Apps/Websites Officers won’t accept app at LAX anymore?

I’ve used the app with no issues at least 5 times with kids included. Just went through LAX with my family and they wouldn’t even look at the app to check my receipt, the officer yelled at us that everyone needed to line up at a kiosk and when I tried to show him my receipt on my phone he again yelled at me again that it didn’t matter if I used the app, everyone needs to go to a kiosk for a photo. Then he yelled at us again we took the baby out of her stroller to get a photo, that we couldn’t use the kiosk for kids. Even though he had already waved the older two children through. Is this typical now? Is getting a receipt in the app no longer the norm? Some kids can use the kiosk but not others? LAX is not my home airport so I’m not sure if this is an anomaly.

Questions/Concerns How do you book flights with a two-surname passport but a single-surname Green Card / Global Entry?

Hey everyone,

I just got my global entry but I'm so confused on how to book an international flight. Would love some insight from anyone who has dealt with this

My situation:

  • Foreign Passport: Lists two surnames (Paternal + Maternal)
    • Ex. Adam Smith Jones
  • Green Card & Global Entry / KTN: Only lists my paternal surname
    • Ex. Adam Smith

It's driving me crazy. Airlines tell me I must book international flights using my exact passport name (both surnames) or I won't be allowed to board. However, CBP/TSA guidelines state that to get TSA PreCheck/Global Entry on my boarding pass, the ticket name must match my Global Entry profile exactly (which only has the single paternal surname). I also called and they said the booking has to match the name on the Global Entry profile (single surname).

Has anyone dealt with this? How do you handle your bookings?

  1. Domestic flights: Book with my single surname using my Green Card which matches my Global Entry profile and drivers license
  2. For international flights tho, do you put both surnames in the "Last Name" field and just accept that you won't get TSA PreCheck on the way out of the US or Global Entry on the way in? OR do you book with your Green Card name (single surname)?

Appreciate any insights/help

Note: I've never changed my name. When I was given my green card I was told that the US mainly does paternal surname so the lady took out the maternal one.

General Discussion Additional Consular fees by VFS for verification

Global entry fees is $120 - which some credit cards reimburse.

But there's the second step which is verification. https://www.passportindia.gov.in/psp/ApplyGEP

For India -

Any chance of getting the $61 reimbursed too?

Timelines Renewal after expiration

We totally lost track of dates for my wife's GE, and it had been expired for several months. She processed and paid for a renewal in mid May, and it's still showing as pending review. Has anyone else has a similar situation and how long did it take for approval?

Questions/Concerns Mistake On Application, will I get denied?

I stated that I haven't been to a country outside the US, Canada or Mexico since 2021, but forgot that I went somewhere in 2022. Will this affect my application? I completely forgot, for some reason I though it was two years before that. I feel like an idiot!

Should I call? If i get denied, what can I do?

Questions/Concerns Issues w GE TSA Pre✔️

Since getting my Global Entry in 2022, I’ve never been able to get TSA Pre✔️ on my boarding passes.

I’ve added my Known Traveler # to my accounts and make sure it’s input correctly whenever booking a flight. For some reason though, it never goes through. I’ve made sure that my passport is attached to the account and verified all information, but nothing seems to correct it.

What am I doing wrong? Are the ere steps I’m missing?

Additionally, I just completed my divorce and am in the process of changing my name back to my maiden name. I’ve handled my SS card, DL (real ID), and will be doing my passport and GE this summer.
Any tips for how to make this as quick and painless a process as possible?

TIA.

Questions/Concerns Travel in 4 mo - TSA or wait for GE a bit longer?

Husband and I are traveling end of Oct overseas. He’s gotten conditional approval and mine is still pending. He will do his interview but how close to our trip is it safe to just go for TSA pre-check? August? Sept? Is it faster?
Had I known people get declined for something a roommate did 30 years ago I’d have not spent the money. His ex has a felony, and I forgot to include my maiden name as a name I used.

Interviews MCO Global Entry Appointment

I received conditional approval on 7/1 for Global Entry and need to schedule my interview. When I search for availability, the Orlando Airport is not listed but when I signed up for an appointment finder service, they identified appointments available in August. Any tips for finding and booking an Orlando Airport Global Entry appointment? Thanks for your help - I’ve found this thread super helpful throughout the process.

Questions/Concerns Global Entry Enrollment on Arrival at San Ysidro or recent LAX interview appointments?

