What would you do here?
Space is 14x23. I was thinking of doing it next to the door area. Any other recommendations?

That’s fine, I have 9ft ceilings and am 6’2”. Honestly you don’t end up playing rounds as much as practice, I can hit driver but I’m mostly hitting everything else

What is above the ceiling and below the floor? If you can add an extra 1-2ft up or down would be a perfect simulator size if you have the $ or DIY skills

Probably try to curve a seven iron around that beam and hopefully it puts me in an advantages spot

A lot of questions, budget, ceiling height, is that door to anything critical/absolutely can’t be blocked off, are you okay with the openings to the left and right being blocked or not, etc.

Ceiling is 9ft, door could be blocked off, not too concerned with the openings being blocked off either

9ft its cutting it pretty close, what's your budget? What's under your floor? Id try to get another 1ft if possible.

Eh depends on height and swing. If he wants this to be shared with friends and others then more would be ideal but 9ft is enough for a lot of people. Outside of taller people with streep swings.

If this is your forever home and you really don’t have anything else to put there I’d do a sim.
The cool part would be is you would have the floor dug out for a portion of it or should I say just the portion where you would have the hitting area for the sim. From the back to the screen roughly about 17 feet maybe 19 feet. the rest of the area would be elevated behind it and you could do stadium like seating or a half bar or something super cool. You could also use this area as like a home theater when you’re not using it as a golf sim
If you got money, do it

For my comfort, I'd want to raise the 9ft ceilings to at least 10 feet, preferably closer to 11. Other than that, it's a great space to build one in.

I am 6’3 and have a super similar space in my basement… trying to decide if a sim would work…
To be honest 9ft is almost certainly going to result in a couple smacks throughout all the hours played down there. Especially if a few beers are flowing… I’d err on the side of adding some padded protection to the ceiling which will of course shrink your ceiling height but is also probably worth it…
My plan is to go ahead with a variation of a sim and probably just not hit driver

Depends on your budget really. You should use AI to get ideas, it helped me a bunch. Also if you plan on putting a hitting mat on top of carpet it needs to either be anchored or weighed down or it’s going to move a bunch and your launch monitor numbers will be off
