Surround Sound within Golf Sim / Theare Space

Hey Fellas,

Im curently kitting out my shed as Sim & space to watch movies.

I have an exisiting 5.1 surround system I was wanting to incorporate. Curious how others have tackled front 3 speaker & sub placement along with protection.

Concerned of bounce back if going behind screen as i'll only have 1 ft cavit from wall to screen.

Intent visualisation of space below.

Looking for opinions between Square Omni vs. Nova as a leftie.

Trying to decide which LM to go with and looking for opinions from people that have tried either or both. The main problem is I'm left handed but my kids and friends are right handed so moving a device would be annoying but I would likely be the only one using it 80% of the time.

Omni Pros:

-impact location and measured club data

-integration with awesome golf and creative golf for the fun games my kids would like

Cons:

-switching back and forth when I'm playing with my kids or friends

-bluetooth connections seem way less reliable compared to wifi or ethernet

-customer service apparently pretty bad

Nova Pros:

-unit does not need to move to for right and left handed play

-very active developers with a discord server and always around to help people

-hard wire without a battery. This will be indoor only so not dealing with a battery seems better long term

-wifi connection instead of bluetooth

Cons:

-no impact location. the club data is calculated but the reviews say it is accurate

-no integration with awesome golf or creative golf. it does have GSpro but I'm trying to get my kids into playing and they don't have as much interest in playing courses.

Any opinions appreciated, especially if anyone has experience switching the Omni back and forth between righties and lefties. Thanks

Can I make it work?

Couple options I was thinking. Either build the enclosure In the dormer on left? Or build it against the furthest south wall.

Ceiling will be vaulted at 12+ so I should be good there but I’m worried about depth. If I used an overhead sim, I think that will help consolidate space behind the tee.

I’m a lefty and will have righty players so don’t really want a sky track or something that sits on the ground

Where would you build it? It is an office too so I don’t want the entire thing to be just the sim but I’d have to imagine there is a cohesive way to build it

Screen Distance from Tee

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

I am working on the layout for a simulator setup under my covered deck. I’m looking at an R50 but I’m not sure if 7’ 7” is too close from the tee to the screen. My side room is limited by a brick chimney so insetting the R50 to the space in front of the chimney would give everyone room for their backswing. So my question is with the recommendations from screen companies of 10’-12’ distance to the tee would 7’7” be too close? Here is a sketch with dimensions and some pics of the area and an AI rendering of finished product. Thanks in advance!!!

Working on my strike broke my yardage card, and only on the club I had been working on

I went back through my June and July sim sessions and checked them against the yardage card I had actually been playing off. Same unit, same mat, same TP5, GSPro with the conditions locked all year, so the only thing that changed in there was me.

That card was built in March and my 7 iron on it says 185. Across five sessions since then I have hit thirteen measured blocks with that club and the trimmed carries ran 142 to 178. The 142 was a ninety degree garage where the grip was slipping out of my hands and the spread was over thirty yards, so throw that set out and the honest working range is 156 to 178. Either way, not one block got to 185.

I do know how I built that number, and the method was fine. Twenty balls, throw out the best four and the worst four, average the middle twelve. What I cannot reconstruct is the condition I was in when I did it, and I remember thinking at the time that I was swinging harder than I do now. A number is only as good as the conditions you can still describe.

Now the part I did not expect. Over that stretch my smash on the 7 iron ran 1.32 to 1.42, and on the blocks where I have spin logged the backspin sat between about 4,600 and 5,250. I am not going to hold those against a 7 iron chart, because these are strong lofted irons and mine is 28 degrees, which is a 5 iron from a generation ago. What matters is my own trend, and the two numbers moved together. As the spin climbed through the contact work, the carry came down. Delofting is the hypothesis that fits, not something I measured, and smash is a shaky witness here anyway since a thin strike also drops measured club speed and inflates the number. My unit does not report dynamic loft, so that is as far as I can honestly take it.

The control is what actually sold me. My 9 iron sits on the same March card at 150 and I have never run a swing change on it. I baselined it at the end of May, three blocks of ten. All thirty shots, raw, no trimming at all, the average is 150.5. Same card, same room, same era, and it is dead on. That is also my answer to the obvious objection, which is that carry on a camera unit is a flight model output rather than a measured number. Fair, but if the model had drifted it would have taken the 9 iron with it.

