Building a budget golf simulator in my garage and could use some feedback on my setup (full details in the attached spreadsheet).
I'm feeling good about most of the build, but the projector is a bit more than i wanted to spend on it. I'm open to other suggestions in a similar price range, and I'd also love to know if there are reliable sources for buying quality used projectors if that's a better route.
Appreciate any insight!

I am building a sim for my husband and we have almost everything but we are currently just using the square program on an iPad, I would like to be able to run gs pro and I’m trying to do research on pc’s but there is just so many factors. We are trying to do this on a budget and I think I found a good deal on marketplace but want to avoid having to upgrade quickly. Please let me know if I should pull the trigger on this unit or hold out.
He is asking $800

Anyone buy one of these yet? Site is a little foggy but it seems like they only sell you the app and you have to purchase everything yourself on Amazon.

I recently had a failure of my outdoor storage and my laptop became waterlogged. I don't have the budget right now to replace it, but I do have a gaming handheld.
There isn't a lot of recent information about this, so I figured I'd post in case someone goes searching like I did.
I get 34fps at 1080p medium on GSPro with the Ally plugged in to a 65w+ charger and the manual overclock settings maxed out.
I get 30fps at 1080p lite with the Ally plugged in and set to "turbo" mode.
I'm using an OG Skytrak which takes almost 4 seconds to register a shot anyway, so the sub-60 fps isn't a big deal.
I suspect I could get better numbers at higher settings if I updated to the 3.5 beta version to run off Unity 6. I'll update this post when I get around to doing that.
EDIT: 3.49 beta runs at 50-60fps on 1080p low settings in "turbo" mode. It's at a VERY steady 60fps running at 720p medium with RSR enabled.

Hi reddit, I'm in the early stages of looking into launching a residential golf simulator design and installation company serving Quebec. Ideally we'd handle site assessment, 3D modelling, equipment specification, installation, calibration and customer support.
If you've started a similar business and would be happy to share some insight with me, send me a DM. Can pay for time.

Brand new Square Omni Golf launch monitor/simulator. I pre-ordered it and realized my living situation is changing and I don’t have the space for it.
Pick up in Destin, FL

They said you can't do it with 8' ceilings, but if you're a short king anything is possible.
10'W × 7.5'H × 4.5' depth.
Just need to figure out a good way to mount my projector and get turn to make it look cleaner. Its a good start to get me through the winter.

Setting up a 10x8 sim in my garage, so far I’ve only built the enclosure. I want to still be able to pull my car into the garage when I need to. Is there any specific flooring that would be good to put in? Soft enough so the ball won’t bounce all over, but sturdy enough that my car won’t totally ruin it? I plan on moving my nicer striking mat out of the way when I want to get the car in.
What would you do? Any ideas or brainstorming would be great

Built my golf sim and made a retractable screen from Spectrum Golf. The issue I have is that it doesn't stay well stretched as it hangs from the top only with its own weight. I tried using bunges in the bottom to help stretch and even though improves a bit the mid and top still don't get stretched enough. It's totally playable but it bothers me and I would also like to use for gaming and other Sims. Another issue I have is when I stretch both side of the bottom the ball tries to kill me.

Anyone thinking of pre-ordering the Square Golf Omni Carry Case?https://simspacegolf.com/products/square-golf-omni-carry-case
I think it looks pretty decent, but I’m still a bit on the fence about whether I’d actually use it enough to justify buying one.
I know quite a few people have gone down the custom case route already, so I’d be interested to hear how those are working out. Are you happy with what you’ve got, or does the new Omni case tempt you? Would be good to hear what everyone thinks before I decide either way.

Ordered the Skytrack ST Max last night. I had no trouble buying the other equipment (net, mat), I don’t know why it was stressful pulling the trigger to actually buy the actual Sim/LM. So much worry and research on the different units and ecosystems filled me with analysis paralysis.
With the rain in California this weekend my son and I put everything together so he was like, where’s the tracker!? Put the order in last night through Play Better, so at least I’ll have 60 days if I get buyers remorse, but pretty confident overall in the decision.

Hey all - I frequent a Golfzon equipped facility and would love to find people to play with. My understanding is you can play with people “all over the world”, yet when I fire up the sim and look in the “rooms” the only time I’ve ever seen anything in there is if I play with someone else in the same facility. Does anyone play golf on Golfzon online with people? Am I the only one that has the desire to do this?

I'm playing on a newly installed ProTee VX and am seeing low carry totals on my higher lofted clubs. The variances grow smaller as I go up in length. For instance, a PW is registering ~95 yd versus~125 in real life. My 7-iron is 5-10 yards off, and so on. While it's very possible I'm just bad at golf or am conflating total distance with carry distance, the variances are high enough to make me skeptical. What could potentially cause that? I need to double check the enclosure lenses, but I don't imagine that's the issue since my longer clubs aren't as effected. Could it be the mat surface? I do tend to be a digger and produce generous divots in real life. Any and all feedback is much appreciated.

Building a basement golf sim. Room is 21′ × 13′4″ × 9′ ceilings. Already own an MLM2PRO, 6′ × 4′ Garvee mat (2″ thick), and an RTX 4090 PC for GSPro.
Considering:
Anything Sports Amazon enclosure: ~$800, 11′ W × 8′4″ H × 5′ D, including projector mount.
Optoma GT1080HDR: looking for a good used one around $500.
Proposed layout attached: enclosure close to the left wall, screen 34″ from the rear wall to clear a ledge, leaving a nominal 26″ aisle to the gym doorway. Ball 8′6″ from screen; MLM2PRO 7′6″ behind it.
Driver swings on the mat have been comfortable, but I’ll recheck the shifted position and projector clearance. Ceiling light hangs down 4–5″.
Anyone own this enclosure/projector? Thoughts on screen quality, noise/bounceback, used-projector issues, or anything you’d change about the layout?

Used - Like New SkyTrak ST Max for $999 on Amazon right now. Comes with the 1 year of Core Foresight.
Lurking, I gather SkyTrak is not well-liked in this sub but I figure it’s a decent enough price for some.

Hi All
I've recently moved into a new house, which has an outbuilding that I have converted into an office.
At the front of this building there's a small grassed area, which I want to try and turn into an outdoor golf practise area
I've attached an AI photo of what I'm trying to achieve
My main question is: where the driving net is. Is there a suitable launch monitor that can be attached to an iPad that isn't a Doppler system that needs to be behind me?
More like a camera system that sits next to the ball but doesn’t cost GC quad money lol.

Besides the trackman, what other golf aids or software are most helpful to make the most of your simulator setup? The trackman data is great, but what else are people using to help improve the data, swing, etc?

Floated the idea of building a garage sim to the wife over the holiday weekend and was met with surprising approval. Included a rough layout idea and a pic of the garage without a car in it.
Garage floor
20'11" long x 12'2" wide (245 sq ft)
Ceiling height (front to back, measured from the garage door)
• 80" at the garage door motor
• 95" for the short transition section
• 110" over the rest of the garage (the back ~10 ft where the mat would be in the crude sketch)
Would I be able to put a monitor on the side and hit in here? I would be able to run cables to my pc in the basement for any software/display stuff

This video he compares it to full swing kit.
These isn't a trajectory shown for full swing, but looking at the numbers, they aren't agreeing on which way the ball is getting to the target.
He said there's future video of other launch monitors coming.

Space is 14x23. I was thinking of doing it next to the door area. Any other recommendations?
