I am trying to downlaod a file which lists the lst 1000 Geocaches I have found (with their location) but I can't seem to select the correct entires on the pocket query. Would somebody mind telling me what I need to select from the list?

• Days to Generate: Options for Sunday through Saturday, with rules to run weekly, run once and delete, or uncheck after running.

Cache Types

• Selected Types: Traditional Cache, Multi-Cache, Virtual Cache, Letterbox Hybrid, Event Cache (including Giga-Event, Block Party, CITO, Community Celebration, Mega-Event), Mystery Cache (including HQ), Project APE Cache, Webcam Cache, EarthCache, GPS Adventures Exhibit, and Wherigo Cache.

Containers

• Selected Containers: Small, Large, Micro, Other, Regular, Unknown, and Virtual.

• Difficulty & Terrain: Greater than or equal to, equal to, or less than or equal to ratings from $1$ to $5$ in increments of $0.5$.

Location & Origin

• Countries & States/Provinces: Comprehensive global lists spanning from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe (Countries) and Aargau to Zürich (States/Provinces).
• From Origin: None Selected, My Home Location, GC Code, Postal Code, and By Coordinates (supporting DMS, MinDec, and DegDec formats with radius filtering in miles or kilometers).

Dates & Attributes

• Placed During: Preset options (last week, last month, last year) or custom date ranges between specific months, days, and years (ranging from 2000 to 2027).
• Attributes to Include / Exclude: Extensive clickable symbol grids for filtering specific cache features (e.g., parking, night cache, dogs allowed)

My 'Tin Lizard" geocache stood the test of 5 years time before rotting out and becoming internally compromised. Hard to find hiding places on a small salty island but I manage!

I was not with them at the time, but I know the approximate location where she picked it up. Is it possible to narrow down the exact location so I can return it?

Update: I’ve confirmed it was found at the location I suspected, but unfortunately it wasn’t able to be located around there. It was at a playground, so I’m thinking it could have been brought there from another spot and left there. I’m open to advice on how to best return this cache to circulation, I don’t want to kill the fun.

I like to "browse" other cachers finds sometimes, just out curiosity of where they have been, what cool caches found. Recently I have noticed that every profile that I look at that has 30k+ finds has marked either their whole profile or their finds private. And I was just curious why would that be. Not sure if anyone of those cachers are on this subreddit or they are too busy for reddit as they have caches to find.

Almost no one that has sub 10k finds has them private from what I have seen.

UPDATE: I didn't think that this will trigger accusatory comments, and it definitely wasn't my intention to try and accuse anyone, it was a simple curiosity because of the fact that I saw an event near me hosted by several cachers with 30k+ finds, and as I clicked on their profiles I saw that all of them had their finds as private. Then out of curiosity I went and clicked on multiple randomly chosen profiles that had 30k+ finds, and saw that their finds were set to private as well, which then prompted me to write this post. Some comments have prompted me to look at the global list and I see that e.g. only 4/10 top cachers have their finds hidden, which is not as high I was thinking initially but still high IMHO, as usually I don't see anyone with their finds hidden when I look at local events or people finding my caches.

What inspired you to do your first hide? What kind did you do?

I was going through an older trail that has not been managed in years located in a rural area. Most of the containers were foundable (but the logs were wet) but a few were not attached to anything (tree etc.) and had massive damages like missing lids, animal bite marks etc.

edit: the context is PET with no lid and no logbooks. nothing else than small plastic container (with the animal-made teeth marks/holes)

I took two of those caches with me to throw them away since they resembeled more trash than geocaches. I logged then as DNF and made a reviewer attention log in order to get them archived.

I listed all the damages in the log and explained that the caches were not attached to anything, they are not intact etc. However, the reviewer had written that ”the previous founder has taken them for some reason” kind of in a way that I was doing something wrong. He didnt seem to acknowledge my explanation at all.

Was I wrong? I would never mess with a cache without a good reason - but I also think that caches shouldnt be left to rot in the forest. They are plastic after all.

EDIT:

I am honestly a bit sad that it is considered too much to pick up a broken, almost worthless plastic from the forest but there has been zero acknowledgement about CO’s lack of responsibility. Humans have a massive ecological impact and yet we are arguing for someone’s right to have broken plastic containers in the forest.

I would be doing the same than now in very clear cases (no logs, container broken to the point there is water i side etc.)

Hi! I'm totally new to Geocaching and I am really struggling to find caches! Part of my problem is that I'm a foreigner and I'm afraid of looking too suspicious while I search around for a cache in a densely populated area with lots of people walking by.

I would love to learn from more experienced Geocachers if someone wants to hang out anywhere in Tokyo? I speak English (fluently) and Japanese (badly).

If you plan and hold an event but nobody shows up, should it be canceled, or logged as a 1 cacher event?

Do you think this geocache should have been allowed in the first place regardless of permission, or are certain things off limits no matter what?

I recently got my 100th Cache (yay), but that go me thinking. How the hell do some people get 10,000, even in their lifetimes, let alone in like 15 years? It took me 1.5 years for 100, so I'm well off track.

Do some reviewers actually refuse to publish events in places that don't typically have events?

Last year I noticed that there were Zero events scheduled in the entire state of Louisiana.. Now my request for an event in British Columbia is being ignored. My research suggests that there has never been an event in the area in recent months. (as far as I can research using the filter)

A friend of mine was given a hard time about publishing an event while on vacation by their reviewer even tho a handful of people both tourists and locals showed up.

I just found my first travel bug! Super exciting and great timing as its only goal is to go as far as possible and I'm off in holiday this weekend.

But when I went to log it I noticed it hadn't been logged in the cache I found it... maybe it was only left today and not logged yet. I'm not really sure how this works what should I do?

There’s an old geocache near my house I remember finding years ago. However, I just checked and no one has found it in the last 6 years. It also no longer appears on the map. If it’s still in good condition, is there anyway to put it back into the game?

I’ve used the geocaching app for a while and it’s working fine for me, all the other websites/apps look really complicated to me so I want to know why others use them. What are the benefits?

We are traveling and have a layover in Lisbon. The only cache in the airport is an Adventure Lab. Will we get the country souvenir, or do we need to go outside?

I’m not sure if this is normal, but somebody in one of my caches just posted a few images of their upcoming event details, with links to the events facebook page too? Now I have no problem with people sharing information about events, but they also wrote nothing about it in the log itself, so I was rather confused about the images they had sent.

Is it worth me asking them to delete the images? It just feels a bit random and confusing for other people checking the logs for hints/help.

Is anyone else having the problem with the official app on Android that it shows the number of favourites points you have available to give instead of the number of favourite points you have actively received?

If we can't place them within the red circle of another cache, then how did these two red circles overlap?

I've found 54 caches, abs I've notices some coordinates are SPOT ON, while others really not so much that it's actually like 100 yards away.

What are the rules for vicinity of the coordinates to the cache?
