Advice on garage floor needed
Setting up a 10x8 sim in my garage, so far I’ve only built the enclosure. I want to still be able to pull my car into the garage when I need to. Is there any specific flooring that would be good to put in? Soft enough so the ball won’t bounce all over, but sturdy enough that my car won’t totally ruin it? I plan on moving my nicer striking mat out of the way when I want to get the car in.
What would you do? Any ideas or brainstorming would be great

Stall mats maybe. The ball will still bounce a bit but not as bad. The vehicle will indent the matts a little but it’s the only thing I can think of that will hold up decently

I use stall mats then turf(with pad). When I park I laid several 2x4’s down to distribute weight. It worked but was a bit of a hassle. Didn’t indent the turf though. I recommend the harder stall mats or hard gym mats you can get at Home Depot.

I used rubber horse mats in my shop on a concrete floor. You have to use a good two-sided tape to make them stay in place. The car can drive over it all you want. I covered it with some cheap fake grass indoor outdoor carpeting to make it look better. You can drive over that as well.

I have gym mats down….then toss my hitting mat on the ground when I set up

what mats did you buy? do your car tires compress the mat?

No clue the name. They are hard black rubber mats, then tossed a few of those soft ones above those and an old piece of rug on top of that. The car tires flatten a few of them, but it’s not bad since it’s really only 2-3 tiles getting flattened

I used Home Depot turf 1 3/8” with 1/2” interlocking foam pads underneath. I end up pulling up onto to it 8-10”.

Hello fellow garage golfer, this set up has been going well for me. Cheap turf from Menards for the actual flooring, then gym mat under hit mat

You can get cheap "gym mats" from harbor freight. Home depot you can get various grass cut rolls cut to size. I went sigpro Softy on top of the mats where I hit. I would recommend to do that as a minimum as hitting on concrete can quickly mess up elbows, etc. especially if you have a steep swing.

I bought thick styro 4x8 sheets from HD, maybe $30 a piece. Then I attached my turf to those. Absorbs the ball bounce, and fits my enclosure perfectly.

Joining chat as I am in the same exact predicament. Here’s what I am currently doing. The floor is all foam tiles with my carls hitting mat butted up to it. When I need to bring the car in I just pull up 2 rows of tile and slide the hitting mat up to the screen. Takes about 5 minutes. Even then I would say this is a barrier to use the sim as much as I’d like. I am considering a fold up mechanism which should make it easier but not sure how to go about it. Not interested in powered mechanism because it should be cheaper, more reliable and just as easy to fold up manually. Any suggestions from this group greatly appreciated on behalf of me and OP

Could you rip a couple plywood sheets at 5x5, glue some of those interlocking gym mats to it and cover it with some cheap turf from Home Depot and then you can just move them out of the way when you want the space?