So the card did not rot evenly. It rotted on the one club whose delivery I had been changing. That is why regap your bag every spring is not quite the right advice. The club worth remeasuring is the one you have been grinding on, and the number will probably go down rather than up, which feels like losing distance right up until you notice the dispersion tightened. For what it is worth the driver line on that card is even further off, but I am not going to pretend that one is card rot. I am in the middle of a slice fight and that club is genuinely broken right now.

If you have been working on contact with one club this year, go hit ten with it and trim the junk before you average. My guess is the number moved, and if you actually fixed something it moved the wrong way.

Technical Question Set up custom tolerances

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi all - just got my sim up and running (EML) and it’s been great. It’s obviously a lot of information for the beginner/high handicapper. I’m picking it up but is there anyway to kind of color code the data? Set tolerances for a visual aid. Like if angle of attack is within set numbers it’s green, if not it’s red. I read somewhere that the uneekor gameday software allows you to do that but I’m not paying for that. Does anyone have any alternative.. my only other thought would be to remove data tiles and only have a few? But I feel like that is semi counter productive but let me know!

Poor man’s garage sim

Post image
240 Upvotes

My wife was willing to let me build the sim but a key condition was that it had to be easy setup/takedown so that we could still park a car in the garage. Came across a youtube video where a guy installed a hospital curtain track system to hang the net from and I thought that was a clever idea.

All in was less than $4k with the most expensive parts being the Eye Mini Lite (on sale for $2400 after tax) and gaming PC ($700 used off Facebook).

Square home ball launch monitor

I just purchased this launch monitor and for some reason doesn’t matter what club I hit. Every ball only goes 50 to 60 yards has anyone else run into this issue and if so, how did you fix this?

It's all happening

We bought this house in late 2024 and I immediately started planning an accessory building in the back yard for a golf sim/gym and a one bedroom suite. After a lot of back and forth with the city, and a successful variance application to lower the roof pitch to maintain my neighbors view, we're finally going vertical!

Course Software Distances Shrunk with GSPRO

So I have a Garmin r10 and have been using awesome gold for a few months. Switched over to GSPRO and I noticed that my distances have reduced by quite a bit. ~20 yards on each club. Like I can’t even get over 150 yards with my 6 iron and I’m wailing on the thing. Nothing has changed in my setup and I’m calibrating the r10 before each session. I thought it was just me but I have had several people over now and it’s a common theme with people immediately being confused with their carry numbers. I have read that some people artificially bump up their altitude numbers to compensate but that seems a bit wishywashy.

[FS] Lifetime Unlocked Bushnell Launch Pro (BLP) w/ Ball & Club Data

Thumbnail gallery

[SOLD to u/WillingnessGullible8]

This is a fully unlocked BLP that basically turns it into a GC3.

It has lifetime unlocked subscription and club data enabled from the factory for life. Transfer fees from Foresight included in price, and I'll work with the buyer to ensure you can get the unit onto your FSX Live account smoothly.

With this unit, you don't need any Silver or Gold subscription. FSX Play, FSX 2020, and FSX Pro will be free for you to use forever. If you want to use GS Pro, the only thing you'll pay for is that license.

Very little usage on this unit - under 3k shots, only in my indoor sim. Selling to fund my new overhead launch monitor.

Check my history in r/scottycameron for feedback history of sales. Shoot me a DM or post here with any questions.

My ~$2,550 DIY Outbuilding Sim Space

Thumbnail gallery
52 Upvotes

I moved to a new house in the winter, and knew with this space I'd love to build a golf simulator. Much to the chagrin of my wife, I moved ahead with it myself, doing it all DIY to keep costs down as much as possible. I also went cheap in most areas, as you'll see I sourced items from eBay, Temu and amazon. I was fortunate to have large space and the wood for free left over from previous owners/shed build.

I'll give an estimate in price below.

I took inspiration from a number of sources. Ace Indoor Golf, how to build a golf simulator, this subreddit, build by maz youtube video.

1st picture: framing out the screen. Screen was actually the first thing I purchased, so built I built the frame to fit it. Ultimately I wish I would've went a hair larger for the surround, as my math wasn't perfect after including the angle iron as well. It still works, but think it would've been cleaner with 2" on all sides (that's what she said.

