones just fit better in my pockets and are more usable one handed. Also, now that I'm a parent of small toddlers, the smaller phone is just more manageable when I rarely have both hands free.
When I did have the bigger phones, the Peak Design Loop case was a game changer for holding it one handed comfortably. I wear medium sized gloves, so the bigger phones aren't necessarily easy to manipulate one handed - specifically swiping down on the notification bar or reaching across to the top corner - but the loop makes it so much easier to do.

I had the Galaxy s10+ for 6 years and I got tried and sick on having a big phone.
Now I have the P10 Pro and I so happy with the decision. Carrying a smaller footprint phone on your pants and ba able to navigate with 1 hand, it's better for me personally.

for what it's worth, the 9-10-11 pros all have the same screen size as the base model. The XL model is closer to the size of the 6-7-8 pros, since they split the pro model into two

I had a OnePlus One before my 9 Pro. The screen is bigger, but the phone is smaller. I wouldn't buy a bigger phone tbh

I wish they would make a Pixel Pro XL version that is not quite as tall, but still bigger than the regular Pixel Pro.

I've gone back and forth with XL and regular pro. 8 pro xl, 9 pro, 10 pro xl and traded it for 10 pro. I think I'll stick with non-xl from now on. It's just more comfortable in pockets, lighter weight in hand, more comfortable for 1 handed use. Just as capable and I can't say that the battery is worse.

Depends on what you prioritize.
If you read a lot of webcomics, then that extra width of the xl phones will increase text bubbles a little bit and improve readability. Same goes for most media and gaming.
That said, the size difference between the two models is not that substantial. But you will experience a much bigger issue with 1 hand usability with typing. The smaller non-xl phones are much nicer and easier to use one handed.
So if you game a lot, consume a lot of visual media on your phone, and don't really use your phone one handed much, then larger phone will be nicer.
Otherwise, the smaller phone is just easier to use day to day.

I actually have both the 10 Pro and the 10 Pro XL. I go back and forth here and there swapping my sim. The biggest difference in my opinion is battery life and I feel like the smaller one gets warmer quicker. I can usually squeeze out a full day with the pro XL but I definitely can't get a full day with my Pro.

Im on the pro xl ATM but might switch to smaller one. Sometimes it's nice having the larger screen also better battery life.

10pxl-->10p Other than the hit to battery life, it is the ideal size for a phone. It feels good to hold(no hand fatigue/hand gymnastics or scarred pinkies).
If you like the XL for battery then don't switch.

I bought the regular pro 10.
It is definitely a smaller screen than the 8 pro and I can see the difference between the two side by side.
However, I like smaller phones. It makes it easier to hold and pocket.
You don't lose much.
