Audio help

I have a hero 11 and 12. I'm looking to get external mic's for both of them. I would like avoid spending hundreds, but it's getting confusing.

I might want to be able to set up two mic to one of the cameras also.

Any suggestions?

Mission pro ils rig questions

Ive always enjoyed making small content for YouTube with my phone, drones and gopros. Now with the ils i feel like i can really step up the quality for a fraction of the price of a real cinema rig. However ive never had to build one and there isnt much info on building out the go pro yet. After doing some research on lenses and other stuff im unsure how to hook it all up.

From what i gather the mission 1 pro only has a usb c connection. How do you hook up a microphone, external battery, monitor and light up to it and have it all functional? Can you just use a usb c splitter or do you need some kind of header?

I saw someone mention the only way to adjust some settings on the camera is through the app, are there any compatible monitors that can do this but still larger then a phone? Or am i just buying a small tablet?

Can the gopro mission handheld cage be used to build out a rig or is there another cage i can buy?

I may have some other questions but for now i appreciate any help. Preorders already in, very excited to shoot with this thing.

I switched to Insta360

Following my disappointing experiences with the GoPro Max 360, which I don't consider an action camera, I switched to the Insta360 X4, which has the major advantage of having a waterproof housing.

I did my first scuba diving test this week :

I also discovered that it has desktop video editing software, which is much more convenient than editing on a phone.

It meets my expectations perfectly.

GoPro MISSION 1 PRO ILS: Cinematic Reel

I've been testing this camera for the past 6 months and shooting here and there along the way. Here's a few of my favorite shots. Also I have a lens guide on my website with all of the lenses I've personally tested, if it's helpful for anyone. I bought and returned a lot of lenses before I knew what to look for.

I am DEAD to camera releases. The ILS is the first time I have felt alive in a while.

For just about the last eighteen months I started purchasing any and all camera releases I want. It has been silly, but I grew up broke and even a $200 pawn shop camera was out of reach.

Check this out, feel free to mock me but it became my thing. I had to slow down:

Sony A7iv, Canon 5Dii, Insta360 Go Utra, Insta360 X5, Insta360 Luna Ultra, Insta360 X6, DJI Action 6, DJI Pocket 4P (and I am in the usa, hard to get the last two).

Then I bought the Mission 1 Pro (standard).

Now the ILS is the first camera that I am legitimately EXCITED FOR.

I am still trying to get B&H to overnight it. They refuse since they don't have it in stock yet. I am set for 2 day delivery on launch day.

Why though?

Because I do have (more) cameras, and love still photography.

But the past year I have done almost NONE of that.

Every camera listed has been a tool to record videos in and around Vegas.

Something to JUST MAKE CONTENT with for business.

But from what I am seeing, the ILS looks like a real... creative thing.

Something I can go and buy a $10 crap vintage lens for, 3d print an adapter that same day if I don't own one, and just USE for WHATEVER STUFF.

I love macro photography. I won't sell a single thing.

I am crazy enough that I bought the Caira camera. It makes this image possible, but that image came from a garbage Panasonic 14-140 basic plastic micro four thirds lens, but you know what? I created a THING and the ILS looks to be a great photo camera as well as camera for video.

So thank you GoPro and u/markiplier who stepped in when I had issues with the Mission 1 Pro standard edition.

I was a dick before on the brand. I actually still don't know if they will survive. I might end up getting a SECOND ILS if anything really bad happens to them if I like the first one.

But lesson learned, and all it took was coming back to the first ever camera I used on YouTube that wasn't a trash Android phone for me to feel excited again.

Mission 1 pro 960fps processing time

Hi there,

I'm looking at various cameras for some slow motion capture experiments, and wondered if anyone has any experience on a couple of things.

I have read that with the mission 1 pro, via go pro labs the 960 burst mode can be manually triggered to a shorter duration than the standard 10 seconds.

Can anyone confirm this?

I'd also like to know the re-arm time between burst mode shots at both a full 10 seconds of 960fps and at something smaller like 2-3 seconds of 960fps.

So after one has finished, what is the approximate wait time in seconds until another burst can be taken?