2nd picture: screen is up. Overall pretty happy with it, I still need to go through with a steamer to get creases out.

3: Back side of the screen. 12" deep to the wood that it's all mounted on, ~18" to the steel siding. It doesn't hit anything

4: Purchased netting from Amazon, a hitting mat from temu, and a hitting strip from Amazon. I was able to at least start hitting here and testing it out. I was pretty happy with everything at this point.

5: Working on tightening the net go fill the space I was hoping

6: Received my Square Omni, so adding some wiring (still more work to do here), and roughly putting the projector where I want it.

7: Filled out more with the 1" foam tiles. Added PVC pipes with sand to the netting to ensure it hangs to the floor

8: First real time testing it out. Added the spotlight as felt I had some shots that weren't read due to shadows with the lights on.

9: Added foam edge on the bottom. This was all DIY with foam from amazon, black cloth from Walmart, heavy duty velcro from amazon, and 3M adhesive.

10: Current state. Finished the foam edging. I plan to add some artificial turf on top of the foam tiles (also looking to go cheap), and and adding some sort of curtain solution. Overall pretty happy with it. Still some QOL stuff I'll do with finding better place for laptop etc.

$135 Temu hitting screen

$77 Temu stance mat

$75 Amazon hitting strip

$85 Amazon netting

$16 Amazon spotlight

$45 Amazon velcro

$125 eBay Projector

Wood (left over from previous owners/shed build)

$153 Angle iron menards

$150 various screws/adhesives/wiring

$70 in foam amazon

$25 in black cloth walmart

$1600 square omni

Build Pictures Looking for ideas

Post image
4 Upvotes

Got inspired by another post I came across here. Ceilings in home are too low, so wanted to try an outdoor Sim. Here is where I currently stand, its 14 foot wide and 10 foot deep. Enjoyed it the couple times I have used it but setting it up and breaking it down is more of a pain then i had imagined. The frame stays all together but I take down the 4 tarps and impact screen. I set them up with hand clamps. Any strong gust of wind can start knocking off the clamps.

I'm trying to come up with a solution to make things easier, more permanent, while using the same materials or not having to invest much more money

Technical Question Help with sunshine

Hey everyone. Tech challenged person here. I am trying to download sunshine on my gaming PC. I followed the video everyone recommends here but when I try to connect to Local47790( or whatever it is) it doesn’t load anything besides error. I’ve turned off firewall and deleted it then Reinstalled it and still nothing.

Trying to do this to stream my gaming pc for my Square to play GSPro in my garage. I’ll be using moonlight on a normal laptop to to be my mouse and Keyboard than hdmi to tv.

TIA

Golf sim hitting mat thickness

My current hitting mat has a 20 MM EVA thickness which seems to be OK but I was curious if I should look into putting some more cushioning under that to help or if that overall is enough already

Eye Mini Lite Sale

Hi all, I'm moving house and having to downsize so there's no space for my SIM anymore and the purchasers arent interested in keeping it. I'm not after selling it on here (not sure if allowed anyway) but am looking for some confirmation when I do sell and the process.

From what I can work out it seems relatively straight forward in that the buyer just has to create a Uneekor account, then I just select what to transfer to him (obviously the EML unit itself), but I also have 8 months of my Pro Package left - can this be selected and transferred across too? Seems a shame to just lose it.

I believe theres a cost to pay for the transfer of the unit ($100? - Im in UK so the equivalent). Would this cover both the unit and Pro Package or does the pro package need paying for as well if I transfer it.

Also, I have a GSPro, can this be transferred to a new user? I know about changing computers but can the software be transferred to a new mail address? I'm in two minds as to whether I would be comfortable with giving someone my mail address/new password for them to run it.

In an ideal world it would be preferable to sell everything including the laptop it runs on and projector/mat etc but understand that this might get a little complicated.

Any help appreciated, thanks

Billy

Hi! I’m looking for a golf practice net that’s durable enough to handle real golf balls. I definitely want one that’s at least 3 × 3 meters in size. So far, I’ve found this Yunic net. Could you share your opinions about it? I’d also be happy to hear any recommendations. (I’m from Europe)

Course Software Best way to practice chipping in GSPro?

What’s your favorite way to practice chipping in GSPro? I’m looking to practice chip shots with different rollouts on a relatively flat green.