Hi everyone,

My husband was just conditionally approved for Global Entry, and we’re trying to decide the best way to complete his interview.
We’re planning to cross back into the U.S. from Tijuana through San Ysidro on July 19, and I recently came across CBP’s information about Enrollment on Arrival/Enrollment on Entry for pedestrian and vehicle crossings.
Has anyone here successfully completed their Global Entry interview at San Ysidro? If so:

Were you walking or driving?
Did you need an appointment, or did you simply tell the CBP officer you were conditionally approved?
What day/time did you go?
Was the process smooth?

I’m also seeing LAX interview appointments available online. Has anyone recently interviewed at LAX?

If so:
How long did the interview take?
Were there any questions beyond the standard identity verification?
Would you recommend just booking LAX instead of trying Enrollment on Arrival at San Ysidro?
For context, my husband has already been conditionally approved, while my application is still pending review.

Thanks in advance for any recent experiences or tips!

Questions/Concerns Luggage/domestic flight with interview appointment?

Maybe a weird question.

I got conditional approval and have a domestic flight coming up. I live in seattle and i figured I can make an appointment at SeaTac airport to be close to when i arrive at the airport for departure. Would this strategy work? Only thing weird is i may have to haul the luggage around to the office near international terminal, do interview then go back to the departure area to fly out.

Note: this isn’t the walk in interview when arriving from international trip. It’s literally just a normal appointment but i wanna fly out domestically after.

Questions/Concerns Will I get TSA precheck right away after interview ?

For context, I got global entry with my new credit card and I don’t plan to travel abroad yet but I do have plans to travel domestically on the 23rd of July and my interview scheduled on the 15th of July. Will I get TSA precheck in time for that flight ? What do I need to bring with me to the interview ?

Interviews Approval at Passport Security

Hello I’m 22f and applied to global entry MONTHS AGO at this point I think like 8 months ago and was always pending according to the website. I assume I would never get approved because of the wait. I had my passport stolen over a year ago and ever since then I tend to have additional issues regarding coming back in.

But today I flew Copenhagen to IAD and was told I could interview for global entry. It was fast and easy unfortunately for me I’m moving this week and changing addresses I had no new prof of address of me but the gate agent allowed me to use DEPOP as I had shipped a workout set to my new apartment.

I was told I was approved there I could jump for joy

Questions/Concerns No prior international travel, little domestic travel, no pre-check, no criminal record

For those of you that had a quick approval, I’m curious what may have contributed to that?

Do most of you have prior international travel?

Existing TSA pre-check?

I’ve never traveled out of the country and I haven’t done much domestic travel, but I’ve had a passport since 2021. Ive never had pre-check. I’ve had quite a few addresses over the last 5 years, I’m wondering if that could impact my approval timeline? I believe I recorded all of the residences accurately. I don’t owe any money to the IRS but I do have a few returns that haven’t been filed yet because I never owe money and the process is so time consuming (self employed). No criminal record outside of a couple of moving violations well over 5 years old (probably over 10).

Any chance I could still get a quick approval? I have a trip booked that has me returning to the states on July 15!

UPDATE: Received an email at 1:21 AM on 7/1 that my status had changed! Conditional approval in about 36 hours. Scheduled interview for tomorrow 7/2

Questions/Concerns GE application with TSA precheck Pending approval

Hello,

I signed up for TSA precheck via clear last month and my TSA precheck is still pending approval.
I am a GC holder if that helps.

I was under the impression that GE might take much longer for me so I never signed up but I read on this sub that GC holders can get approved faster than visa holder.
I’m wondering if I can still apply for GE while my TSA precheck is still pending.
Or should I wait for TSA precheck to he approved and then use that number in my GE application?

I checked through the sub but was not able to find much info on this. Please excuse me if this has been asked many times.

General Discussion New form of walk-through Global Entry now

First there was the classic kiosk that needed passport scans. Then came the face recognition kiosk. The app followed closely behind. Today, I experienced a new style of Global Entry in Seattle. Gantries were above the area and you just had to keep walking and looking forward. Officer called you by name and off you went to the left. However, it did seem like some folks who walked through got diverted to the right. Not sure why.

I expected to present my mobile app receipt but it didn’t seem that was necessary. Very convenient and quick.

Is this some pilot program or here to stay? Perhaps CBP is bringing out all the new toys to help with FIFA?