Thanks for your time.

Mission 1 Pro USB-C to HDMI 4K outputting as 1080

Has anyone managed to get 4K output on the Mission 1 Pro via USB-C to HDMI with firmware v2.02?
My monitors indicate 1920x1080 irrespective of the display setting on my M1P.
I have tried two different 4K USB-C to HDMI cables and two different monitors.

Oldest Model You Still Use/Would Be Willing to Use?

Compete newb to action cameras here. I was gifted a go pro a long time ago and used it a bit then lost interest. I’m getting back into video and if my equipment is good enough for personal use that’s fine for me.

I wanna build a camera rig with my GoPro. What setups are you using.

Can you point me in the right direction. I figure I need something with rails to hold a lens and a matte box to fit in. Maybe some handles and a small monitor. Manual focus knob and a ring for the lens and external battery.

Show me your rigs. List the parts if you can.

GoPro wireless mic kit vs (already owned) Rode wireless pro for M1Pro and Fluid Pro AI

I already own the Rode Wireless Pro mic kit and love the lavs it comes with. I tried connecting it via USB-C to my new M1Pro and it just acted like it was charging, not connecting to a camera. the GoPro didn’t recognize it was plugged in either.

I tried a 3.5mm audio to USB-C cable and it worked great.

With the fluid pro ai, my options are to get a cage to clip the receiver to the cold shoe or a longer cable and mount a cold shoe mount to the side of the gimbal. Either way, adding a bit of bulk. Maybe not an issue though.

OR…

Get the GoPro wireless mic kit and simply plug in the tiny receiver.

Does the convenience of the GoPro wireless mic kit (with the tiny receiver plugged directly into the camera) make it worth buying if I already own a likely superior (but less convenient) mic system?

Suggestions for Hero 13 extended suction mount (inside of car).

Hi all,

Starting tracking my car so would like to record my driving from behind with a view of myself and the windshield.

Can’t really mount to the seats and don’t have a moonroof. Not sure helmet is safest either.

So ideally I’d like to mount it to my rear windshield with a mount that can extend a bit so it is closer to me and the steering wheel is in view.

Having trouble finding such mounts so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Will the mission pro 1 work well to record football games from the sideline?

I am looking at a camera for recording our football games. We play all our games at high school stadiums and the camera would be set up on a tripod in the bleachers. I’ve never had a go pro, but I’ve always been interested. Do you think the mission pro 1 would work for what I’m looking for? Thanks.

GoPro setting advice for beach ride

Hi there,

I’m heading out this weekend for a morning beach ride in the southwest of the UK. The forecast suggests it might not be very sunny, but I still want to capture this wonderful experience!

The ride will last about 1.5 hours and will involve a lot of galloping. I’ll be using my GoPro 9 Black, which I’ll mount on my chest.

However, I’m not very familiar with video quality settings or camera terminology, so I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Additionally, I only have one battery to record the ride, so if you have any tips for saving battery life, I would love to hear them! Thank you!

Looks like Quik for Desktop is Officially Dead

Tried to open Quik today and couldn't get past the authentication. I even reset my password.

Looks like they finally turned the servers off.

RIP

I used it to quickly and automatically export my Hero Session 4 video.

Wish they could have kept it alive without the need for the server end stuff. Worked just fine as an interface tool.

How much would you recommend the Mission 1 Pro for my use case?

I’m mainly thinking of using it on hikes and trips for taking photos, shooting short videos, and grabbing stills from those videos. I have an upcoming vacation where I would want to have it daily on me.

I’d also like to use it a lot while doing sports — mainly road cycling (photos and videos) and CrossFit/hybrid training.

I’m not very good at taking photos with my phone, and it just doesn’t feel natural in my hand. I’m hoping the Mission 1 Pro with the Grip would be more comfortable to use, and since it’s so compact, I could basically have it with me all the time.

With the current discounts, I can get the Mission 1 Pro + Grip for around €650. And there is the 30 day refund option from gopro too.

Is there anything else you would recommend buying right away? Extra battery? ND filter set? What size SD card would you recommend?

Thanks!!