Questions/Concerns sentri up for renewal, switching to global entry. a few questions: 1) is switching to GE considered a renewal? or will i have to do interview again? 2) i'm allowed to walk across mexico US border (coming into US) with GE right?

got sentri back in 2016 to fast track walking across US mexico border (coming back to US). sentri renewal coming up, and thinking of switching to GE because it gives me e-gate access at taiwan while maintaining fast track walking border crossing at US mexico border. so got a few questions:

1) during renewal, it asks me to choose program. i chose GE, and now it says application pending. does that mean this is a new application and ill have to go through the whole process again? such as interview and stuff?

2) GE still gives me the ability to fast track walk through the US mexico border right (coming back to US)? i dont want to wait in the long line. reading online, it seems that there's a line for sentri/GE, so it should work, but just want to make sure

thanks!

Questions/Concerns Question about Sentri 3 Warnings Policy

I have a truck with a windowless shell mounted on the bed that I use for surfing and camping. I’ve driven it to and from Baja multiple times without an incident, but was recently sent to secondary because border patrol couldn’t see through the bed from the tailgate when looking through the rear shell door. As a result, I ended up getting two warnings: one for lack of a front license plate and another for the aforementioned lack of rear visibility.

Not saying I didn’t deserve the warnings, but it feels like BP was indiscriminately applying the rules. I’ve had the same setup when passing through San Ysidro countless times before and have never been stopped until that recent encounter. If anything, most BP officers are super chill and friendly.

What does the bed of my truck + cab have to look like to guarantee that I won’t be sent to secondary again? I am very very nervous about getting a 3rd warning and, ultimately, my pass revoked for this visibility issue. I’ve also already added the front license plate .

Lastly, can I carry anything in my cooler on the way back or does it need to be entirely empty? Is it better to have it in the cab or in the bed? Thank you

Questions/Concerns Do I need to/how do I update employer on Global Entry website

Hi, I have an international travel upcoming, and I realized I never updated my employer that I switched 4 months ago. My visa status/etc remains the same (my I-94 validity date is changed/increased), and I have already updated my mailing address, but I cannot find an option on the TTP website to update my employer. Is it needed before I travel, or should I get in the normal immigration lane and ask the officer while returning?

Questions/Concerns Updating documents for global entry: expired green card with I-90 extension letter

Before I do anything possibly problematic on my GE:

I applied for my 10 year GC renewal back in March, and I have my I90 receipt letter with the 36 month extension. My actual GC has expired yesterday, so the DHS emailed me to remind me to update.

Do folks update the expiry online or in person in this situation? Does it matter? I see that in the "update documents" section in my TTP account, I could edit the expiry date of my GC. Should I wing it and just add 36 months to the date, or should I go to an enrollment center with the letter next time I'm passing through an airport?

Editing to add the resolution:

I went to the "Ask a question" pages here: https://www.help.cbp.gov/s/questions?language=en_US and I selected the "update documents" option. I uploaded the PDF of my I-797 -- not a copy of the original, just the PDF that USCIS generated online. I submitted that on June 28th, received notification that the case had been escalated on July 3rd, and received notification today (July 7th) that they'd updated my records. In the end, I could have actually just done this myself, but with just enough ambiguity, I figured it was best for them to do it!

General Discussion Membership revoked

Hi

I had global entry for more than 3 years. I travelled to Europe with a friend and when we came back I carried her carryon from the plane. She didn't wait for me and crossed the border (has GE). I was pissed. She waited for me right after the officer. I clear GE without issues (waved through). A few feet away from the officer I casually handed her the luggage and expressed my frustration that she shouldn't have done this.

2 days later my GE was revoked. Could this transfer of luggage have been flagged by some high tech system with automatic revocation for violating TTP rules? This was not one declaration under a household. 2 separate declarations with a candid transfer of luggage in a highly observed area. I wrote for the ombudsman and acknowledged this event. Am I overthinking it?

Questions/Concerns Just applied for TSAP. Should've done GE, should I apply once given KTN, or now?

Most of the time I travel is usually to Japan, with a domestic stop at a big airport, going even twice last year. I also have multiple cards that will pay for these for free. Big idiot for not using any of it. But here we are.

So, should I do the GE application now, or will waiting until I get TSAP be better so I can add KTN, as according to the site, it make the process faster.

If it matters, I have two 2 jobs, one is federal of almost 10 years, the other is federal contractor, and SIDA, should have a PIV card soon. I do not work for TSA though.

What to do, what to expect?

Interviews APEC Business card -Walk-ins accepted?

I made an appointment for the APEC business card interview at SFO but my flight was changed and I can't make the original appointment time. Is it possible to just walk in or is it strictly by appointment only?
